How do i play 12.0 with my phantom

By actually understanding how plane combat works, like from other games if you ever played IL-2 Sturmovik lets say, or watching documents about WWII and the fights there, etc. And then by playing with better people.

At what lvl did u buy it?

ok? I will learn that altitude is important, the stuff about potential and kinetic energy, I’ll learn BnZ, I’ll remember which enemies I shouldn’t engage in rate fights with, and so on and so forth regarding piston-engine aircraft. And?

How will prop’s tactics help me in BVR? How learning to fly a prop will help me with a completely different aircraft with different flight characteristics on different altitudes and speeds, which relies on missile armament rather than dogfighting or BnZ? You can understand the concepts of energy in combat and positioning on a jet (which differs from a prop), but at the same time, a person will get used to the aircraft on which he will research the TT, get used to the enemies he may encounter, instead of memorizing the characteristics of dozens of props that he will never meet again

The community: “Why don’t players ask for help, and just jump right into the game, they are all bad and not wanting to get better”

The community when someone asks for help: “You are bad and should not be playing”

Also grinding props doesn’t help with jet combat that much. The average prop player isn’t good enough for you to meaningfully increase your skills in jets by the time you reach 11.0+ either.

To tackle one of your complaints:

To avoid this: Fly above the enemy and time the firing of the missile so it’s as close to 90° or perpendicular to the ground as possible when it reaches the target. This prevents the multipath effect by sandwiching the target between the missile and the ground. Of course, you also have to be more aware of incoming threats while doing this.

Assuming you are also close to the ground, due to various circumstances, pitch upwards as you fire the missile so it arcs, rather than flying straight then into the ground. This won’t always work, but it drastically reduces the effects of multipathing.

Have been doing this since a bit ago and it has been helping, thank you

I’ve still got a question regarding flares/chaff.

Should i have both keybinded on 1 key, meaning both chaff and flares would be sent out once I press said key

Or,

Should i have them keyed seperately as some planes tend to have limited countermeasures, so to not waste any.

For now I’ve got both of them keybinded on the same key, as im not too familiar with all the missiles, (i can tell apart which ones are IR and radar judging by my RWR, but what if the enemy fires both IR and radar missiles?

Use 2 keys. Personally I use Q for flares, and one of my mouses side buttons for chaff, but use whatever works best.

You’ll have to guess based on what your RWR is telling you, and the launch characteristics of the missile. A plane like the F-4S won’t be using IR missiles in a headon, but almost all Russian planes will.

Yes, you should have them on separate keybinds. I use both of my side mouse buttons for an example.

The main reason you want to have them on different keys, is that a lot of aircraft don’t have enough capacity to be wasteful.

Another reason is that flares will give away your position to players who may not have seen you, if you only needed to pop chaff.

As a side note: you should watch Defyn’s and MiGan Fox-3’s guides on YT for learning how to deal with IRCCM and radar missiles.

I was under impression that “going back to prop” usually means to go back to props and play through the TT normally to gradually get introduced to different ranks and how they play; not that they should stay at props till they get good with them and then go back playing jet.

obviously all of the know-how doesnt translate well between props and 12.0+ jets, but some of the props know-how translates to early jets, early jets to IR only jets and so on so forth.

This 100x through.

If I tell someone they should maybe try props, I don’t mean go play props then swing right back into your 12.0 premium.

Take the time to play the early jets, learn what they are and are not good at, and then move up a bit to early IR missiles. Once you get there and learn to basic evade and maneuver, you’ll be much better off at 12.0 and will often times do much better.

Jet combat is everything everywhere all at once. If you don’t train yourself up to that point where you can handle everything, you are in a very bad position. So, playing earlier jets can help teach you what’s going on, what’s wrong, and what you need to work on to get better at higher BR jets.

Eventually, if you want, you can do all 3 options 😉

  • Dedicated Flare Keybind
  • Dedicated Chaff Keybind
  • Combined Flare+Chaff OH SH*T Keybind 😄 If you are pretty certain you are going to die anyway, why not just dump everything in case it actually helps?

Just kill em first. I’m not even kidding. If you launch your Sparrow at an F/A-18 before he launches his, he loses. Doesn’t matter that his plane is better, he already lost.

Either way, the worst thing you can do right now is continue playing the F-4S. There’s simply too much to learn that can’t be learnt through reading. You need actual experience in positioning, and a deeper understanding of how missiles actually work.

No, that is useless advice. He bought it, it is his, he can play whatever he wants. There has been plenty of good advice shared in this thread and he has already made massive improvements to his gameplay.

Are you sure? Going from 0.2 to 0.8 (for example) is massive improvement, but still terrible.

Can and should are very different. Buying it was his first mistake.

Good thing it’s not your account, or your money.

Also, stat shaming is excessively lame and pathetic. Grow up.

???

So because I didn’t make the mistake, I can’t point out the mistake???

I basically did what you did lol Rushes bases, head on and pick up off players after the match calmed. Worked for me pretty well. Was able to reach to that F-111 in a week of grinding with just the F-4S. Can careless about wr or K/D. Just wanted that 15k RP to 60K RP per game to reach top tier quick by taking 1 base and 1 or more kills.

Idk what changes they done recently but back then I got 10k RP per base with extra more with kills.

Example: When I used the British Phantom.
58k RP here

It was not a mistake. You are expressing your OPINION. Not a fact. Get over yourself, no one cares that you THINK it was a bad idea. You think way too highly of you OPINIONS.

Go worry about yourself instead of spreading negativity everywhere that you go. I already remember how you have acted on the forums over the course of months and years. You are still negative and toxic. Sad really.

@Surbaissemaxxing
Yo Surb, @SilentTracker is being silly. Can you help clear up this discussion so it doesn’t get derailed?
