Enlisted’s literal only advantage as a game was its immersion/historical theatres lol, goodbye enlisted!
You want an entirely different game than what WT is
You aren’t even playing sim. What do you know?
I have played a bit of sim, and removing repairs is terrible game design. It would not be fun or enjoyable. It would lead to you getting damaged, and then being unable to do anything, just waiting for someone to come and kill you.
A better improvement to sim would be abandoning the cap feature, and making missions with proper objectives, somewhat similar to air SB.
That wouldn’t improve the gameplay to a more sim focussed gameplay. That would just change mission design.
Being able to repair while being shot at is just ridiculous.
Well you see
I am:
Not an idiot and realize that repairs are necessary for people to not quit the game instantly because they are ynow- stuck in place unable to do anything
Mission design is tied closely with realism and simulating realistic scenarios. It is not realistic to be fighting over a white circle on the ground.
But this is a video game. It is meant to be fun, and not being able to repair wouldn’t be fun. There needs to be a balance between enjoyable gameplay, and realistic features.
You can have sim focused gameplay, while still having unrealistic features. Removing repairs would do nothing but harm the quality of gameplay, and it would push many players away from sim, effectively killing it.
If you want a feature similar, ask for damaged optics to be unusable unless repaired, or ask for communication to go down when the radio is destroyed.
The other alternative of course is to say, okay, in sim a mission kill counts as a kill. A bit like the severe damage mechanic in air. If your tank is damaged in such a way that you can’t participate in combat, you despawn unless there’s an ally nearby to come repair you.
I think in Ultrasim you’re only allowed to repair minor damage and tracks, and the platoon commander is the only one allowed to repair your more extensive damage, but it’s been a while and I’d have to check.
This would at least remove the issue of waiting around for someone to put you out of your misery.
However, the balance implications for several tanks might be very significant.
It should cater to sim enthusiasts not the adhd pew pew shooter players.
An immobilized tank is a dead tank irl it should be in sim as well.
Of course it is. I can paint a white circle and have tanks fight over it. It’s not authentic to real battles bit it isn’t unrealistic as it is physically possible.
Realism =|= authenticity.
Operation flashpoint was a game as well. You couldn’t repair a tank in the field there either. It was still fun.
Players are just used to the convinience and for AB and RB that is fine.
You both have combined a wopping 4 hours in SB. Why do you even care so much? RB/AB can stay as is.
SB really should stop being a shooter.
Yeah that should exist as well.
Also fuel running out of the tank if the fuel tank is hit.
The current ground sb players are shooter players anyway. They would leave if proper controls or any other significant sim feature gets added. The sim enthusiasts have left Ground SB long ago. The point is getting rid of the shooter players and win back sim players.
The shooter players will be happy playing AB or RB.
As of now GSB is just a refuge for RB players to hide from CAS.
Then sim will never be played.
Flat out, you wont get enough to queue and the mode will become a dead mode. The mode has to maintain a modicum of accessibility in order to actually be played, otherwise it well… simply wont be.
sigh
Why… just why…
Because your idea would kill sim as a gamemode. I would play it more if queue times were more reasonable, and if I was able to play any Br at any time.
Casual players vastly outnumber the people who want to play a hardcore sim. I am all for improvements to the gameplay, and features of sim, but nothing should detract from the gameplay in such a massive way.
This wouldn’t be too bad. You won’t be driving more than 200km+ per match unless your fuel tank is destroyed.
No it doesn’t. WT Air SB, doesn’t give a crap about accessibility either and it still works just fine. GHPC, Steelbeast, Tank Crew… all of them don’t have repairs. but People play them anyway. Sims are always niche products, but the number of interested people is sufficient to warrant the development of an entire game (GHPC for example) so it’s enough for a WT gamemode.
because Sim. If you aren’t a fan of simulators that’s fne, but why argue in the sim forums that a simulation doesn’t cater to you? it isn’t supposed to.
But if you aren’t interested in sim aspects… why is it relevant if you would play it? It makes more sense to make it attractive to people interested in that sort of thing.
Sure, so what? By that logic flight sims should be a dead genre, since there is no appeal to casuals.
They still exist though.
Why would anyone expect a sim mode to be attractive to casuals? why would you even expect that? That’s why we have AB and RB.
For sake of having an argument.
I love when people who doesn’t play something are the ones talking the most
Because I think removing repairs would negatively impact the quality of gameplay. It would not be enjoyable, and would push people away from sim. I will leave it at that.
I just think their idea is bad.
I think the idea od ‚X’ in AB is bad but I don’t play it so I’m not pushing for the change of it.
Again, what people are pushed away? People that are interested in a tank sim or the ones that just want to shoot tanks by clicking at them?
Again, you are not the targeted audience fo a simulation. Why would you be the yardstick to measure sim on? it makes no sense.
But that shouldn’t matter should it? let’s say you really hate Basketball. Why should your opinion on rule changes matter? it should not, it should be for the ones that enjoy the sport to decide.
You would think that it is rather obvious why the opinion of someone with no interest in the sim aspects should not matter here.
It’s about making it immersive and not how to make it a better shooter game. And being screwed when your engine is shot up is immersive.
It’s a bit like saying: “i would play Air im if it had mouse aim and third person view”, that’s no longer a flight sim. That’s just RB without most of the markers and EC. You would kill the flight sim community as there is little overlap between the air action game of AB/RB and the flight sim that is SB.
Tanks have already been diluted to the point that they are an action pew pew game. This needs to be corrected. But it won’t be by listening to the wron audience.
There is nothing sim about sim ,its just grb with a different view and team kill.WT need to strip the game and go back to one tank per nation modelled correctly or even just two nations. No copy paste
True, the point i am trying to make is how much potential there ist, to make GSB so much more than it is at the moment.
It needs a total rework or scrapping to make room for TO mode
As someone who does have ADHD, and likes SB and RB for different reasons (and I’ve also looked into the ultrasim community because I’d like to try out one of their events sometimes), I don’t find that joke especially amusing.
Intuitively, that makes sense. Looking at it from a business perspective however, Gaijin would need to have compelling or at least very convincing evidence that 1) this would indeed happen and 2) that they would be worth it.
It’s also possible they’ve concluded that that niche is already covered very well by GHPC and IL-2 Tank Crew, and therefore that it’s not worth it to try and compete but rather stick to the current mix.
I find it hard to predict or discern what their thinking is on the matter, because sim has seen very little movement since I started playing the game in February 2022.
