Helicopter PvE game mode and fire and forget atgms "20km reach" faster than other premium helicopter atgms and tech tree ones

I know not everyone plays the Helicopter PVE mode but those who do or those who have gave it a shot and might show up every now and again know what I am talking about here in this message.

Since Gaijin has added the fire-and-forget ATGMs to the game, the Heli PvE mode has gone to crap. Things like the BA 11, CM 502, LMUR, and the AGM 179 need to be in a entire different bracket of the mode, like make the helicopters that have these weapons of destruction be it there own match of Helicopter PVE. These weapons do nothing but make a certain number of players NOT WANT TO PLAY THE PVE mode for helicopters.

I know this because I played these helicopters in the mode and all I had to do was sit in the middle of the map and hover to around 3500km or 4000km and press two clicks of the keyboard and just move my mouse a tiny bit and off goes the atgms and they make it to the enemy bots beofre any other atgms like hellfires or Vikrs or what have you.

Trust me I do like not having to do a thing to make kills but come on its PATHETIC and ruins the game play for any new player to the mode that has bought a premium helicopter or that has ground out there way to the higher BR helicopters and those people that have ground thier way to the higher BR’s and to get the weapons I feel bad for because they can not get much in the way of points when you have @holes “like me & others” sitting there destroying everything that pops up on the screen with these fire and forget weapons that have a reach of 20km and are FASTER then any other atgm…

So after I myself have ground out and recieved the weapon of destruction I play the mode with the helicopter and the weapon 1 or 2 times to get the hang of it and then I choose not to play the helicopter in that mode anymore knowing that it takes away the factor of other players getting points and SL thats because I was in that same spot and sure it bites but im not going to do that horrible play style to other people trying to grind thier own lines of helicopters and I make sure that I end up letting other players take part and gain the XP needed to get through the lines.

Sorry, but these weapons have ruined that game mode. GAIJIN, PLZ put these vehicles in their own bracket of the mode for PVE, just like it is in ground RB in their own bracket(BR range) and Please don’t be that @hole and youknow who you are and know whats messed up and whats not be a man and step it up and let the next person get it in so they can grind the lines.

Seriously? U want ppl to stop getting kills so u can get the kills. Sure, it might be annoying, but u can just bomb bases is heli pve or just grind helicopters using ground vehicles. I personally gave up heli pve cuz it was way too boring

Question (as I haven’t played Heli PvE in ages): Do we still only have the two BR ranges?

I was fighting for more diverse brackets back in time for a while, but never got through.

Heli PvE could easily be made more appealing to many more players simply by revising those brackets…

Yes, and in the latest Q&A the devs showed that they don’t understand the problems with helicopter PvE mode and don’t even care about it anymore.

List of bugs in Heli PvE mode

And before you suggest reporting bugs in the bug tracker, note that bug report moderators haven’t forwarded Heli PvE bugs for years. Reports about this game mode are either closed for trivial reasons or, if submitted correctly, remain open and untouched by bug moderators for years. This suggests that the devs instructed them not to forward any Heli PvE bugs, since development on it is effectively over and they won’t be fixed anyway.

This also means that even crucial suggestions for the Heli PvE game mode have been completely ignored for years:

These suggestions wouldn’t be hard to implement, but if the development of the game mode is considered finished, it doesn’t even matter how difficult they would be to implement.

As a result, the devs keep adding new content to the game, while the Helicopter PvE game mode becomes increasingly unplayable and broken. Consequently, fewer and fewer players are playing this game mode, as there’s less and less reason to do so.

Yes, it’s a tendency we also see in Sim EC, but maybe less pronounced: Also there development is stagnating, and we basically still have WW2 gameplay with top modern vehicles.

And it’s all because of this vicious cycle, I’m afraid:

to give you an idea of just how little Gaijin cares about PvE modes, Air assault arcade is still BR 6.3 and up, you literally have WW2 props trying to get kills before F-14As and F-16s wipe out the waves.

that’s the case in GRB and ARB too, that’s one of the reasons top tier ground has one team spawn camping the other within 3 mins of the match starting most games.
and lets not even start with the rotting discarded heap that’s naval.

No dont think you are reading it correct obviously, I am saying I stop taking points away from other players because of using these types of atgms. READ the entire message… I don’t want people to stop getting kills, so I can get kills WTF are you? Oh, you are one of them people …LoL go somewhere else with that BS I stop taking away kills from other players… reading is Gud 😉

The irony is, you are actually not earning more but less, if you play this way. You income will be effectively maxed at 95% with 400 score in 10 min. Everything above, you just waste and withhold from others.

When will you lose due to it? When the game ends early, which is what you cause by playing that way.

im going to read that thread now thank you and if people are reading this type ofmessage than there is some type of problems and I play the mode more than enough and there ends up a lot of players in the mode when i wish there were only a handful instead of a full team where the points you end up getting really nothing. I appreciate the information im going to take a look at what was said because I honestly don’t come to the forums often it doesn’t get you anywhere really but hey I got to try.

Yes, but the complete halt in fixing bugs is something that shouldn’t happen in any game, especially one that earns as much money as War Thunder. But unfortunately, we players can’t do anything about it.

For example, one of the biggest and most annoying bugs in the Heli PvE game mode is bases that bug out and stop spawning. It doesn’t happen in every battle, but it’s a very frequent issue.

The thing about this bug is that it’s actually very old - it was reported and fixed back in 2022:

  • A bug has been fixed that prevented respawn of destroyed bases.

Update 2.21.1.42 (9 November 2022)

Unfortunately, in War Thunder, old bugs tend to return, and this one came back in 2023. It was reported again by players:

By that point, however, the development of Heli PvE mode was already considered finished.

I don’t know what happened between 2022 and 2023, but it seems the developers of Heli PvE were either laid off, left Gaijin, or were simply redirected to work on the new game mode (Infantry?). These are all speculations, but from a player’s perspective, it doesn’t really matter what happened.

The problem is that now we just have to live with what we have. The Heli PvE game mode isn’t touched at all, and we can’t expect any improvements. Which is sad, because even if I had access to the source code of this game mode, I could probably fix some of these issues. But of course, the source code isn’t open, so that’s not an option.

This situation only creates frustration. Just yesterday, I played a Heli PvE battle where I had to explain to a new player why the bases bug exists and why it hasn’t been fixed after so many years. This player said the situation doesn’t make any sense. New players can’t even understand it, and I don’t blame them. I feel the same way, it’s simply unacceptable. But what can we do? Gaijin doesn’t seem to care how this approach affects their reputation.

I stop taking kills like i said in further down in the message and thats because it doesn’t get the rest of the players anywhere if one person just takes everything they see. The only time I grab what I can quick is when using a booster a single booster seeing how they only last for 30 minutes and then when that is up I leave the match 95% of the time unless I m playing the lower bracket of 9.3 and lower where you spend hours in a game. I just feel that helicopters with these types of weapons should fall under there own bracket of the mode thats all and that is because I see players in chat during game saying “can I get a kill” or REALLY or somethng along that line and I can understand why they say this type of thing. Like I said I was in the same spot and now what its like to get it done to by other players with the weapons so I grind the equipment and I play 1 or 2 games using that weapon BA11, LUMR, AGM-179 and then I dont enter the mode with those helicopters that I have gotten those weapons on because its not fair to the other players or at least in my eyes I don’t think it is and I take responsibility for being a person that does take away points from others and realize this and stop myself and then I type in chat "you folks get the ground bots im just going to attack AD-2 bombers cause I just am not that guy thats going to take away something someone else needs in the game thats all and I’m raising my voice to say maybe gaijin should take a look at this and change it up a bit, just like any other mode in this game. So they either do or they don’t and I cant go any much more than this forum stuff or just stop playing the mode but I honeslty cant say I do not like the mode I actually do its not where you have to play against other players and its EASY mode for grinding a helicopter.

I feel you, brother! While the issues in my pet game mode Sim EC may not be the same, the tendencies are the same, and often it would be easy and simple fixes to negligible seeming things that would already go a long way in improving the whole game mode.

For us it’s less spawning bases, but slow spawning ground battle events that are often an issue, and we also are plagued with shortcomings in vehicle implementation (e.g. a lot of functionalities missing/wrong that would be crucial in Sim, e.g. CCRP, flight path markers, bugged RWR’s, …) or gameplay discrepancies (extremely powerful and perfectly accurate and precise convoy SPAAG, lack of variety in mission targets, targets not suited at all for modern precision guided weapons, severely lacking AI vehicles and behavior, lack of ships,…)

Most of those things could be solved with very little effort, but would have a great impact on the game mode…

OH i hear you completely and oh I love having to explain to players how the cap actually works and that its actually a mission an Objective where you land on the cap and need to return, kind of like saying you just picked up troops on the cap and they need to be returned home “the Spawn” and not going to lie I have gotten through to a number of players that had no clue what that cap was even for.
I started playing this mode when it was Person vs Person when we had the lovely Ka50 spam and if you didn’t own one then you are pretty much screwed and then all of a sudden its switched over to PvE and omg did it give so much SL per game, and no lie I walk out if a match with over 1 million SL using a booster or booster pack and thousands in Crew points for my tanks when using XP boosters and it was amazing what you got from the mode.
So then they took away the CCIP for the Mi-24D rockets and I stopped playing the lower BR helicopters BR 9.3 and lower and started spading the higher BR helicopters because it was EASY mode and BIG XP with boosters but yup I have been playing this mode everyday since they started the PvE mode and I enjoy it cause it takes you away from teams that you have no control over if you win or lose and im sure you know this just like anyone else that has been playing this game for over a decade.
I have sent in bugs about the mode over the years and have seen them fix the bugs and I have gotten messages back from the bug support page sayin “This isnt a bug” or some bs that maybe they dont want to deal with but not gonna lie there is a section for this mode because I rarely have to wait more than 2 to 3 minutes for a match and it would be nice if gaijin did something about the BR bunch up.

Oh man have I put in a number of bug reports when this mode first started also remember when the bases wouldnt respawn and I also remember when people would just camp on top of the base waiting for it to respawn along with the SPAA bots 😂 it was easy points and you knew where the bases were every time but gaijin did change that and change a number of things

I play DCS if I want sim action but if I want more arcade type sim game play I hope into War Thunder, and it doesn’t look like Gaijin is trying to make a REAL simulator-type game like Digital Combat Sim, and that’s probably where most people that want sim go to or IL2 Sturmovik “the place where I started playing sim” then tried it here and really messed me up because its somewhat sim but its not, if that makes sense and then after goofing around here on WT I went and bought DCS planes and learned what sim actually is and maybe I think gaijin doesn’t want to take that piece of the pie just yet or doesn’t have the ability to step it up to that type of level, maybe idk but I come here to play more realistic arcade type of game and thats what PvE feels like to me as well as AirRB and GroundRB and even Grond Sim and AirSim… it just doesnt give you the FULL feel of Simulator realistic vehicles but it would be nice to need to be pushing the levers and switches to learn how a real plane to be contorlled.

This is exactly what I am trying to tell you. It doesn’t help you if you grab what you can. Expecially with a 30 min booster! You will end up earning less if overkill ends the game in under 30 min. And it often will do exactly that. The booster operates on capped income. 3x 10min with 400 score each will give you way more reward than 2.5x 10 min with 1000 score each.

Please for the love of god, stop playing helicopter PVE. It’s a waste of time.

Play tanks to research helis and then play ground arcade assault to research mods. ~7.5k RP for every 20 minutes played (if you have premium acc and the team wins, position in team doesn’t effect rewards)

Hell, if you are spading higher tier helis like Apaches and the like just take them into GRB. Fly behind enemy spawn and kill the hundreds of SAM systems that spawn nowadays with indirect 30mm fire.

But please just play anything else other than heli PVE

Heli PVE is almost abandoned. Its bugged as hell, low number of targets, too many players in a match and no decompression between heli BR-s. So play only if you have time and your blood pressure are too low, or you have the top helis…

That isn’t really enticing. With Heli PVE in a premium, I earn 4-5000 RP and 50000SL every 10 min. No stress, just easy relaxed farming. And the team always wins.
