Yea i just find it fun that our counter against Tigers and other heavy tanks were Strv 42EH Strv m/40s and SAV m/43s or stationary long 75 mm AA guns
People say they were advanced for their time and having alot of firsts in tank design, but in the eyes of the army we only really catched up in the 1950~1960s when we had the Pvkv m/43s and 57mm towable tank guns. And the Strv 75
I agree that the gameplay for WWII vehicles is fine.
We just need updated targets, objectives,. and game modes for later gen aircraft. It’s also very apparent that Gajin is not making any attempt to maintain SimEC for example. There’s a lot of fine tuning that needs to be done, even on the lower BR’s.
Your ignoring the fact I said twice excluding new nations/ trees. Naval bolsters these numbers a lot and considering most don’t play naval ( I do) that makes using their numbers misleading for the most part. So excluding new nations and their mostly copy paste and naval and event or premiums . How many is that? Maybe 20? I’m happy to be wrong on that just guestimating.
So over the last 24-27 months how many vehicles were added to post ww2 game outside the original cut off? At about an average of 30 vehicles per update over 10+ updates that’s about 300 vehicles give or take of which 20 were new ww2 tech tree content for existing nations. Most people don’t have every nations trees researched so that’s about 5 tanks a year maybe the average long term player has had to look forward to or lower tier players.
Here I go mentioning War Thunder needs a new AI system for EC.
I ignored it because it’s a useless moving of goalposts. Arbitrarily excluding things because you feel they “don’t count” is not a valid basis for an argument.
It’s the same reason we get “top-tier Ground RB single-nation mains” (by far the worst offenders for this, with Air RB close behind) complaining every patch that their nation “didn’t get anything”… when what they’re really saying is they personally didn’t get a shiny new toy for their hyper-specific tiny corner of the game.
With only a couple specific exceptions, I exclusively play WWII vehicles, so getting more is very much in my interests. But I also play Air and Naval and Ground, and I play all nations (except the post-war one). My position is essentially the ideal position to be in to judge how much WWII content we’re actually getting; it’s all I play, and I play it all.
yea, agreed they are quite bad
they arent arbitrary at all and the goal post i set in my very first statement although i didnt mention navy though so ill give you that.
Just looked at the updates so for apples to apples comparison if we look at all the vehicles you listed vs ALL the vehicles added in total from start of 2022 thats 507 vehicles. 100 arent premiums or event vehicles and older then 1953. thats 1 out of every 5over a 3 year period. if you remove naval you get that cut down to about a quarter of that, about 25 non naval non premium/event vehicles for existing trees. this includes copy pastes of vehicles already in other trees.
now most of the player base dont play top tier and many who have top tier like myself dont like them so dont tend to play them. so thats approximately 25 new tanks or planes for players which represent the majority of the games active player base over a 2 year period. thats less then 3 new tanks or planes to play every 3 months on average unless you play ships too and this is only for people who play all trees already.
I also have all nations trees unlocked to top tier in every branch except israel air and italian air (tier 5) But i recognise that is not the case for most players who dont play naval and most havent unlocked every tree. i wait 3 months for a new patch to maybe get 3 vehicles to unlock and those 3 vehicles will take a matter of hours to research and then i have to wait 3 more months for 3 more.
Over 150 out of 507 is a perfectly fair amount, I’d say.
No, which represent your personal perspective because it suits your argument.
Again, I would be thrilled if 100% of vehicles added were WWII, because it suits my selfish wants, but that’s not an appropriate way to judge whether it’s a reasonable amount of vehicles being added. Just like yours isn’t.
So… keep playing the ones you have? Do you actually only play vehicles to spade them and then never touch them again?
I play vehicles to play them; spading them is something I want to get out of the way so I can actually play them at full potential. Spading is a speedbump on the way to the goal (playing them), not the goal itself.
If we’re playing the “personal appeal” game, then sure, this patch literally only had two for me: Mutsu and the Bf 109 C-1. And that’s fine, because, well first Mutsu is going to take me ages to get, but also it’s just my own personal interests, which is irrelevant to actually judging the balance of content added to the game.
150 is not accurate to the discussion of my first post.
no its not my personal opinion, its logical fact. every player has to start at tier 1. of the millions who play only a small percentage are going to buy a top tier premium meaning everyone not just playing a top tier premium from day one is grinding from low or mid tier. then many players leave before they get to top tier. additionally we know the player base is growing meaning there are more people joining then leaving. a high level of growth means a high level of players joining the lower tiers again. then those that get to top tier will start a different nation or tree to have more purpose to continue playing. Again this puts the older experiened players again at lower tiers and then finally you have the many top tier older players who just dont like top tier. in short its impossible for there to me a majority of players in top tier. basic logic dictates it.
to answer your question ive been playing for 14+ years and i get bored playing the same ww2 tanks ive had for the last 10 years of that. yes i need motivation to come back and play and new content gives me that. without that its just in most part the same stuff ive done for 10 years. this is why i try to find new players and mentor them because that gives me a purpose because gaijin has forgotten us lower tier players.
they’d better… its been like… 2 years since they announced it (exaggeration, but not by much)
And it better not be garbage boost/increase
Your post is based on false premises, thus I am not entertaining it.
You’ve been playing War Thunder since 2010?
…okay? That’s hardly the game’s problem. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of WWII vehicles in the game at present, and you’re saying you’ve played them all to the point where you’re bored with them? That’s clearly a “you” issue.
If you’ve been doing a hobby for ten years and are now finding yourself bored of it, look into getting a new hobby.
Holy melodrama. Once again, one hundred fifty highly detailed WWII vehicles in two years is hardly being “forgotten about”. You’re not owed a constant stream of shiny toys to stave off your boredom.
its not false, its my opinion on the game, the opinion you commented on so its the goal post of the following conversations stemming from that.
yes i was in early closed beta.
I’m bored because they dont add new content anymore to the game i love. which is the topic of this thread.
no, not 150. your stat is not correct for the conversation.
Most ww2 vehicle that ive seen been added was locked behind events and paywalls for the players that couldnt keep up constant grinding like me who has school and a job
To make it worst many fill gaps that only exist because of a lack of new content, not source material. This means unless you where able to get it in the event and you were even playing then you shit out of luck having competitive lineups. Unless of course your Russian or German, who get the bulk of them, you now get prototypes to keep getting more.
And besides, i like vehicles with unique playstyles. Like AT cars, Casemates and vehicles that doesent fit the average tank steriotype
Sadly true, like the J9 early in the Swedish TT, that is way better than the J20, but that thing isnt even on the marketplace! I almost had the damn thing when i was called into work… then it was gone.
For me great example centurion mk2 and black Prince, best British cas are event or premiums. Etc.
Like the strikemaster, that thing is good. From what ive seen anyway
Heavy payload for a Brit but not versatile. Straightline straight ground attacks and retreat but that’s fine.
