IJN Shimikaze Squadron vehicle and it's unreasonable high BR

yeah… And using it especially on 6.7–> , since ships are a lot slower in there.
Imagine spamming 15 torps and killing enemy 8.7 in single torpedo, since that 1K of tnt is deathsentence
There’s one of our games , what he did in that sucker… And thinking about just spawned, spammed torpedos and swapped to Mutsu :D

Yeah, Bagley has 16 torps, but they are completely useless compared to type 93

So yeah, I rather keep USA boats empty from torpedos since they just blowup when shot and sink your ship, but I dont mind if enemy keeps em on :D

You people forget one thing… You putting this in a position where it can shine. Against battleships/dreadnought! Is this topic about torpedoes and how to push it in a BR where there are sitting ducks? MY concern is that this ship is completely useless in 5.0! Where you meed highend destroyers/fregats/Light and Heavy cruisers… go toe to toe with these…
And what kind of playing when you do nothing but send 16 long lance and than J out… that shit should be also punished it’s toxic as hell!

I actually killed a scharnhorst with its guns once, was hilarious

I killed a boat once with Sharnhorst, with it’s main guns, that was also hilarios. My point stands…

I guess I’m one of the rare people to not J out. I love my Shima too much XD

I actually much prefer Akizuki and Hatsuzuki over Shimakaze.

You lose a torpedo launcher but still carry 2x4 Type 93 Mod 3s so you’re not exactly lacking. Guns are 100mm vs Shims 127mm but an extra front facing turret and double the fire rate more than make up for it.

Since Hatsuzuki arrived via Mobile l only use Shimakaze if there is a torpedo challenge otherwise ROF rules at 5.0 and below.

Finally someone with some reasons!

what is your point? you refuse to put the ship in the position where it shines and use it vs stuff that is better than it and dont want to play it to its strengths and then complain that it is bad? i very much feel like thats on you sir.

Ofc you can use it any way you want. even the wrong way. but then wondering why it struggles seems a bit weird ngl. as i said it would make more sense to put it at 6.0 or even higher. but then you would be wondering even more why it is there because you apparently seem to refuse acknowledging that it is the best torpedo based destroyer in the entire game and that you struggle getting shit done with its main guns. I cant help you at this point anymore. if you refuse to put it in a position where it shines, no one can stop you doing that. its a free world

Sure, only your opinion counts 👍🏻

For arcade: shimakaze should be 8.0 or something. A team of them could club the hell out of the enemy team because dreadnoughts are too slow and the maps are stupidly open.

For RB: should be 7.3. It lacks reloading but still powerful.

So, you want to make ‘Destroyer armed with 5-inch cannons’

In the same BR as ‘Most powerful and latest British battleship in real life’ HMS Vanguard (21) in NAB
or
Slightly lower BR than ‘Pride of Royal Navy’ HMS Hood (51) in NRB?

Because of nothing but Type 93 Long-Lance Torpedo…?

Strange…

Honestly I wouldnt mind. Then it finally helps me research battleships properly XD

The point is it’s in 5.0 where it is shit… cause all it faces fast ROF Destroyers cruisers and what not… it can’t deal with that… it is ideal against Battleships and dreads… but not against these destroyers… you can push it to 7.0+ but you can’t push it down to 3.7. This is the problem… you see you can deliberately push something up by putting in higher BR stuff next to it… but you can’t push it down… The 5.0 lineup is totally un reasonable 3.7-4.0 would be proper seeing how these torpedoes are most of the time useless against destroyers cause most can ballet around it…
And I’m not refusing to knowledge that this is the best torpedo boat out there… but the fact remains it is shit in 5.0 cause it’s how the BR system works… you want to bring it to 5.0 and you will face cruisers and destroyers… unless you put in 7.0+ stuff next to it… tell that to a new player…
The problem is that you only think about your self and a minority of a player base who actually know what it does… I the moment I saw this ship know it will be shit in 5.0 cause 3 turrets 2 gun in each under mediocre ROF under mediocre turret rotation. When you researching the techtree you not always have the tools to push a ship to 7.0+ where it would be good… you assume that somebody already have a lineup to back this playstyle up… YOU ARE WRONG!
I know exactly that this is the best long lancer in the game… And I’m not debating that…

And even then, you’re much better off in one of the Japanese crusiers, be it Mikuma/Other Mogamis, Myoko, Tone, etc. Many more torps and good guns to boot. With the current version of naval, these cruisers have been much more survivable than in the past. Been a joy to use them.

Just use it in bb BR, first spawn, look at the enemy spawn markers, throw a wall of torpedos in that direction, j out and spawn a BB, profit

Ah okay well i think i go you now. Well at that point it would be good for it to adjust its BR whether it has the torps equipped or not. The 15 long lances dont justify it going down to 4.0 or something and its kinda nieche playstyle makes it hard for people to use at 5.0 with mainly main guns.

but, it is one ship that is excellent in lineups for ec and a funny thing to bring into rb to play a little different. whats so bad about that? theres plenty of other ships people can play if they dont like to be torpedo man…

and i dont feel like its the minority of players that know what it does considering how long it takes to get it with squadron points…also everyone is free to learn how vehicles work and the different ways you could use them to their strengths. why cater to people that dont want to do that? lets just dumb the whole thing down to arcadey tiny maps where basically every of the 1000s of vehicles play exactly the same because people cant think of a way to use one of the fastest ships in game with 15 of the strongest torps with some of the longest ranges in game?

Clearly you following the conversation… if you would read you know this had been said by a couple of people before… and this debate is not about the torpedoes…

The thing about naval balancing is really assymetrical. The shimakaze performs at top tier where battleships are slow and takes forever to turn, compared to against destroyers because they can just easily turn quickly

You see this constantly with Mikuma and similar cruisers alwaays topfragging with many kills. A team of them could slaughter the whole enemy team.

The maps are a lot to blame for this. Many of them are literally open ocean.

Then, it is MAP’s PROBLEM
Not Shimakaze’s Fault.

Innit?

Why do you want to punish the system’s problem into a single ship?
