How long will Aim120 be dominant?

you may be met with aim-260, r-37m and the pl-17

Phoenixes and fakour are also different

True, but I generally leave them out of the ARH discussion as they are kinematically dodgeable and not top tier missiles anyway

AIM-120 being better at BVR still stands.

This is not about seekers, it’s about their drag and R-77-1 will lose much more speed against maneuvering opponents.

In a 1v1 the mica is the most dominant, in the early game meta the aim-120 is. Because of the snowball effect in the TDM like AirRB the aim-120 is arguably the most impactful. Although it’s my least favorite modern fox3 missile.

And the R-77-1 has better time to target, even in BVR, which makes it better IMO, given that both are going to be easily avoided by any competent players

And it can actually hit maneuvering targets where it matters, what’s your point other than to moan that USSR doesn’t just get a copy paste missile

Better time to target against something coming straight at you without moving while also being launched at the same altitude and speed.
Both of those aren’t really representative of what happens in a real game.

Wrong. The only time they gave same time to target is when R-77-1 is launched both slower and lower, cry more

R-77-1 will be launched slower and lower as the platform carrying it is pretty slow. Now also include the fact that enemies will maneuver and you’ll get to the same conclusion as me. Thanks for proving my point.

This isn’t maximum range shot, it’s well below that actually.

I mean it’s not so hard to admit AIM-120 is better at BVR.

The AIM-120 is not better at BVR

In what way?

It has more practical range due to how much drag the R-77-1s have when turning, and the platforms that have it are much faster and better at BVR compared to the Su-30.

Yes AIM-120 is better at BVR due to the things we already discussed, I won’t repeat myself anymore on that. You’re free to think whatever you want though, I can’t change your mind.

Here you go, test it yourself and anyone on this post, half the people that talked in here has 0 idea about FOX-3 missiles (Im not necessarily referring to you Protogen).

The 77-1 has better speed, better acceleration, better engine, better maneuverability, it does have more drag and can be dodged at +30km but every single FOX-3 can be dodged even at 10km if you have the ability to use the brain.

Good old StatShark chart with same launch parameters against an AFK target.
Can you do something more convincing next time ?
