If you could, how would you re-balance CAS in Ground Battles?

Remove air spawns and extend match length^

Simply taking off halfway through the match and getting to the battlefield is a game ender. You literally cannot do a single thing due to ticket bleed.

Match length delves into the one-death-leaver problem. Matches CAN last plenty long. But this game has a problem with one death leavers causing matches to evaporate in a heartbeat. In my opinion the reward structure needs to encourage players to fight until the very end. I think gaijin made a good first step with the RP “skill multiplier” awarded for getting many kills, but I think that they need to go even further with rewards to encourage players to keep fighting to try to reach reward multipliers for not just RP but SL as well.

One-death leaving has no sway in ticket bleed or match length, unless purely by way of a teamwipe.

I’ve only had 1 match run out of time in the last month, and that was a 4.3 GRB match on a Battle gamemode.
Other than that, almost all matches that you have in GRB last 4-6 minutes. The longest may reach up to 9-10 minutes, with the shortest I have in my match history being 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
That happened 2 days ago.

It would be nice to have a visual aid for match longevity as well, or battle activity. Sort of like how awards appear on screen when you do something interesting, I think there should be some notification of “Hey, you’ve been alive this long so all [SL/RP] earnings will have this % boost.”

the overwhelming majority of matches that I play end in teamwipe. People just tap out early. Lots only bring a single premium vehicle instead of a lineup.

Teamwipes are becoming more common than ticket bleed wins… ODL is even a problem at lower BR’s now too because there is no real way to enforce people bringing an actual lineup. They bring one vehicle, once dead they bail. Even at BR’s where there are more possible lineups than 99% of players will have crew slots

Most of the ODL complaints and issues comes from premiums users where they use 1 vehicle with nothing else. Its way more common from 9.0 to top tier than anywhere else. There is a solution that I have shared before.

By doing so, most of the players doing ODL will be solved. The only ones we can’t do anything about are the ones that quit early from BS things that happen, give up due to CAS, only play certain vehicles to spade/make content from or from players that hate certain things like map design.

Not really, I played a lot of low tier matches and i rarely see a full team of ODL happen. If a few do it, its fine, but if the majority of team does it, its a problem.

It is not as common, but it is becoming more common. Even as low as 3.7 I am watching up to 1/4 of the team bail on first death, not even in premiums. Top tier ODL is just the rule instead of the exception anymore

I don’t think we can enforce bringing lineups, which is why I think that we need to encourage it instead with more lucrative rewards for playing the long game rather than the ODL sprint.

Beside that, lower of number of aircrafts by making them only to be available once in 5 minutes.
Had battle where it was more like airshow, than armored vehicles battle.
Also it would be very good if in arcade ground battles, ground vehicles couldn’t be shown on the battlefield for players in aircrafts. Played with Nashorn, almost all my deaths were from aircraft.
Because it is a glass cannon, I find some spot where I could snipe, pretty far away from “main” course of the battle. Because of that I get very few targets to show. So only opportunity to score, get ruined by aircraft. Aircraft just spit on me, my gunner is dead at best, but mostly whole crew perish.

You realize this is the Realistic Battles section right?

I wanted to tell him that too lol but I didn’t

Well I didn’t realised it. :)

Taken how many matches I’ve lost due to noob Russia/Germany mains rage switching to SPAA cause 1 plane, and leaving no1 to defend caps, yes I do believe less SPAA is good.

This would just encourage players to be useless

This would just encourage camping

We already have air alert

If it gives worse rewards than bombing players (which it well since they would be ai) then that wouldn’t solve anything.

If it gives more rewards than bombing players, then people would just ignore the actual battle and go after the ai. Not to mention, would tanks be able to damage ai? there’s certainly maps where they would be able to fire at any ai targets (e.g spaceport)

This be a bad idea no matter how it’s implemented.

So that CAS is even more accesible? Wtf makes you think that’s a good idea?

That’s subjective, and you’re free to play a different game.

That would screw over certain planes and not others, and also lead to far to many situations where the match ends before you can even reach the battlefield. If anything, planes should just get a really low alt airspawn.

No. This would mean a player with any ground vehicle could swap it for another, such as going from SPAA to tank when there aren’t any enemy aircraft up, or the other way, when aircraft are inbound, but player is in a non SPAA.

This would make SP useless for anything other than planes. Not to mention, how would it even be implemented?

  • Where would it be placed?
  • How many times can you switch?
  • What happens to a tank you switch out of?
  • Does it take into account the increased spawn cost of a second vehicle?
  • How long does it take to switch? Is there a cooldown, and if so, how long is it?

Not sure on where to place it. Map-by-map, I’m guessing would determine placements.

I see no reason to limit the number of times switching.

Nothing.

I would have it take into account how many points you spent on the vehicle you had for how many you got back, and I would not have a refunded vehicle count as having been spawned. (Bring your first vehicle back, and you get the SP back, take another vehicle out and spend the spawn points as if the previous vehicle had not been spawned. Dying in a vehicle would still increment the spawn counter as usual.

I would not want to make it take up a lot of time to do this. (GFRB matches are pretty fast these days) I would not put a cooldown on this at all. Now, for spawning back in, I could see giving the player a choice as to where to respawn. (spawn zone(s) or respawn zone)

The mechanic exists already for recon drones and nukes iirc. No particular reason such a mechanic would function any differently.

Though certainly something to consider is having essentially an AFK tank or SPAA on the battlefield. But could work well if “off-map” longer ranged sams were added.

I mean, would it be near spawn? Would it be near cap points?

So does the tank you spawn disappear, or does it just sit there when you spawn a new one? If it sits there, how many tanks can you have spawned in at once?

There’s a difference between freely switching between any 2 tanks at any time regardless of class, and switiching between a completely unarmed scout drone that has no repair cost or ability to cap points and a light tank, and ONLY a light tank.

Nukes are just a special case.

It would disappear. (Despawn) It could also be that despawning a damaged ground vehicle returns fewer spawn points to the player. (That should be fairly easy to figure up, for the devs)

I would also think the swap zones would be back near the spawn points, but not in them.

Remove No Fly Zone style AAA (IR topped with stingers, SACLOS with Roland 3 and 2s6) and reduce SP for CAP only (Fighter icon with a2a only weapons, cannons allowed, AP belts not). Poison as Medicine
