Also, they are only R-27s. R-27s arent actually all that strong and a reasonable pairing for Aim-7M.
R-27Es are the stupidly OP missile that you cannot see on a 11.3 as they are all at 12.7+ and quite frankly. Shouldnt be at 12.7

Whats the RWR like on teh F-14B? Never seen it in use so dont know, but the VIggen Dis is also very weak for the BR
Its solid, it will tell you whats pinging you and the exact direction of it. Id say its about on par with my F16C but maybe it cant detect K band but not like it matters for this comparison.
So that instantly places the F-14B above the Viggen DI then
Yeah but US main Cope, its like the people that cry saying the F14 IRIAF cant perform at 13.0 yet i spaded it with a positive KD perfectly fine.
But tbf the IRIAF is one of the better BVR fighters here lol.
yeah not a great comparison because there is no one thing which the f14b does well and it isnt a good enough all rounder to make up for it

viggen at least gets one of the best missile loads for the BR of 4 aim 120 and sidewinders
where the most effective missile the f14b gets is aim 7m not even the 7p with data link
Your point doesn’t mean much when there is a 13.0 with only AIM 7-E2 so the F14 having a better missile doesn’t mean much. Besides its strength is the ability to fire Fox 3’s and land and refill safely just like the IRIAF.
except the aim 54 is much worse than the fakor, you will never get a kill with an aim 54 in a lobby where people are used to avoiding better ARHs
I have played the F14A in a 13.7 uptier and have gotten a few kills, 2 Aim 54A and a 9H kill. Guess that doesn’t mean anything though.
Maybe you could try changing how you play the Tomcat, it may help you get some good kills. Idk how you play so i can’t say if you’re doing something bad but we may also play very differently which also means my method wouldn’t help you get kills.
I tend to avoid BVR larping because that is the most boring possible type of gameplay, but still the aim 54 has only been somewhat reliable for long range shots right when it was added and right after they reduced multipath height
and at the same time the f14b with a load of aim 54s doesnt climb or accelerate very well limiting its long range performance without compensating close range capability
your highest probability kill missile is the aim 7m which is very weak for the br and you dont have decent IR missiles to compensate with only getting aim 9l
so you have poor to average flight performance and very poor missiles at a br where flight performance is trumped by missiles

Whats your preset look like? I myself run 4x Aim 54 with 2x 7M and 2x 9G. I do have a non Fox 3 loadout for when i want to try some other stuff but i often don’t need to use more than the 2x 7M and 2x 9G. Sometimes ill climb and launch off the Aim 54 at about 40km on people that are flying straight into the battle or at people sky climbing but usually they are planning on firing their fox 3 and turning away.
Once the Aim 54 are gone then im free to pull back and fly in on the sides and try to scrape some people off my team. Sometimes i get a Aim 54 kill and sometimes i don’t, Gaijin gave me a missile with a potential to get a kill by tracking stuff on its own so im gonna use it. Its definitely not a dogfighter (well unless you can use Sim controls to screw with bad ARB pilots lol.) Its definitely not terrible though, i thi k its more of a support vehicle in ARB rsther than a dedicated fighter given the ace combat esq matches gaijin wants us to play unfortunately. Hell ive even just decided to charge the enemy team without my missiles and just go for gun kills. Terrible idea but you’d be suprised how many people aren’t ready for you to run straight at them.
You could be filth of the earth and set fuel to 10 minutes get your speed to 800kph, only carry 4x Aim 54C and once you get to 800kph pull 60° and hit 10000m and launch at anyone within 40km then land at the second airfield lol. That is some rat gameplay but it definitely works
I run similar loadout but sometimes go with 2 aim 54 and 4 7m because of how bad the aim 54 are
but again I would rather be playing one of the f18s that are a lower br or the pre amraam f16adf just because they have better flight models and similar offensive capability despite being lower br and are much smaller targets so you might actually survive going for headons
never gonna do that, way too boring of a play style
I give you props for avoiding the rat life. But now i will say this because people often forget this, but thats the thing if im not feeling the F14, then i have other 13.0 options on the US, i could play the F15A or the AV-8B. Again not every nation has multiple 13.0 vehicles that offer differing gameplay styles, me personally i will probably never touch the JA37Di as its radar is just mid alongside a abysmal RWR which may be the worst one for its BR which means you’re blind to whatever could be looking at you. Poor speed and mobility with limited missiles makes the Viggen not worth using which is why id take the Tomcat, because while its not the best 13.0.its in a better position for me to play than that of the Viggen.
