It’s an ARH and (IIRC) faster than the R-27ER, it also burns all the way to the target. The dodging matter is a different story (many people have trouble turning 90° for some reason). The point is that there is more to an enough range at which the AIM-120 is well within its optimal engagement zones.
Edit: The RWR does not scream all the way when you’re in TWS guiding it, only the last 16km when they have about 5 seconds to dodge
yet the launches are visible in radar and to eye, you can also expect it based on range and altitudes and i dont see any reason why a su30sm pilot wouldn’t see your launch if they are looking at you on tws
funny thing being, only for your situation to work is to assume that the su30sm pilot is blind
also funny how when r-77 is launched, in arguments everyone says that the hostile pilot instantly knows but then when amraam is launched we pretend that the pilot is blind to argue that the amraam is now so good
if you don’t like the 1c playstyle of russian fighters then you should play something else
it is not for everyones playstyle, it is what the russians picked as their tactic of engagements when making those aircraft and their requirements and weaponry
it isn’t worse, it is just different from what eurofighters have as they are more suitable for BVR engagements while su-30sm is better for WVR
However competetive pilots will always make it into WVR
Noob question- does this apply to every plane…? I normally don’t use TWS because I find it extremely unreliable, can barely find targets and is always fooled by chaff and missiles, but… I don’t know. I am going to try that now!
dont go offtopic regardless of how much you want it
make different post or dont c omplain when people talk to you about only ontopic matters
it is annoying when people come to this topic and start talking about something else
Only when guiding in an ARH from >16km, all ARH seekers in game go active at 16km so TWS is no longer needed to guide it. If you’re not guiding from TWS at those long distances your missile is relying on IOG until 16km, which causes them to miss a lot.
Your post is the equivalent of replying about bridges when I was talking about roofs. Just because you missed the point doesn’t make me off topic. Since you apparently need a breakdown of it here we go:
Spanish talks about engagement ranges in game with the 120
I reply talking about engagement ranges and using another missile as an example
We converse a little more about that
You reply with a completely unrelated statement about nothing we were talking about purely for the purpose of arguing
when the post is about bridges and not roofs
stop being mad when people talk to you about the actual topic instead of replying to you about what youre going on offtopic
I just tried TWS, and… at least on F-15C it’s rubbish lmao. Even with the target constantly locked in TWS, and the target not maneuvering at all, it still missed.
