Finally spaded F-8E, and now i grind F-4C Phantom II. What a bliss, what a breeze! My advice: skip F-8E, unless you are masochist. This plane is dead.
Skill issue. F-8E is quite strong. The problem lies within your skill and tactics.
Oh please, cut the “skill issue” cliché—it doesn’t work. And whitewashing this crap doesn’t work either.
I’m being blunt with you. I’m a player who understands the game quite well ,especially in air, and the F-8E is very far from the list of “oppressed aircraft” that struggle in the current game. The problem is your flying. You are not applying good tactics and use of the plane’s strengths and that is the root of your problems.
Just for you, today I will play the F-8E and post a bunch of games here proving its worth in the current game. I don’t expect it will sway your opinion, because you seem to have arrived at a conclusion and then, inversely, start to backtrack backwards to find reasoning for said conclusion, but maybe it will and maybe we will have a conversation about it.

Partially. I know well that less-than-good vehicles can be played better if you adapt to them. But I honestly wonder how that’s possible with this particular plane. There’s a saying going around: “There are no bad planes (or tanks or ships), only bad players.”
The truth is, there are bad planes. And tanks. And ships—vehicles that suffer for one reason or another.

Well, the all F-4C Phantom II (lower BR!) has, and F-8E lacks as example.
F-4C has no flares and dies to anything with missiles that finds it. It also doesn’t have strong missiles of its own and relies on its gun for consistent kills.
And yet is is BETTER!
Why
In almost every aspect—speed, maneuverability (I killed an F-8E in a dogfight with it while it is not even spaded yet), and guns. I can often outmaneuver the missiles it faces, but I can’t outmaneuver the far superior missiles the F-8E often faces. The F-4C is not an underdog all the time, unlike the F-8E is now.
I’m going to be blunt. The You have no idea what you’re talking about. The F-8E is an excellent dogfighter. The F-4C is a bus that cant dogfight. You use small anecdotes like "(I killed an F-8E in a dogfight with it while it is not even spaded yet), " as evidence of this. This is not evidence of anything other than that F-8 pilot was not very good and made big mistakes in the “dogfight”. If we went into a 1v1 lobby right now you would lose every engagement with my F-8E in your F-4C. You would probably also lose every engagement if you also played the F-8E and I played the F-4C. You are confusing pilot skill with plane performance.
So as I said, the F-8E absolutely curb stomps the F-4C in a dogfight. There is no logical reason for you to think the F-4C is superior here.
You cannot outmaneuver the majority of the missiles the F-4C faces.
You can FLARE them though?

For me, it is. I perform far better with it, and I suspect others would as well. The F-4C is better. Period. My advice stands: avoid F-8E!

This is you speaking with feelings, emotion, and not facts. Can you present real facts for why the F-4C is better? The community overwhelmingly agrees that the F-8E is superior by the way.
I already told you: the F-4C performs better. It probably has better radar as well, although I haven’t unlocked the SARH missiles yet. The AIM-9Cs on the F-4E are pretty much unusable.
Community? Community…Have you seen F-8E’s in game? Perhaps. VERY rarely. THIS is opinion of your community. Almost no one plays it!
