Regardless, what about the balancing factor?
The aircraft was already given Skyflash for the balancing factor. Given it only mounted inert missiles, (thus far) has no evidence located of test launches of them and is also not clear if the AN/APG-66H has CWI needed for Skyflash. So they have been provided on a balancing factor.
The gunpod was a case of it not physically being possible to mount on the aircraft according to the devs.
If it doesnt perform well, then naturally its BR can be subject to change.
As a balancing solution, considering the Hawk 200 RDA is able to mount standard NATO ordnance, that it could maybe carry another type of gun pod, such as a 20mm or 12.7mm gun pod mounted on the pylon instead of flush with the fuselage. Being a research aircraft, and having a center pylon, it would not be unreasonable to assume that it could mount any NATO standard gun pods underneath.
As we have already said, we welcome evidence of compatability with any other gunpod on ZH200/ZJ201.
I assume the moving of the aim9L to a rank I module with a relatively lower grind requirement was also to help mitigate the issues of a lack of a cannon too? Was a great change and a good sign of the devs listening to our worries about the plane being painful to grind (or ofc, the devs noticed the issue themselves).
Though, I still hope that the skyflash gets moved to a lower rank module slot, right now its still just sitting there making the plane far harder to grind out then it needs to be as a rank IV module vs spaded gameplay. I think the community would be extremely grateful in this instance for it to be a lower rank, II would be celebrations, III would be a lot of smiles though.
I dont think anyone would be upset at the hawk 200 having a leg up in the grind side given its long… long… list of limitations compared to other systems. (hell try using the CCRP just with 250 bombs stock, as soon as you throw 1 bomb the plane likes to turn hard due to the weight issues lol)
Also I think having an easier skyflash would likely help to differ the BR better, less of the medium skill/lower skill players giving up and leaving the plane only to those who are fanatics/high skill players.
I think stock grinding with the bombs and 2 x 9L will be bearable, there are worse stock grinds.
Having no gun in general though just sucks, especially considering wing mounted gun pods arent an option at the moment.
I think I’ll stick to the Hawk 200 ZH200 with the inbuild guns (which are hopefully updated to ADEN 25s soon)
I would say “name them” lmao. Generally at that BR and the sheer rp sinking required to get to rank IV modules… yeee.
Any Buccaneer stock grind.
Buccs actually generally a faster and arguably better platform to escape with though, even with all the powercreep since additions. You get to carry a really large bomb load of big bombs, 500s and then 1000s relatively quickly. Hawk 200s are 250s and still barely will catch a Bucc I bet…
I would still rather use the Buccs over the basic hawk 200 in either game mode currently. The Hawk with radar… once it gets the skyflash it changes, but still, base planes arguably better grind in the bucc.
Then ofc you have CCRP bomb runs in GRB, the Bucc can throw bombs easily without issue, the hawk 200 as soon as you have uneven weight on the wings will try to flip over and becomes highly unstable.
Actually. Didn’t mind them. You get bombs, so it’s dead easy in SB
It was the Jag Gr1 that sucked for me. Guns only was not fun
Oh I remember that, was grim as anything in GRB. Thankfully gaijin finally implemented the “you get bombs and missiles stock” change. afterwards.
Do they?
GR1A I think did, but the other jags… I think they are still gun only
GR1 and the french jag still get nothing
To try and get a definitive answer on this I made contact with the BAe Heritage team.
They managed to reach out to some personnel who had been involved with the testing and development for ZJ201. It is their belief that a gun was fitted to demonstrate that the Radar wasn’t affected by vibration or blast effects. This was done 1992 - 1994, and the Heritage Team said that they would reach out to the Flight Test department to see if any of the Diaries still existed (this was before items were stored electrically).
Unfortunately, I am unable to share my emails with the details and descriptions with third parties but if the Devs are willing to contact the Heritage team on https://heritage.baesystems.com/contact - I’m sure they will be willing to share any information that is permitted.
I hope this is of help.
Thank you. Thats some positive information none the less.
What a legend
If this works out im gonna be the happiest man alive
So as expected no photos of the pods on either of the jets, is it not possible they just trimmed the pods to account for the bump? I know they filed down the front canopy lip on the Jaguars…
