Based on that then a competent pilot shouldnt die to 120 spam.
And a better pilot is holding those missiles to maximise kill potential. The 25km range
Bringing parity to the R-77-1 and Aim120.
Ohhh you’re baiting me for the purpose of being inflammatory and not actually reading what I’m saying. I’m not going to engage with you anymore, have a good one.
10/10 bait btw, I totally thought you were being serious. Good job.
No, wtf are you on about? Sure the bvr platform matters. Planes more suited to bvr are going to be better at it. The drag on the r77-1 is so high that even launched from above mach 1.5 at 10km it simply doesn’t have the range the aim120, nor the same speed in terminal.
you can try shooting at 25km but a competetive pilot wont have a problem notching those, it will be at WVR where you are forced to face off and cant notch and at same time defend from ir missiles
Weird, if you look on the radar screen does it have the dashed line until at 16km it has the full line?
Like this:
yeah its range is worse but its not as crazy as people make it seem, a shot that the aim120 will hit an r77-1 will hit also 9/10 times
Its pretty drastic actually. Have you used the missile yet?
Let’s see if you can figure out whether I did something wrong or what. It’s the first time I use TWS in like years, so maybe I am just not getting it yet, hahah.
I was also killed in a pathetic way because I was tunel-visioned on the TWS testing, so ignore that xD
I was having 2-0 matches until I decided to test this TWS thing, ugh.
I don’t know, let’s see if you can see it!

EDIT: I just watched it to remember, and I can see I ended up losing my patience, switching to SRC PD, and getting the kill with it lmao. I should have just gone with that so that I would not have died while fooling around with TWS…
yes the su30sm was the first jet i got in the update and i hit 30km shots pretty regularly, but at the end of the day a maneuvering target at 40km is most likely gonna evade your missile regardless of what you shoot at them so its hardly a real advantage
I haven’t had nearly the same experience in bvr with the missile you have then.
i find the best ways to use bvr missiles is to shoot them at players not trying to do bvr, players below you rarely evade and usually hope multipathing saves them instead of notching. i rarely hit players at alt with either missile
Of course 2 equal pilots it reverts to guns
Missiles do not have NEZ modelled and everthing even the 120 can easilly be multipathed.
Watched your replay. You did everything right, he just notched your missile. If he didn’t notch it, it would have worked fine. The same would apply at any range you fried it outside of 16km.
Oh, I see, thanks! I may try again later.
no it does not
you can’t properly defend from side aspect ir missiles (especially r-73) and notch against a radar missile even as a competetive pilot almost any of the times. it may be easier against 9m though
the base skill of competetiveness does not mean god, it means that you know basic air combat, missilery and your usual defenses against missiles
it will happen in WVR and if it turns into a dogfight, at high altitudes one circle aircraft have advantanges, considering the su-30sm is for 1c, with the combination of r-73 it will be able to kill the eurofighter if it turns into a dogfight from wvr
this is from a bvr start. dogfight may go differently if it started at low altitudes, however this is not where the missile comparison is at
this isnt how planes work, its pros/cons the whole way, you cant have 12 missiles and still have the same fm etc
They do, its the box on the radar ranging.
A few are still misisng it like the Skyslugs, but the AMRAAM has it
I mean more they are too easy to defeat with multipathing and chaff
No the issue you said was 120s are the best.
You wouldnt swap 12 R-77-1 for 6 120s?
They Typhoon is limited to 6 120s.
