Have War Thunder Lost its roots? Did modern vehicles ruin this game?

A: This already happens, see PT-76.
B: In many cases it is balanced, again, see PT-76.

Hell, I would take a Tiger II (H) over the Zachlam Tiger any day- just because it has HEAT-FS/ATGMs doesnt mean its OP or even good.

Anyways we basically have this and its called the SPz Marder A1- or the Type 60 ATM, and that second one is downright shit.

Marder is nowhere near as egregious as a HMMVEE would be. Both shouldnt face WW2 tanks.

What the hell else do you want them to face- jesus christ, they arent even good where they are right now.

(Marder A1-)

The Type 60 ATM is fucking horrible even where it is- the only reason it hasnt moved down is because it has ATGMs.

They should be used as a light tank/SPAA not everything has to dominate.
Yep TYPE 60 is bad so it should get to clown on King Tigers?

As an SPAA it is beaten out by basically everything at its BR and above, and its also beaten out by basically every light tank above it. It cant fire on the move with its ATGMs and has poor 20mm penetration- its completely fine at 7.7.

lol
lmao even

It’s completely fine at 7.7…

But it’s not completely fine facing 6.7s.

Compression issue, as always.

Eh, 6.7s facing it can still fairly easily kill the thing, its just that for once their enemy can kill them too. If you get ambushed, sure, but the ATGM cant fire on the move and the 20mm cant really kill heavies- they are in hella better situation then 7.7s facing 8.7, that’s for sure.

(Please kill me I hate the strv 81 fuck that thing)

See, this is what I mean.

Sure, IS-2 can kill Marder as easily as Marder can kill IS-2…

Except Marder is:
-Lighter.
-Smaller.
-Accelerates faster.
-Has higher top speed.
-Faster rate of fire.
-Faster weapon traverse speeds.

So… why should IS-2 lose its ONLY advantage (armor) to a vehicle that is better in each and every single way because it’s 30 years more advanced?

Two vehicles being technically able to kill each other isn’t all- how easily they can get into position, engage, disengage, re-engage at will and defend should also be taken into account.

Ah, this game. Fine, we can play it your way.

Uptiers are always like this.

Strv 81 vs Strv 104- the Strv 104 is faster, better armored, more penetration, has a roof MG and LRF.

Sav m/43 (1944) vs Strv m/42 EH- the EH is faster, better armored, more penetration, has two MGs and has a turret. (And the m/43 is really good, it ain’t like its bad for the BR)

Churchill I vs KV-1B.

The list goes on. Heavy tanks, by the very nature of their protection, are better in a downtier but worse in an uptier then light tanks.

And should never be like this.

Uptiers should be a mild inconvenience, not a scenario that renders all uptiered vehicles virtually obsolete.

It depends on the tank.

Armor in inherently less uptier-proof then any of the other factors, and for most other tanks I find uptiers fine (Hell, I even enjoy them in the Strv 101, nailing a 105mm APDS through the front plate of a T-55M never gets old).

This problem wont ever be solved, unfortunately, and while decompression will help it will never solve it- and even if it were to be solved, it would also mean that heavy tanks could no longer do as well in downtiers.

Uptiers is when your TDs, your LTs are most useful- downtiers are when your heavies are most useful. Its a balance of sorts that works acceptably.

With enough decompression, it definitely would.

A win for everyone. In no ocassion should any vehicle stomp OR be stomped.

What’s better; to stomp 30% of the matches and be stomped 70% of the matches… or to play 100% balanced matches at all times?

Not really, you would have to stretch BRs out quite a ton. Even then, uptiers are still going to be harder on heavy tanks then light tanks.

Let’s decompress just by one single step, for example, and take Maus;

Maus would no longer be stomped by T-55AMD-1s and M60A1 RISE (P)s…
While, at the same time,
Maus would no longer stomp on IS-2s and M26s.

See how big of a difference even just a single step worth of decompression makes?

Oh, I know- I wasn’t saying that decompression isn’t needed lmao. I was just saying that because of how armor works that heavies will always be worse uptier-wise then lights.

You can at least kill the damn thing ,next question please.

The only War Thunder lost on, is premium vehicules.

My point is that most players do not learn the basics of BFM, came in Top Tier due to a premium (throughout the years: F-5C, A-5C, AV-8’s, F-4S, MiG-21’s, JF-17 even)

Basically that is the one thing making the game so bad, as those new people got destroyed, they most likely to become ground pounders that every skilled and experienced pilots jump on for free RP/SL.

The game would become way richer if there was no premium spam.

And as part 2, Maps:
A- Air Maps:
Maps in aircrafts with a single airfield to spawn on are good for every ranks under 6th.

As game progress, you enter Tier 6 and over.
Those maps are not giving best gameplay for those missile ERA jets,…

This problem have created gaijin to create a feature to reduce teams,… but it is no true solution as many describe this feature as a joke.

A solution would be largely prefered if all maps be fitted with 2 spawn airfields per team(1 per map corners) , on which teams would be evenly seperated by the System.

As it would create more seperation, and more tactical possibilities for either teams.

B- Ground maps:
Ground maps always got reduced possibilities, reducing any strategy within the game,… all we do is push forward like sheeps.

It should be changed back, allowing more playing field, changing the objectives form,…

C- Naval Maps: (up to BR 4.7)
Those are horrible and despicable,…
We can shoot from spawn to spawn allowing more spawn killing as torpedoes ranges are joining the fray.

Only some Naval events are somehow enjoyable.

The game’s growth into the modern era hasn’t taken away from its roots but rather enriched its overall experience, offering something for everyone—whether they prefer vintage warfare or the thrill of modern combat.

jagdpanzer 4-5, m41a1, ru-251, m109, spz 12-3
Ww2 era

I counted those as Cold War era, the same way I counted Maus and E-100 as WW2 era.

So… yep; 98 vs 33 vs 21.
