Now you got a radar to know if something is approaching and then you use the type 81C IR missile to not alert RWR, atleast that is how i plan on using it once i get it, which will hopefully not be long
and now we’re back to not being able to kill helis and being completely useless once a SLM/Pantsir/whatever else spawns in. Also IR missile can’t reliably target munition
your right…it doesn’t count lol Got 100 kills with it too right now , 129 deaths tho, majority of the deaths were due to tanks. Very few times by CAS. Just not looking good right now for this “Maddog”, feels like a sad Chihuahua instead. 😭
well, you can bring half and half, i agree its not optimal but it exists, and compared to spyder or the chinese one, Tan Sam Kai got off pretty easy.
Killing helis was always ass with japan, and will probably remain so, but atleast we now got a radar to go with it to atleast know something is approaching without having to scout out the entire sky with mk1 eyeballs.
So like i said, because the tan sam kai is basically just the previously existing 81C with radar, its going to be worthwhile to get from the new ones.
Even if the ARH defeats what made 81C really good before now, i still think itll be fine for most cases with its IR missiles that dont ping RWR.

also everyone who has been killed in the ground spawn by… take your pick of stand off CAS weapons, it literally starts with the huge bombs dropped on the spawn by PE-8s, Lancasters and He-111s from 5000m alt.
I just hope they won’t blindly count 3 deaths for what’s effectively a single death when it comes to their balancing decisions.
CS/SA5 was a complete disappointment.
The proxy fuses (technically timed shrapnel, but what’s the difference) barely work, you’re better off with the stock round.
The missiles for some reason want to spike people (not too sure if that’s what they do in real life).
The second missile is supposed to be better than the first, right? Wrong, now it can miss even more than the original. Because now it wants to aggressively spike at faster speed with higher Gs.
Oh, and the missile proxies still do not work. So not only do you have to smack a plane like a volley ball, you also get the fun of literally stabbing a plane with a very flexible APCBC round.
Tested this, radar interferes with the IR lock when using both somehow. Literally have to turn off the radar so I can use IR missiles which takes times to set. It won’t let me fire IR missiles if its on. However, due to the speed of the match, it will be too late and the jet would fly off or killed me. Another problem is when swapping from from SAM to SAM, the missiles begin to magically reload each time, another bug for sure which takes up even more time to set. The whole thing is a mess. Trust, Tan Sam is not in a good state right now to be saying its worthwhile to use.
EDIT: Decided to ditch the whole radar vehicle, got more kills swinging ARH missiles at them to auto lock on helis and far away jets since the radar messes up the lock. While the 2nd SAM carries IR missiles for those low flying jets. Basically just use 2 SAMs only instead of relying on that Radar.

Tried IR a bit, in paper it should work but the problem is that the radar forces your IR lock to track whatever thats on screen. It doesn’t work like a normal 81C with a search radar

I see, well that sucks giga balls then, i retract my statement then on the tansam, out of all of them thats the one ive interacted the least with.
As for the rest tho, SLM and CLAWS work well with some standing issues that gaijin needs adressing, the CS/SA5 is just not good and spyder is genuinely dogshit, which is really a kick in the balls of israel players that have chaparral or machbet as the only other usable SPAAs
Yea, i assumed its the same as regular 81C just now with radar, ive not interacted much with it outside of dev server where it was half baked. Guess they havent finished cooking it before release. Atleast you can turn off the radar i guess and have 3 radarless IR type 81Cs in one lineup lol
Also from what I’ve tested, IR missiles can onyl lock bombs at around 3km or less (on this snow map)
10km is rly a strech
The biggest issue the claws has is that it is on the US team. So far, i have only died to cas twice. All other times were due to the team collapsing and/or leaving half the map wide open.
I thought people say the new SPAA is worse then the pansir the missle can’t even fly 2km!?!?!
Only SLM is comparable, other SPAAs are ds
