The reasoning given is that all 3 countries ingame funded the P4E, which includes the AMK kit. And that all 3 countries are “planned” to get AMK so the report is justified. But similarly, Germany is not “planned” to utilize PIRATE for its future Typhoons but was given PIRATE anyway. And if you justify it as, “Well Germany tested it”, then what criteria are we going by? Planned? Tested?
Spoiler

Italy trialed the ECRS mk.0. The ECRS mk.2 was mainly trialed by the UK (with Leonardo being part of the development ofc).
Way to miss the entire point of what OP was saying.
Source?
You’re welcome.
Okay here’s the actual source from that thread: Eurofighter ISPA 6 Instrumented Series Production Aircraft and Captor E-Scan radar - Aviation Report
Is there a reason the Italian EFT got Mk.2 and not Mk.0 even though functionally both are the same in-game atm?
The fact that Italy will have ECRS mk.2 as the radar system for the ordered 24 T4+ Eurofighters.
Gaijin is too lazy to “model” 3 different radars.
Though if EW does come in the near-ish future, it would have an impact on balance
Mk1 and Mk2 are close enough in that regard that it shouldnt matter. Mk0 could be notably weaker
Are you so sure about that? Ithink in the average mid range engagement the enemy plane will always enter the 90+degree field when youre notching the enemy missile and hes doing the same. And for longer range BVR having more than 90 degrees means you can go cold to some degree while maintaining a lock. Youre probably right that none of this will make a difference for the average lawnmower player but experienced players will 100% be able to use that advantage effectively
There’s speculation that AMK kit is required as part of P4E due to increase in requirements and weight and some things of that sort. Anyway, German EFT did test IRST but it isn’t included in their ordered Tranche 4 EFTs.
And to add onto the conversation, both Italy and the UK tested the AMK kit.
The likelyhood of it having an actual impact on the outcome of a duel is unlikely in my opinion.
Not enough to change the outcome in my experience.
Turning actually cold to the target and physically flying away, maybe, though not even the Mk2 can actually see the target. but angling those extra 10 degrees would likely make chaff in-effective, especially with the state of BOL and probably result in me being killed. Ive been hit more than a few times when my notch was off by 1-2 degrees and the missile just ignored the BOL.
With the Su-30SM2 (if ive got the right airframe there) they actually can fly “away” from the target, maybe enough to actually meaningful drain a missile, but even then. If the shot was fired right (fast, high and not too far away) that tactic shouldnt work
The most I can see is if a missile is coming in from a slightly different angle, to the target, the Mk2 might be able to maintain the lock, but its probably not going to be the end of the world
High experience player vs high experience player in a 1v1… maybe. But the likely outcome would be that both sides fire AMRAAMs at each other until they both run out and then the fight becomes a WVR gunfight.
It should get the PIRATE even if they just tested it. The Iranian F-14 tested the R-27R (it didnt work) and it still got them.
I can’t remember as of now the article that I’ve read, but ECRS mk.2 was mentioned.
We can’t sadly use anything Italian as the press conference and consequent PDF file provided by Leonardo doesn’t mention the radar. I’ll edit my message to include it.

The highlighted line translates to: As per the new Spanish Halcon II order of last week, the new Italian Eurofighters will be equipped with advanced avionics and new weapons (such as, Brimstone III and Meteor), new sensors and improved connectivity/link.
As per usual, the Italian government doesn’t go into detail (an example would be the fact that we never official announce aid packages to Ukraine, although we keep on sending them).
The British didn’t fit it onto their aircraft as far as I am aware and they didn’t confirm their purchase so I still don’t think they should get it if they only sent pilots to test it on foreign vehicles. And if that is the case can we just take times countries tested other countries’ vehicles and ask gaijin to give it to both countries?
Edit: There were test dones with Italy, German and UK pilots in Manching, Germany. According to one of the sources on the Bug report that got accepted.
Respectfully, what experience tho? These are the first 90+ degree radars in the game and i think neither of us 2 have the other EFT on the dev and we obviously havent played them in an actual live game. Ofc theres a chance that im completely wrong and itll make no difference but just according to the basic rules ARH engagements play by it should be a noticeable advantage. Im glad that you mentioned the SM2, because that thing will essentially do what the UK EFT does but even better and with more and better missiles. And while 90 vs 100 might not be a crazy difference 90 vs 120 sure is
A years worth of long ranged BVR combat in the previous Typhoon. Though that works the same though.
You are saying that the +/- 100 will make a big difference. but its not added yet as these are first radar in game with it.
