Has the spotting system been changed?

I’ve noticed that the spotting system/enemy markers in ARB no longer show up beyond 10km, and they aren’t transferred from teammates vision as well.

Personally, I don’t think they needed to be changed, and I don’t think this change is positive. People don’t communicate enough for something like this to work, and it just doesn’t feel right. The hard cutoff at 10km also feels very forced.

Use your own skills instead of relying on others to be a disposable AWACS…100% game improvement because surprise tactics are valid instead of getting spotted by F-4’s bombing bases with a script long before you encounter another player

On the other hand, it doesn’t really make sense that there would be no communication of an enemies position.

I just don’t get why they changed it.

Edit: it could be a bug since it wasn’t mentioned in the changelog.

Probably to pave the way for stealth fighters/planes. Forcing you yourself to spot planes either with your own radar or eyes rather than to rely on others.

But idk man, don’t modern planes use datalink between eachother anyway? In a gamified sense the older system before the update might have made more sense for toptier at least, but we’ll see. Perhaps it’s just a bug, not the first time the spotting system broke.

Correct, but this could potentially be Gaijin’s way of preparing for differentiating planes that do and don’t have datalink if/when it is added in the future.

I feel your point is correct…
Again, this expands the possibilities of the game.
In Sim it doesn’t matter at all, in RB it’s quite important because it was not recommended to use the radar, so the players turned it off.

So players will have to learn more to understand radars…

Great logic until you encounter some absolutely horrendous radars (cough cough myech).

I really, really hope this is true. One of my gripes with AirRB is knowing if I get near an enemy I am automatically spotted by the entirety of the entire team, even if he is destroyed but is still sitting on the plane.

Whenever I am killed I often abuse this system to help my team, I keep falling and rotating my camera to spot enemies and act as a falling AWACS. Also because time spent = rewards anyway

Sadly it is.

I hope it is a bug, since it doesn’t really have any benefits in my opinion.

It’s your preference… I would be fine if it was only for datalink-able modern fighters. But I don’t enjoy the third-party spotting system.

I would not mind a system like ground RB where you can “spot” specific targets, maybe an automatic radio message giving its position on the map and the visual spotted name appeared as usual but for just a few seconds, for example.

I also HATE the blind hunt mechanics. Takes away the skill of the game.

If the change is intended, then that would be a good addition, maybe it could show up when someone does “cover me” or something similar. The only downside is that it requires teamwork.

Running away isn’t exactly a skill.

Having an in-game built “wallhack” is worse. It would be more acceptable if both parties were spotted, as it would address the “lets hunt that dude that keeps hiding all game”, but at least everyone would be spotted. Its so lame when you are alone fighting multiple guys that are afraid of a fair fight and use a blind hunt to have the jump on you.

I’m going offtopic so I’ll stop here.

Not a fan of it simply because spending too much time in top tier GRB is bad for my eyesight, and now both game modes are like playing Pixel Hunter.

IRL jets have radios and datalink. In-game you can’t even send 2 messages within 10 seconds of each other. I play on a laptop so I’m also getting monitor mogged by ultrawides now.

It could work with a few adjustments but it’s such typical Gaijin to throw it in with no announcement, no testing, and no additional gameplay systems. Or it’s just a another “”“bug”“” due to “”“spaghetti code”“”, teehee.

Play Simulator then. It was fine

If I wanted to understand radar I would play sim. Hopefully this is just a bug or im going back to solely ground again.

It doesn’t matter in ground battles, but the fact is that the past spotting revealed too much…
Yesterday we played BR 8.7. It was full of F-117s.
And it was necessary to play differently, it was not a clear overview of the entire map where the players are. So it was necessary to observe the surroundings much more, to choose a route and destinations on the map.
The only difficulty we saw was that due to the range of br, machines at the upper limit of the battle rating with more powerful radars were at an advantage.

If someone wants to play a relaxing game where everything is in the palm of their hand, they have an arcade here. In other modes it is more difficult…

I think its bugged

We’ll see…
But it brings quite a big advantage of “invisibility” for stealth F-117 and maybe other stealth in the future…

A week ago there was an opportunity to see the Su-57 in China, it doesn’t matter what it is, what is written about it…
But there is already enough information to install it in the game.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence and maybe Gaijin timed it that way on purpose…
Well, at the same time, with this limitation of spotting, devs can avoid installing large maps.

Yeah the stupid tags in RB are why I don’t play it. It’s just AB with out rip/reload/UFO. What is the point?

Spot planes with your eyes ffs.

Just play sim then, why waste time on RB?
