Its easy road from there.

cant it shoot at 4 targets at the same time?
also, its incredibly easy to overwhelm when you consider it is the best SPAA in the game.
if we ignore the state that pantsir is in right now (seemingly broken in multiple ways), the radar completely loses lock if the aircraft chaffs, shoots any missile or drops a bomb.
you cant choose target reliably, and the new radar control panel is hardly usable
isnt that in favor of CAS haters ?
the only thing im not convinced is your cope that SPAAs werent useless before the update
I have and usually when something launched slower AGMs like the Hammer or maverick at medium range (8-12 km) I could usually shoot down 5-6 before they even reached the battlefield.
Like I said, the Pantsir might not be able to kill the plane, but the plane also won’t be getting ground kills.
Were these already broken before this update or are they a product from the Leviathan update? Because I don’t remember massive issues when playing it before the update.
Unless they changed it, its 3 auto guidance targets and 1 on SACLOS, and all targets have to be in the tracking radar FOV to do it.
Since la royale according to what I read in the bug report stuff. It was busted and never got fixed. If the TWS could just hold a lock it would be fine, how it is now and has been seemingly forever its just incredibly frustrating to play.
As for the new stuff, the radar screen won’t show contacts you can lock and clearly see outside of it, the auto guidance switches targets, when you try to lock a target your ACM isn’t directly pointed at it fires the ACM then turns the turret resulting in it not locking, it has trouble locking even if you are in the 90 degree cone, but works fine outside of the radar screen, its a mess.
You can take it into the test drive and immediately see what im saying here with the new radar mode.
pantsir always lost lock easily, but after the update shooting feels much worse, the missiles miss everything, not to mention missiles with TWS. also sometimes the radar just breaks completely and jitters all over the place, i have no idea if this is lag, bad internet, a bug, etc
i dont think they changed that
The fact is, if Gaijin sticks to reality somewhat, which they at least try to do, the wheel won’t spin again
SPAAs will get longer and longer ranges, with faster missiles and more advanced seekers.
Planes will either have to fly low, but therefore be limited in their ability to do CAS, which will actually require some skill.
Or they’ll have to deal with the SAM sites first, with anti radiation missiles if Gaijin adds them. The thing is :
I know, somehow its 11.7 keeping up a k/d of 1.8 but is certainly not better than the pantsir, not even close actually, k/d means nothing here since every spaa with guns will try to get a ground kill at some point
Heads up.
K/Ds for the mutli-vehicle spaa will be wonky. Losing a secondary-truck equals 1 death so people might be getting 3x more deaths than what they are actually getting.
This entire thread is just ultra giga cope.
Ive played SPAA extensively pre-leviathans (with Flarakrad being my favourite SPAA to play with), i play it extensively now.
SLM, CLAWS and (TanSamKai*) are the only worthwhile SPAAs out of this update, SPYDER is just broken (not in a good way) to the point where you can fly around the battlefield with near impunity and the CS/SA5 you can literally dodge by turning with how shit the missiles are.
*Turns out no, the tan sam kai is not doing well. so ignore that part. Thanks @JuicyKuuuuki)
SLMs radar right now is giga dogshit, with refresh rate being so low that unless the CAS player is flying in a straight line like a moron the chances that itll connect are 50/50. Plus as long as you break LOS and fly defensive before the missile goes into IR mode its not extremely hard to dodge them.
Close range the SLM is nigh useless, due to the aforementioned bad refresh rate getting a soft lock on the plane is already a herculian task, having the missile then have either enough range to head straight to the plane, connect and not tumble into the ground is in most cases not plausible.
And thats not even taking into the account the sheer size of not 1 but 3 separate vehicles with 0 armor, so hiding 3 gigantic trucks so they dont get instantly HE shelled at the start of the match from a single person rushing is another factor to keep in mind.
It has its positives (very good and fast missile with decently good tracking once in IR mode) but also negatives (huge size, 3 separate vehicles to protect with no protection from bombs or HE shells, extremely underperforming radar).
CLAWS i personally dont own but i have a friend i play with on almost daily basis, its overall fine, 9Xs are good, amraams are usable when they manage to damage the enemy plane instead of giving a “hit”.
SPYDER from my other friend who got it is just pure unusable dogshit. Python 5s lack DL, they are very slow at range and will generally miss. I-Derby are only good against helicopters, dodging them is as easy as turning.
CS/SA5 i dont own, nor i have a friend who owns and plays it, but I fight against it nearly constantly. The fact you can completely bamboozle it in even F4F KWS whos flight performance leaves a lot to be desired at those BRs is enough of a statement on why its incredibly shit.
As for the CAS argument, every single one of the newly added SPAAs can be circumvented by playing smart. Using environment such as mountains or hills, angles from where most SPAAs dont expect you to come from to your advantage.
SLM is massive, its radar is its weakpoint and its unarmored, just like every other new SPAA. JDAMs, SPICE, Kh29s, Kh38s, Hammers and mavericks are all a big problem for them when they are not fired from ass of the world 20km range by someone who thinks they are gods gift to CAS players.
Play smart, communicate with your team, use the environment, FLY LOW TO THE GROUND, fire off munitions from range where interception is hard or impossible in time.
These are the exact things you had to do in order to kill the Pantsirs with NATO planes for years now, and its your turn to figure out how to play CAS smart, instead of flying up to 5km altitude and then shitting out 5-6 death sticks and returning back to base without any counterplay possible from the other team.
Alternatively… just spawn a tank
They’ll probably just count the deaths of the radar vehicle.
Maybe bugged rn.
Had a match where i lost all 3 trucks and my stat card counted all 3
Or just Gaijin being Gaijin.
Those systems should count as a kill only when both launchers or the radar vehicle are destroyed, otherwise it’s not a complete kill and shouldn’t count as one.
True. I have 24 games and 20 deaths but i am 100% sure i have lived through more than 4 games.
I agree
the new SPAAs are finally bringing some balancing to ground battles. CAS was too powerful before and it’s still very strong. And after all it’s called GROUND Battles. The fact that aircrafts are the dominating force is very ironic. If you want to play with planes why not just play airbattles in the first place?
You don’t even have the tansamkai unlocked, how can you say it’s one of the most worthwile SPAAs when you haven’t even played it?
The strenght of the 81c was it’s silent missile that doesn’t give any warnings, this is completely nulified by the ARH seeker. The missile stays the same so it simply can’t hit any maneuvring targets beyond 6km, and the radar is godawful garbage at close range.
