I understand that and do play the other US 13.0s its just the f14b is so much worse than either of them
the RWR is a problem but the radar isnt really, from what ive seen its not too bad but iirc it doesnt get TWS, which is fine unless you are trying to BVR larp which you absolutely shouldnt with that RWR, at the same time it gets 4 ammrams on a not terrible supersonic flight model at 13.0 specificialy a flight model that can pull plenty of AOA to let you use those amraams at medium to close range where your RWR is less of a problem
About that AOA, here are the Viggens vs a F4J phantom, so unless a Viggen wants to drop to about 200kph you aren’t out turning a Phantom…
This is with similar loads equipped weight wise. Yes at low speed the Viggen have nose authority but if you’re getting that slow you’re food. People still assume this is pre Viggen FM nerf for some reason without checking but considering theres 3 swedish air players its not too surprising.
Tornado is better than the Viggen though? Better speed, better radar, better RWR, IRCCM missiles. Aside from them both playing the BnZ role the Tornado is just a better jet.
Yes because the Viggens doing 1 turn from 900kph and dropping to 600 will work so well. Again dogfighting in Sim it can work but for ARB, you’re asking to have 4 people target you because you got slow and if you try to get back up to speed your going to be waiting a while to get up to a speed that will be useful for running away or dodging missiles.
Again in ARB its basically irrelevant. If you’re trying to dogfight your not playing them right. Now for dodging missiles your forgetting a basic fundamental of BVR, whoever sees the other first can force the opponent to defend, the Viggen lacks a RWR that would identify whats pinging you while also having a worse time seeing at distance like the Tornado. So while it can turn to notch before a Tornado its also a lot closer to its opponent which puts it in a bad spot as the Viggen is slow and will recover more slowly than a Tornado.
Not to mention the viggen can only ping in 4 directioms meaning you cant effectively notch unless you see the missile so again its just not going to work for BVR. Its best chance to get kills is to use RB99 like a worse Skyflash (in terms of pull, far better range though) so 7km engagements.
you are missing the fact that I am not talking BVR, I am talking low altitude close range where your amraams have a very high probability to kill, there is no dogfighting or anything just using decent positioning to get good launches and you will do well
I learned the mistake of trying to BVR a F.3 lol, Viggen radar ping him off somewhere to my right within 45° radar couldn’t find him so i attempted to notch but since i cant see exact angle i cant notch effectively. If it had a better RWR it’d be actually tolerable lol.
Which is why i mentioned 7km fights like i would with skyflash, though that depends on if the Viggens radar decides it doesn’t want to lock the chaff behind the target running towards me because the radar is hit or miss at times.
Still hoping the Viggens can get their BOY CM pods, given how trash BOL is for Chaff id kill for something else. Besides not like im losing anything by carrying a massive CM pod, not like im gonna turn that much slower than what the Sky van already does.
