How long will Aim120 be dominant?

Typical answer… considering nothing but the g limit

because the championship’s br range was 12.7 to 13.7, Ef, f15E and rafale are 14.0, the same goes for tanks, the br was 12.0, and all 12.0 vehicles were allowed. and even so the m1 abrams dominated the championship

Thunder cup actually didn’t allow the 2A7s and Strv 122s though.

Seems they don’t allow all 12.0 MBTs in their big esport tourneys.

EDIT: And to adress your other point. The Abrams is a very solid 1v1 tank, it being so easy to kill just hurts it a bit more in ground RB compared to tourney.

derby is 40g and that doesn’t mean it’s better than aim120, in fact derby is the worst missile in the game.

pl12 is 38g and is inferior to aim120.

Mica is good at short distances, but it doesn’t have half the cheff resistance of the aim120, apart from the range difference which is ridiculous.
People think Mica is a super powerful missile but they have no idea how it is to play 80% of the game defensively, to have the chance to launch a missile.
You only have the chance to launch a Mica after you managed to dodge 6 to 8 missiles from an F15.
Overall aim120 is still the dominant missile

I agree lol

What else should be taken into account? Where the AIM-120 cannot turn and will fly into the ground or go into traps, the R-77 will turn and fly straight into the plane. And the range does not matter.

Yes, but as you said, maps rn arent that big.

A test i just did with some friends, on equal situations, on the long run the AIM-120 is better againts a maneuvering target, both missiles miss tho and anyone should be able to notch them.

AIM-120 is just heading towards the chef.

So you’re complaining about someone who notched succesfully?

That’s the whole reason the AIM-120 is still in the lead for longer engagements. Especially if the target is attempting to dodge it kinematically.

Your test file requires me to download it and I’m currently not in a place with great internet so I’ll take a look later

All ARH seekers are identical except for the Aim-54A/C and F-90. They have different seekers.

MICA, Aim-120. PL-12, R-77, etc etc. have, as far as I am aware, 100% identical seeker performance.

The only differences are that in the kinematic performance of the missile and imo, at shorter ranges this makes MICA WAAAAY harder to defeat than Aim-120 or pretty much any other ARH. But at longer ranges I can usually defeat the MICA kinematically without the use of much or even any chaff. Aim-120 just has more energy to play with at the same kind of range that I can kinematically defeat a MICA with ease.

120 doesnt suffer drag like a parachute strapped on it compared to 77-1 and 77

in paper and raw performance 77-1 should be superior, but in game it is truly not superior on 120.

And because of that drag, you cant use it like 120 , it loses so much energy when your target just takes a small turn. So yeah, that 50g is nice on paper, but it doesnt work like mica… (Yes I know it doesnt have thrust vector either)

Yeah, but is not that big of a difference, is like PL-12 vs AIM-120 diference at +40km, before that the 77-1 is 1km ahead of the 120

Sounds good

MICA was changed to a smaller notch window and is marginally harder to dodge as of the latest update.

I say marginally because it is near identical until about 2km away, after which the differences can be seen.

Interesting, thank you.

You are creating a difference in your mind that does not exist in game.

77-1 also wobbles a lot currently. Makes it lose more energy than intended

That’s all TVC missiles I think.

77-1 ain’t tvc though

Its not? Thought they were. My bad
