Here is why map sizes are shrinking and will continue to shrink

as a wise man once said, “democracy is a govenment by the people, for the people, but the people are retarded”

Exactly the point I was making.
Although, to be fair - I think them saying a “significant part of the playerbase wants this” that I was referencing is quite dubious, to say the least. I don’t remember a poll asking if people wanted bigger or smaller maps…

The Problem that i have now is that i do not know any other game that has, what warthunder once had…
i am really desperate by now. They are ALL quick Brawl kind of games, Warthunder stood out like a beacon in the night, that is why i played it almost daily for years…
I would not mind buying it, but i cannot find one… i miss warthunder, really. not the one i could play now ( I ultimately uninstalled it since a few months, the stupid just went too far) but the one it once was.

They’ve done a few “submit what we should change” polls in the past few years. Also they have data from the map like/dislike system and the map banning system.

Well, the game went mainstream and that was the cost.

But what do they expect to win by making their game just like every other?
There is a reason the game went so big during the years… people liked it as it was.

It went big when they started adding more modern vehicles. As for what they win, they get the casuals that make those other games popular and profitable.

But that is what i mean…
they had a stand out feature which was realism. Big Maps. Realistic maps, you had to think what you are doing, use your brain.
i stopped playing WoT immediately after i discovered Warthunder, and did play it on an almost daily basis since 2018… because it was so different.

Now, it is the same as WoT.
Why should people change from the #1 of Tank games to one that just tries to imitate it?

Cause the player base are ones pushed for the changes.

Excellent post. This aspect is especially important, as Ground RB is basically the perfect combination of mechanics to be “Steamroll: The Mode”.

Ground RB maximizes easiness of enemy detection (third-person) and simplified aiming systems (optics inside gun barrels, generic simple reticle for all tanks), combined with ease of keeping yourself hidden at the same time (third-person over cover so you literally can’t be seen, almost no real time team communication of positions due to lack of markers, no barrel collision so you can hug that cover you’re peeking over). Combined with relatively low mobility (especially relative to a normal FPS), rather open maps, few capture points (must travel predictable and easily watched paths), respawns only at home base (travel time, and passing through the same killing zones again), and especially bad, a respawn point system (giving players who do well even more ability to do well, the definition of snowballing).

And that’s just a quick list.

I played Poland yesterday at 3.7 Italy, the summer version that I have not seen for a long time. I went left side away from the lake and found myself in a big open land totally devoid of any cover at all. Luckily, I have bushes and am quite good at long range fire so I got two but of course got killed pretty quickly.

It occurred to me that apart from Gaijin removing all the features ,which shocked that neither team was really moving, we were just sitting trading shots over a central Zone.

Nobody was attacking a point or defending one like in a real war situation, I might have survived if we were all moving forward but we were not so all of us in the open died and soon.

Its not just about map size (although that is a huge issue) its about the setup of the scenario as well that dictates game play.

It is also a stampede to move to cover before the CAS rolls assuming there is any .

You have zero clue what moderating means. Or you’re just Gaijin biased. Seeing your avatar and presuming you’re Russian, adds up.

FYI moderators, anywhere, for any situation, are supposed to be completely neutral and quiet, zero opinions and zero comments. Only to moderate. Not have “power” and also push their own ideas and preferences.

When a moderator is hosting a presidential forum, do they give the presidential candidates their own personal views and tell them how it should be, or do they just ask the questions and let the citizens hear the views of the intended parties? Ideally with people with integrity and who follow the rules of society, they don’t push their views, they only moderate. Because they’re in a position with more “power” than the average person. The exact same applies here and on any forum. We should never know or want to know the views or preferences of the moderators. Because even the appearance of favoritism or bias ruins the whole thing and people don’t forget, that memory is always there and it does create animosity and division. And this place is full of it.

Actually you get a single ban with premium and 0 bans without. Dislikes/Likes do nothing.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

Yeah, and it had logic behind it. Because it’s a Russian company and this person I was commenting to always sides with the company and certain viewpoints, and usually criticizes certain people based on what seems like bias, hence the accusation by me. It’s pointing out an observation, not just randomly throwing slurs around like some here do.

There’s a difference between doing that, and stating an opinion (which honestly is somewhat true) Sniping in War Thunder gets boring AF when you can’t push and are just hill peeking, and there’s 0 skill needed for anything above 8.7. The second part of their statement about tanks taking hits is somehwat true too.

I’d rather have them interact than not interact.

You say you are against division, but then create division by assuming members are Russian which makes it seem like you think that they support stuff Gaijin does.

This forum does not need any of that.

welp im out

It is still assuming. Even assuming Russian=Gaijin shill is an opinion this forum does not need.

I’ll reply to this with - pick any popular games from USA and tell me there’s any biased way you can tell they’re from America. Chances are you can’t.

As far as this guy, again I’m not really assuming based on past routine comments and viewpoints. If his avatar showed a bird I’d assume he likes birds. If his views always side with climate change I’d assume he’s a climate change fan and prefers it. It’s what we do as humans, we see patterns and we hear views. It is what it is. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game in general, but I can’t stand some of the suspected bias going around. And this was all revolving around the comment about the moderators being able to have a vocal opinion, which could be biased and they have more “power” and are closer to the company than the average one of us.
