Facepalm.
What?
Yes and No the sole focus of the game now is to produce premium vehicles. No one will pay 70 dollars for a WW2 premium this makes the game heavilly skewed to the modern age.
While we have a wealth of WW2 vehicles each update less and less is being added.
Depending on what it is, I absolutely would.
Ok, you are less likely to captivate players with a WW2 premium than you are with say an F-14
I think one impact modern vehicles have had is shifting what top tier is.
So, vehicles that used to be pinnacle of gameplay and where you had had fun without worrying about the grind became just a stepping stone, meaning people take bombs and ground pound for RP rather than engage in dogfights and oppose longer, drawn out matches because such would slow down the grind.
Like - look at the tech trees listed:
Tier 4/Tier 5 were like peak. Whereas today, Tier 4 in ARB is just ju-288 spam and lawnmowing americans.
Join us in AB, we dont have that :)
I went with Sim. There’s still Ju-288s but also decent dogfights!
Ah, the duality of man. One leaves RB for sim, the other for AB.
(Im honestly curious about sim though tbh, and if there was an AB-flight model w/sim view (AB controls though) I would probably play lmao)
The Sturmtiger Event seemed to be quite captivating to most players imho, even I grinded all the Stars. Unfortunately I had no energy left for the Special PVE Event, that Camo would be nice to have.
…and the reason why people treat these lower tiers just as stepping stones and just want to get past them as quickly as possible is, precisely, because they are interested in modern planes and want to get them as fast as they can!
That should speak volumes in regards to how high the interest on modern vehicles is.
That’s why people who prefer modern jets shouldn’t be forced to grind ww2 props and at the same time why something must be done to get prop air RB to be actually fun again instead of a place full of people that are there to grind/fund tank gameplay
Dude, i usually use this half-jokingly. But you literally wrote “modern era” which is the name of a specific era in history. While you can use modern as a term for recent and new, this does not(!!) appply to the term “modern era” as that is the name of a specific historical time period and that spans from the end of the middle ages and ends with world war 2. So the years 1500 to 1945. Quite a large era.
So the only tanks that are actually from the modern era are the ww2 tanks.
Everything after ww2 is called the contemporary era.
I know everyone knows what you are trying to say, but this image is just wrong on so many levels.
Sturmtiger is a fun event vehicle, one of the few that captivates the player base.
On the ground it is the same with premiuns 10.3.
It makes the game an unpleasant experience. Advancing through those levels the tech trees is not fun.
I imagine it is with every intention to make you spend money. But it’s a shame that levels with interesting things are insufferable.
I would like to enjoy those levels with historically interesting things. The snail doesn’t help and pushes to jump into the top tier.
Other than the Battlepass/events requiring tier 3 vehicles for you to feel you “get the most out of your time”, I dont really see much that would push you for more modern things in the BR range of 3-6.3
If you like tigers for instance, you don’t really need to go much higher than either 6.0 or 6.7. 6.7 may end up pushing you for wanting higher due to pseudo-MBTs and heat-fs and stuff in uptiers I concede tho.
That’s not how it works. You can still have your roots, but if I chopped off all your branches and the entire neck leaving a stump. You are not gonna grow. A lot of people share the sentiment that the roots shriveled up, with many branches falling off or being chopped off.
We are saying the game has become staled bread and that’s not due to us growing up, that’s due to the game lacking anything to motivate us and keep us invested. Oh new vehicle neato, that’s short term. Long-term would involve fixing the maps, adding more ways to play the game, make proper tutorials, something that is being neglected which leaves a mass supply of forever inexperienced players who are unsure of what to do.
Which is where the memes German Mains and Soviet/Russian Mains come from. Germans cannot see anything that is not in their peripheral vision. Russians just charge toward the spawn without much of a question. What you get is inexperienced players as your teammates or players that are skilled but don’t care to often act on it.
When you do properly coach them, on how to play, they do surprisingly well. Despite being part of their chosen nation and all the Stereotypes that come with it. But that involves players willing to do so, and even then they still lack really any idea if they were starting out.
I did mention it briefly before, but they should have slowed down with adding more and more progressively modern vehicles. The current BR brackets are more compressed than ever.
They also needed more consistency on which nations get which vehicles. Some minor nations are all over the place.
I think that war thunder did indeed do the right thing and added modern vehicles. Hence the reason for the br. brackets. The problem I see with this is the addition of heat rounds, modern artillery and light vehicles from the 50s all the way up to the 80s being pared against WW2 vehicles. That is what I don’t like the slightest. It is not historically accurate and messes up the WW2 game play version of the game.
