If we had 256x256km maps, then AMRAAM would hold a notable advantage. But given WT’s average engagement range is about 20km. The AMRAAMs core strengths are greatly diminished. Probably still the best, but by an extremely slim margin that other nations are emphasising to get major AAM buffs / further AMRAAM nerfs
I’m speaking from air RB perspective where USA is better overall than USSR lmao, not about ground where ussr has actually some reason to be disliked or thought to be biased

Amraam is deadly when fired from 3-4km to 50-60km depending on circumstance. It is not disadvantaged.
But when compared to the off-boresight potential of the MICA or R-77. The AMRAAM is one of the weakest in a dogfight.

Why are the competitive air scenes dominated by F-15Cs and SAAF Gripens, when the Rafale/EFT/F-15E have existed for months now and when R-Darters are apparently some of the worst BVR missiles according to the people here.
Don’t get me wrong, the Abrams aren’t bad, but they are not close to 2A7/Strv 122 performance.

Are they really banned for use?
They were banned during the thunder cup tournament that happened a while ago. Seems like they are slowly being allowed more now from a quick look at the website.

To create a more balanced approve to E sport , it is not that weird when it come to game like Warthunder tbh , gaijin themself probably know about the group of vehicle that dominate top tier , so they have to make something happen or the tournament gonna be average top tier gameplay. E-sport ready btw, maps suck ass, vehicle are not well balanced , br placement issue , inconsistent in gameplay and they really focused on selling overprice premium instead of fixing problem
The lists for these tournaments can be incredibly special regardless. iirc the thundercup list had the Merkava Mk.2B as the 4th vehicle for Israel, in a top tier tournament.

Because THOSE are the dominant vehicles. So dominant that they are officially acknowledged to be too good to fit the competitive scene.
Leopard 2A7V, Leopard 2A7HU, Strv 122B+, Strv 122B PLSS, Strv 122A…
And, after those, Type 10 and TKX are most popular due to their extreme rate of fire and mobility even despite of the nerfs.
Of course, not counting any of these 8x tanks, the Abrams becomes “the best” lol. Then it’s actually more like Top 8, being generous.
And that’s why I’m so disappointed thst we haven’t seen a single new counterpart, or fixes to correct the currently ingame counterparts and make these more competitive, in so many years…

Yeah but if you have been playing top tier you understand why they have to restrict those vehicle. I understand that everyone have access to all tech tree but Gaijin is super incompetent game dev when it come to game balancing and map design so that what we , the player , have to deal with
