I did mention it briefly before, but they should have slowed down with adding more and more progressively modern vehicles. The current BR brackets are more compressed than ever.
They also needed more consistency on which nations get which vehicles. Some minor nations are all over the place.
I think that war thunder did indeed do the right thing and added modern vehicles. Hence the reason for the br. brackets. The problem I see with this is the addition of heat rounds, modern artillery and light vehicles from the 50s all the way up to the 80s being pared against WW2 vehicles. That is what I don’t like the slightest. It is not historically accurate and messes up the WW2 game play version of the game.
Adding modern vehicles was fine but how they added them was poor and the fact that vehicles from 1945 face vehicles from 1985 is childish and indefensible. It’s just a lazy and weird set up…
I do agree with the comment, ww2 vehicles should fight ww2 vehicles it makes sense its historically accurate and creates fun and immersive game play. It kinda takes you back in history and allows you to simulate the event in a game setting. This is what I think made war thunder so popular and it should continue to eb popular.
I can’t help but think OP doesn’t realise that the WW2 isn’t only still there…it’s being expanded upon. It’s not the main focus but why look back to when there was also less WW2 content in game than there is now?
Having said that. A hard cut for ww2 content to post ww2 would be nice imo.
Exception might be the Me163. But that would’ve been the same case 10 years ago with MiG 15’s and Sabres.
I absolutely agree and maybe you state the case in a more articulate manner than I can.
I imagine quite a few people do in fact try War Thunder ,see baffling the mix of eras and the silly maps and simply walk away dismissing it as a children’s game and thinking about it maybe it is.
Maybe any adult playing this game should know better.
It is also odd that so many on here can’t tell the difference between a realistic game and a simulator. Maybe that is an age thing.I was quite excited upon seeing Gaijin was Russian/Eastern European ,I expected gritty realism and detail as opposed to maybe what I might expect if it was Sony or Bandai/Namco or something.
Hard to know if the future of War Thunder is going to be an era split up or pink tanks and anime pillows. I think that is the issue ,The game trying to appeal to everybody and not recognizing its a niche game…
There must be atleast 1 or 2 anime body pillows somewhere in an ongoing conflict right now.
I put mine in a ww2 open top German tank. Normally I don’t do stuff like that but something tells me there’d be less wars if 1930’s German men were hanging out with anime body pillows rather than going to brauhauses and discuss hatefull ideologies while being hammered.
Well as everybody knows 50s tank legend Michael J Wittmann would not leave home without his famous body pillows ,awarded to him by Hitler himself after destroying four Concept 3s and an M51 with only one shot during the battle for Sun City in 1983.
True but sadly his over confidence was his undoing as he was killed
8 August 1944 by an M109 Howitzer that he foolishly wasn’t expecting to see for another 16 years.
Still, he was a ardent Nazi and a serial spawn camper, so maybe it’s for the best.
I must say I was very dissappointed in the new German Event vehicle. I was really hoping for some interesting WW2 content, instead we got another boring modern Wheelie Boi.
