Stealth simply cannot be modeled to be too strong, it would destroy the game entirely, stealth vs stealth just flying around doing nothing against each, and stealth vs non-stealth being Guns and IR only whilst dodging long range missiles. It would be dull.
So its probably going to be heavily nerfed. An Advantage, but not invisibility and if it is that strong. I cant think of a single reason why they need anything stronger than Aim-120C1s
IRIS-T and MICA IR both have equal or greater pull and are slower off the rails. IRIS-T even has a specific low thrust motor stage specifically for it iirc.
IRIS-T will quite happily out pull a Aim-9X. 60G figures for it with the aforementioned low speed launch
MICA IR might match it at short range, but 9X doesnt have its range.
ASRAAM is stupidly fast (Mach 5+) with greater range, Its designed to kill anything before they can fire.
Python-5 I beleive is meant to be quite a big upgrade over it too.
Aim-9X is a jack of all trades master of none. It gets beaten pretty much every IIR missiles in at least one regard.
To be frank, they could have given the AIM-120D to the F-18E to actually make the plane relevant. Compensate the poor performance with great missile load and missile quality. Right now it’s just completely off meta.
why are we just ignoring the stats in game here they pull the same amount in game and the 9x has more range in game as well this is unlikely to change when added to aircraft
They literally did recently with the F-16A after community feedback. Here’s even the devblog about it:
“After reviewing your feedback on the Italian F-16A ADF armament, we will expand its arsenal to include AIM-120 AMRAAMs, which were used by these aircraft in Italian service. This will result in a BR increase for the platform, but will also bring it some new life where it can enjoy some more advanced and up to date weaponry.”
That was different though. The gave it historical missiles and moved it up to the appropriate BR.
They’ve never gone “this aircraft is underperforming at top tier, therefore we are giving it X missile so it has an advantage over the other top tier aircraft”
MBDA publically states 3+ which is where that figure comes from
But Flame has found docs regarding the ASRAAMs aerodynamic heating being extremely high and the only way a missile can reach those kinds of temps of aerodynamic heating based upon various research papers he found, was if it was traveling at like Mach 5+
MBDA is notorious for conservative public figures. Like Meteor is quite often understated loads. Like sometimes stating Meteor has an LSZ of 60km, but in other places has stated 100+km
It’s not done often but it has been done before by Gaijin, I’m 99% certain of it. For example, If I remember right, the MiG-29 started its life with the R-27R, and very quickly received the R-27ER because it was struggling too much.
donst really matter tho since the devs use their own calculations based on motor size and estimated fuel to determine thrust. so i doubt its ever gonna be anywhere near mc 5 in warthunder
Iirc, it was going to get R73 and R-27Rs, it was decided on the dev server that R-73s were too strong, so they swapped to R-60M and R-27ER. Which was maybe worse.
Oh yeah, right, that must be it. Though, I’m pretty sure it was released with the R-27R only, and like 1-2 weeks later received the ER because the stats weren’t satisfying. It’s been so long I could be wrong but yeah.
Anyway, the F-18E could have done with a missile glow-up. It’s an absolute disgrace and joke what they did to it.
EDIT: Check that, found the devblog again. No mention of ER.
