How is the P51H5 6.3?

Seriously why is that thing so low? What am I meant to do in my LA9 against that thing, even the worst player in the world can ass pull energy out the yin yang and completetly neutralize you in two turns. It’s already painful enough to fly props but this coin toss of “oh I hope I don’t have p51H’s in my match” is ruining late tier props.

Because the average P51H5NA pilot isn’t good enough to cause its rewards to be notably higher than other 6.3s.

Some have called this “skill issue”.

Please read my post again before making useless comments.

And on the off chance you think the LA9 is superior to the P51H5, I strongly recommend you check your room for signs of mold or a potential gas leak.

Why do you compare it to la9 though? Why not Yak-3U?

Now, im not an expert on USSR props outside of what I need to know to beat them, but if I somehow ended up in la9 vs p51h, I’d expect to have a good chance of beating it, by pulling it to low alt, and bleeding it of its energy in the vertical, and once he’s slow he’s done for

from what i remember fighting p-51h-5s they’re pretty tough but no more undertiered than the griffon spitfires or the ta-152s

chances are you can catch one recuperating from a dogfight or distracted by a teammate but you only get one shot and after that good luck keeping up with its climb rate

at the end of the day it all comes down to energy management and positioning but the la-9 does get some beefy cannons so if you can make the shot then you should be good

I never said it wasnt, in fact I love flying it. I also think it’s where it belongs, 6.0 is perfect for it.

Meanwhile, you haven’t flown it a single time, and you’re a below average player so I fail to see what your impressions are based on and why I or anyone with a modicum of skill should ever pay attention to your pathetic trolling.

Irrelevant, the P51H is so good that even the worst pilot can do well in it.

Cute.

That would be a terrible idea since the LA9 is heavy and has very poor vertical retention, in that scenario the P51H can just WEP up over your nose and stall you out effortlessly, and if it ever gets in trouble all it needs to do is straighten up and speed away. The only weaknesses the P51H seems to have from fighting it are terrible low speed roll and a capricious rudder, that’s it.

That strategy relies on luck or a decent team, but once again if a P51H decides it wants you dead, you’re going to die, period.

The La-9 can’t do anything against P51H5NA. La-9 lacks the sustained dogfight capability.

@SoupFella
TA-152s aren’t under-tiered at all. They’re worse than the Spitfires, and the Griffon Spitfires are worse than the P51H5NA.

I think worse drastically undersells just how large the gap is between them an the P51HNA

US mains when they try to low alt turn fight a zero in their p51 for the 1,000th time.

At altitude I believe they’re similar, but below 5500 - 6000 meters, P51 just has better engine heat management which allows it to inject methanol continuously for superior dogfight performance.

Afaik that’s still limited to 12 minutes before the engine starts to die but it’s still insane since most matches rarely last more than 15 min anyway.

Ah so la-9 is like a Dora, but instead of using the vertical, it plays in the horizontal, I see. Well, than you’re not supposed to be caught playing around your yaks who pull enemies into dogfighting

Ta152h worse than spitfires? She beats most of them in stall fights, mk24 she outturns with flaps (yep)
Ta152h also beats p51h and it’s not even close

(Yes, these clips are old. No, it didn’t change since then)

i dont know but lately i think gajiin is extremly pandering to US vehicles make them OP to sell more premiums and stuff.

Same playerbase that brought us wonders such as 2.7 F4U-1A + P-39N and 4.7 F8F-1 with fixed rudder

I don’t have a problem in ki-84 against it

The P-51H is a great prop, no doubt. In many ways, it’s the ultimate expression of a U.S. prop - with one key difference from those that went before: it’s not just good at being fast, it’s good at getting fast.

That being said, it’s not magic… you might say it’s just the U.S. counter to the Yak-3U. If you’ve had to fight a 3U with a same BR or lower prop, you are already familiar with the experience of fighting a plane that pulls energy out of thin air (or really any sort of air), while also being pretty OK at turning. In fact, that’s the same experience you get flying against the La-7 and Yak-3.

I’d be happy to see some U.S. props get another look at their BR… and the same goes from some of the criminally under tiered Soviet stuff as well. That being said, U.S. and USSR pilots would need to stop feeding their planes to British and Japanese pilots like snacks to make that change happen.

According to your stats you’ve never flown the La-9.
(P.S. the La-9 is a terrible plane for it’s BR).

I looked at your most played plane (by far) the Spit24 - you have a negative KDR in it.

Most planes you’re struggling to break a 50% win rate.

So I’m not sure why you felt the need to comment on the La-9.

I use the mk24 only in GRB as a CAS and CAP option, all those ground kills are players.

winrate means nothing in aircraft.

doubt.

Is this the part where I tell you “Cope”? Because my winrate is consistently above 60% and I exclusively fly solo. For example I’ve got an 86% WR on the P51D20 even though it’s a mediocre plane unlike the LA9, mostly because I know how to clutch matches on my own.

By the way I’m not even that good, and I often struggle in amazing planes like the meteor mk8, I just can’t make it work.

I’d need to fly the yak3U to make a statement, but I honestly believe the P51H would win the fight by keeping its speed up and dragging the yak up at altitude, and even if the yak pilot is smart and keeps low I still believe the P51H can win without much trouble.

You’re forgetting the P51C at 3.7, with better performance than the P51D20 at 4.0 (lol)

I wouldn’t say so, it’s quirky and has a very peculiar playstyle that most people won’t like but ironically for all my whining about the P51H, the way you fly the LA9 is pretty similar to the playstyle required to make P51’s work, you have to stay fast and play energy and get that first shot to piece your enemy appart. And honestly the LA9 is the sort of plane where aim matters more than flying imo because the guns only require one hit to win (I love the NS23 so much).

There’s this very odd elitist mindset to this community that anytime someone voices legitimate concerns about a vehicle doing poorly because it’s overtiered, people will say “skill issue” and “I do well in it so clearly you’re the problem” wether the points made by OP are good or bad. Similarly if someone asks why a vehicle is allowed to roam around and dominate a whole BR range and oppress whole matches, people will write “Cope”, “skill issue” etc. The really funny part is that usually the people doing this are pretty bad at the game, and it seems like a little ritual to reassure themselves that they’re still above the person they’re mocking.

As a guy that has a few matches in the P-51H and none in the Yak-3U, my opinion is only half formed… that being said, the P-51H (really the whole family) doesn’t fare particularly well at altitude. The Mustang has only a marginal advantage in energy production above 6500 m… and not enough to overcome the superior MER of the Yak-3U from a equal energy merge.

The challenge for the Mustang is that the Yak-3U out rates the Mustang at every speed (while its wings are still attached) and has similar sustained turn performance. The advantage of the P-51H is speed. Forcing a positional advantage over time by using higher rip/dive speed, or superior in-line speed to enter a fight with higher energy and ending/extending before the Yak can equalize.

It’s a surprisingly balanced match-up considering their difference in BR. That said, what I wanted to express (poorly it seems) was that flying against the Mustang for its opponents is similar to flying against the Yak-3U… particularly in a lower BR aircraft. Neither is an especially good experience.
