They shouldnt be changed, but the battle of the Milan could be lowered to 9.0
That would be the same like the FFA P-16 - a much older, much slower aircraft… o.O
9.0 would be much too low I think. Generally - as always and everywhere - decompression would be highly necessary, but just moving down the Milan like that would make it overly powerful even as “fighter”…
I dont know if it were to make it overly powerfull.
There is only one way to find out.
And lets not forget that russia has aircraft at 9.3 with R-60’s that go around mach 1.
Milan is quite strong in air to air. It is a striker fighter but it’s based on a fighter/interceptor.
I used to bomb in it to grind silver lions but did decently air to air wise anyway. There is more competition for the bases now so you will have to fly a bit higher and be ready for bases further back or drop them if you see air targets that are approachable.
Yak-38 is massive pile of garbage. It also takes 10 business days to turn.
Does anyone feel like they changed the guidance of NORDs and possibly other MCLOS guided a2g munitions? Ive played the G91 with nords quite some time ago and the guidance on those felt way easier than it is with the NORD on the MILAN (maybe too easy since it wasnt a big problem to even hit maneuvering/actively dodging tanks, it only got difficult trying to guide it in while dodging gepards firing at u).
Id assume the guidance on all MCLOS guided munitions was changed similarly? Now for the 4 NORD loadout of a G91 at 8.7 thats not too much of a problem since, ofc, you have 4 of them, missing one ain’t such a big problem. Having only one NORD though the AS-30 version instead of the AS-20 with much more explosive mass is a bit of a problem if its that hard to somewhat guide it.
Off the rail it drops like crazy, when it gets back into your FOV it overcorrects like crazy and somehow never flies straight. Now, as i said that might be a good thing making some cas a bit less oppressive, but a one NORD loadout which takes serious skill and knowledge about enemy positions/scouting to even be able to target something can hardly be called oppressive? Ofc with the Milan you get much safer launches due to its much higher speed and thrust to weight ratio so you can climb and launch from above the battlefield. But you also have to face Rolands, Iglas, Strelas, Osas and even Tunguskas without countermeasures and RWR. In Uptiers or full uptiers you will see the Su25BM with R73s, Like thats not even on the same planet if you compare their a2g or a2a capabilities. Making it absolutely pointless to spawn it in full uptiers.
I still like the plane a lot but considering its effectiveness its basically pointless since youd usually be more effective spawning any french ground vehicle in the 9.7-10.0 range or even the 9.7 gazelle or the 10.0 Tiger HAP.
…which is as it should be. The NORAS required constant correction during its flight, which - coupled with the fact that the pilot should still also fly the jet and survive air defense - made its use very difficult, which resulted in the fact that it was quite quickly phased out in the Swiss Air Force.
Lil’ sidenote: I was involved in the creation of a dedicated simplified NORAS sim designed by a specialist for the NORAS from the Mirage Club Buochs. The sim only shows a video recording of an approach to the target on the screen as seen by the pilot (flown by me in MS FSX back then…), and an overlay showing the missile. The sim is controlled with the original NORAS control stick, and the inputs and reactions by the missile are very authentic. After the missile reached the target, it shows distance to the defined target point.
…and it’s indeed tricky, and I wouldn’t want to do this barreling down at fast subsonic towards a well defended target without the possibility to flinch or even jink!
Controls in WT are notably simpler, but then that’s ok as it’s after all still a game…
Interesting, thx for sharing that irl experience. I like when stuff in game is actually possible to be modelled more in a way of how it behaved irl. Yeah in a way i like it being more challenging.
Now at least the 4 nords on 8.7 g91s arent basically 4 guaranteed kills unless youre fully uptiered into stinger spaa and are completely oblivious with the best of these being on your own team (Wiesel spaa is quite hard to deal with imo if you got no idea where hes hiding since it is so easy to find a sneaky spot and the rendering on it seems to not work on it more often than it does). I like a challenge with making powerful long range cas ordinance work and it was somewhat dumb that the nords always continued flying straight away from the camera so with just tapping the missiles elevators it was easy af to guide.
Still makes you wonder how a ground attacker with the only thing going for it being its speed to get above the battlefield and one quite hard to guide NORD at 9.7 compares to Yak-130s with 4 tv guided bombs at 9.3 or even the Scimitar with 4 NORDS at 8.7 (though admittedly one of the best groundpounders in that whole BR range).
That very limited loadout usually makes it a waste for me and the team, even if i somehow manage to get one or two kills with the SNEBS after possibly failing to hit the NORD and not pancake since the MILAN picks up speed in a dive like crazy even when airbreaking. In a tank you could get way more pressure on the map in the same time than wasting all that time loitering above the ao waiting for chevrons or scouts.
I raise you one P-16 from the Fifties, with no guided A/G weapons at all, at the same BR as the Yak and J-22…

What a sad view^^. Well its a designated fighter so like any of these without a2g armaments and no cas to counter its a bit of a waste of time at these brs in ground rb. Thats comparable to the new F101C or all of the F104s that also have limited or no a2g loadout (and the f104s cant even properly fight cas in ground RB) bc you cant point your nose at speed and speed is all you have to not be shot down by other jets or spaa while trying to get the enemy cas.
That true Actually Waste money I have milan I buying this useless premium .
