My man you might think it’s insane, but it’s working. Yes you, and many of us here, are exceptions, whether we like it or not. The 70 dollar packs for 80s 90s 00s tech sell like crazy. There’s a lot of gaming adults with lots of dollars but no sense.

I don’t mind that the game spans beyond WWII, even though that’s the only part of the game I’m currently interested in. Or I can say that at least for air and ground. For naval, it does break immersion a lot and much more and not only that. Some post war vessels are absolutely unbalanced compared to older vessels, especially in coastal. Your slow WWII gunboat gets into battle after a long time, only to be shredded to pieces in half a second by a boat going over 100kph and it has ten times your fire rate.
Modern ground vehicles are not the problem. Problem of this game is the combat mode, and the environement. Most of the maps are unrealistic, some are totaly ridiculous (Harbour, Alaska, US desert, Sun city, etc.) at lower BR’s and worse at higher BR’s. And at every update, old maps are destroyed and shrinked in favour of this stupid tank dogfight combat mode.
It’s why to use my high BR stuff, I play only “private” battles from modders, found on missions chapter in the website.
To play like this insure a more real experience and it’s far away from current battles of the game.
As I said, this comment is for ground battles, as I stopped playing air long time ago. For that I have IL2 Sturmovik, and SF2, those two being also far away from WT Air RB, I used to play.
this game until rank 6 or 7 is probabbly the best game ever created regarding WW1/2 and post WW2…
from Tanks to planes just pure joy, so many good diffrent vehicles, great balance over all 10/10 like nothing is even close.
but then you go to modern vehicle and then you have 1 or 2 nations with 1 or 2 vehicle that are so much better all other vehicles are just waste of time. Maybe Gaijin should try balancing overall modern vehicles to be more usable and trust me that will make it much better. For example F14 is so much better in that BR IMPO any other plane in that BR is waste of time.
But hoping Gaijin will balance anything is almost impossible when they use “how much RP did that vehicle made” as a way of putting planes in same BR…just crazy
my man hasnt heard of the J32B Lansen, J35 Draken, seriously they screwed these planes over. both had a radar/ir gun tracked sight, but gaijin refuses to add them, instead we got tracers that was never used in combat…

Obselete, outdated technology is no longer classified or subject of propaganda to drive export and intimidation. It is often available as part of common good in form of libraries, archives, museums and academic publishing and research

Also simply scope of modelling. Like, the more specific and limited the range is you’re trying to model in terms of physics - the better that physics model will perform. Maybe Gaijin has multiple physics models they can invoke and avoid this issue, maybe not.
Yes, because the WWII ranks are rather saturated already, even for smaller trees, there’s more WWII vehicles than there is modern vehicles. The game moved on and it never claimed to be a WWII tank/air game, but a tank/air game in general.
I know there is plenty of WWII stuff they could add, and they will through time and I don’t know how people enjoying modern vehicles somehow prevent WWII enjoyers playing theirs. Modern warfare is the focus now for the development when it comes to ground/air and fleshing out trees with subtrees, that’s about it.
Again the game never claimed to be “only” a WWII game.
Because they mix like oil and water and because so many came here to enjoy WW2 without having to suffer much more modern vehicles spoiling it.
We now have top tier player complaining about getting damaged or even killed by Bi planes or the M22 " Trolling" so its working both ways.
Just a game all about getting a good score with zero immersion.

How are modern vehicles spoiling WWII stuff, how is a 11.7 Type 10 spoiling your games with the 5.7 Tiger? Get serious please. You seem to be the perfect case of, the game should be only for me and my tastes and I don’t care what others think.
And I don’t know what kind of immersion you are talking about, you weren’t on the WWII battlefields, and I highly doubt anyone playing this game operated any of the WWII tanks, planes or ships, but we have players who actually did man modern vehicles, to them playing in a Bradley or a Leopard 2 might be immersive since they’ve done that in real life.
EDIT: It also seems you joined in 2021, on Xbox that’s way past the threshold of when WarThunder started pushing into the modern era. Even in 2016, when Japanese ground forces were added, we already had vehicles from the '70 & '80s, so the outrage about modern forces is like, laughable at the least.

There is a great lack of a rigid division into epochs. The technique developed later than the mid-fifties, in principle, should not be found in the game with earlier samples!
It is odd on this forum how people will debate for hours whether the M1 had DU or the exact top speed of a M1A4 yet have no issue with a Tiger 2 facing a tank from the early 60s.
In short yes but its much more complicated.
The game was truly balanced back in the WW2 days. Even early additions of the cold war was still balanced we had Centurions facing T-55, M60s and Leopards each tank could kill each other.
The problem isn’t modern per say it’s the kind of player and play style that hyper modern, mobile tanks creates. It’s removing the grind and allowing players to jump in at the top tier (sorry not top tier) The maps in game are designed for mario kart not F1 and that shows. They are too small every game you will get usually premium players rushing for the enemy spawn to camp it.
You simply could not do that in a MAUS or an IS3.
Premiums killed the game when 10.3 premiums that could be sold at 50 bucks that was the end of any interest out with the top tier modern bracket. We now have 70 dollar premiums and will one day no doubt have 100 dollar premiums.
No one is going to buy a premium WW2 for those kind of prices.
Nuke was a mistake, it encourages sweaty camping or kill farming and not playing the objectives.

It’s somewhat comprehensive but it doesn’t change the point. It’s like watching 2000 episodes of a series. You’re just not gonna watch that much and probably will drop it after a bit. Or if you play the sequel to a beloved game but the 2nd game removed so much that you wouldn’t know was in the game till it was gone. To put it simply, it is incredibly distracting.
