Ive flown the yak-7b a bit and the things impressive for its BR. the same thing but better is quite obviously going to be a goof flyer

Your “a bit” are 2 games, and it is the only Yak you ever flew. Thats not enough to get a judgment about something. Also Yak-7 isnt exactly great and keeping energy or gaining it. In those games with your “broken FM keeping energy” plane, you died twice and got a single kill. Thats not exactly showing a broken plane.

Yeah the M-82FN does lose power at higher alt but since the Yak-3U is such a light and clean airframe it can still somewhat maintain its performance far above its optimal altitude. The other aircraft that share this engine are heavier + higher drag so the power loss compounds with the worse flight performance.

ive played more games than that as its almost spaded no clue whats going on there. Flies as good as a good as a mk5 spit (slightly worse in turns) and the canon rips up ground targets quite well

You literally didnt. I checked Statshark. The only Yak you ever flew was Yak-7B.

Also so you cant make up things, here is screenshot from game.

never claimed to fly anything more than the yak7b. Ive played it more than it shows on my starcard i dont know whats going on there.

that plane but better is an obvious good aircraft. thats all i state

You literally couldnt play it more than what the game shows. You are making up things, at this point you are worse than Alvis with being delusional and straight up lying.

I don’t wanna comb through my own replays just to find examples of me flying in a straight line away from Soviet fighters at altitude… but surely we’ve all had this experience? I posted a WTAPC shot of the Mustang versus the Yak-3U elsewhere… but here it is again, expanded to include other aircraft:

Even the modest performance of the La-7 on this chart keeps it competitive to over 5km (and if you’ve even tried to pull away from one at high altitude, you’ll wonder why its so hard to create space/separation).

Quick reminder: that graph does not include prop efficiency

This graph is… interesting to say the least. I’d like to see these scenarios recreated in game because I doubt that the K4 has better power to weight than the H5NA above 6K. Also curious about that significant plateau the H5NA experiences at around 4.5k to 7k -ish, looks really artificial?

The only reason I use WTAPC is because my cheap ass doesn’t have the premium version of WTRTI (to compare more than three aircraft) and their graphs look nice.

WTRTI has been super interesting - I watch HP to check/verify super charger gear shift altitudes… but watching power fluctuate got me interested in exploring the topic further. Lots of aircraft lose BIG power at high altitude, but not all are equally affected by the power loss.

@RXDimA - excellent point and hugely important. Power to weight isn’t the whole story.

If you’re ever interested, give the TU2S 44/59 a whirl and watch how much more agile you are above 6k compared to most fighters, you can genuinely dunk on most of em because your power output suddenly trumps theirs, it’s super fun.
