I’d much rather see the Japanese Type 03 though.
Wait an M163 for japan with an actual good track system?
Gaijin would never…
Straight to 9.0
9.0? Looks like the first 13.0 Ground vehicle to me
What is interesting is that TIFCS is 2nd get thermal while TTS only 1st
Is it possible if we get M48A5PI at 9.0 (does this have thermals?) and M60A3TTS at 9.7 and M60A3TIFCS at 10.0? because I really want to play all Thai Pattons.
the M48A5PI, unless there’s been a Thai modernisation, is unstablised and would probably be 8.0/8.3 like the unstabed M60s or the German upgunned M48.
the M60A3 TTS would be 9.0 like the other TTS in game.
the M60A3 TIFCS would be at best 9.3.
As for what’s coming? Probably only the M60A3 TTS at this time going by the CM news post:
“So what’s coming for Japan? We’re bringing in the Commando Stingray (also for the USA), M60A3 TTS, M163 and… we are plotting one more tank too. You’ll have to keep an eye out for this one!”
(from here: Community Update No.7: Talking About What’s Coming Soon!)
Which to be completely honest is pretty disappointing.
It should be expected for sub-trees. Copy-paste is preferred over anything else, which has been especially egregious in cases like the “Hungarian” sub-tree that doesn’t include a single Hungarian aircraft like the Héja or the Sólyom. Thailand easily has another vehicles that they could be Japan’s fifth line, extending from 1.0-2.0 with their Type 76 AA and Type 92 car, to what we’re probably going to get in the upcoming updates. Though, copy-paste is going to be unavoidable with Thailand. Most of their vehicles are foreign, even including native modifications, with the TIFCS standing as an exception among the RISE (P) and TTS. The only place they have a bunch of native designs over foreign designs of the obscene amount of MLRS they have, and the numerous modifications they’ve made of sticking 20-mm auto and rotary cannons onto random trucks and their combination of Starstreak HVM and Igla-S onto light truck chassis.
Well, Ukrainian not Russian. The ERA was made in the late 90s and adopted in 2003. It’s also very unique in how it works.
I hope it is the M48A5PI upgrade with STAB and laser and I think it is perfect to fit 9.0 line up with others.
I was referring to me mixing up Kontact-5 and Relict in my original post. Sorry if that was unclear! It appears that the forum hid the edit?
(I typed out “Kontact-5 like” instead of “Relict like”, I was trying to describe the Oplot in Warthunder terms/in relation to what we already have in game. Probably should have worded it better, my apologies).
The m163 isn’t a bad system, the problem is it just barely works at its BR… Then in an uptier it’s massively outclassed, if you can learn to lead without the radar it’s not awful, you just need to tuck into cover and ambush aircraft on an incoming dive, an improved radar will definitely help players struggling with cas.
They are a bit artificially limited in logical progression. With a five line and 3 vehicles per line each rank limit that makes it very hard to just add everything in a way that makes sense.
Sure there’s folders, but there’s only so much foldering you can do that still makes sense. Even with one full Thai line it’s already going to be a mess of light tanks, MBTs, self propelled guns all in one with SPAA squeezed between Japanese options.
It’s not so much that things can’t fit, just that it becomes increasingly difficult to have progression make sense especially one you hit that 5 × 3 per rank limit and have to resort to folders.
<3 My lil guy, Gaijin plz
I made a comment in the BR changes thread advocating to reduce the reload time of Chi-Nu & Chi-To’s guns. There is some historical support for this, and it seems unnecessary that their reloads are longer than their most direct counterparts.
Found a higher quality image, so anyone who’s more familiar with the markings can confirm.
It does look like 3BM15 (the sabot and tip). But saying that it wouldn’t surprise me, for a long time it was dirt cheap, so for exercises/training, makes sense to use 3BM15 over other ammunition, if costs are a concern. Also might just be them using up old stocks ig?
I like the way how thermal sight is slapped onto the mantlet beside the main gun, reminds me of the Type 74G (and Strv 105).
Also some Ukrainian ladies ❤️
A side effect of the original NVDs developed for the FV101 being too big to fit in the turret, and the dimensional requirements meant the only space was on the front of the turret. Though personally the Thai Thermal sight looks so much better than the British one (picture below), the wire grill makes it look pretty cool imo.
