It hasn’t been stated, but every single rank 6 premium until now has been that way.
Maryland, as she appeared in 1945
Nelson, as she appeared in 1945
Gneisenau, as she would have appeared in 1944 if her turret transplant had been successful
Sevastapol, as she would have appeared in 1941(?) if she had been finished
Mackensen is an event vehicle, not a premium, so she is not counted
And for the leaked ships;
Jean Bart will appear as she did in either 1945 or 1950
Vittorio Veneto will (likely) appear as she did when she was launched
All of those premium ships are in their wartime, or post-war appearances. The only reasonable conclusion is to have expected Nagato, Musashi, Shinano, or No.111. And since they also seem to be avoiding end-of-line ships unless necessary (France, Italy), Nagato is unfortunately our pick.
That and she matches with Maryland and Nelson as the first 16" gun ships for those three nations.
Sevastopol is vey rare example as there are no candidate for Soviet Rank VI. Even then she has to come with 14.96’’ version because there are no case of two unfinished ship with same armament.
Premium ships prioritize existing ships. Same thing happens to France in Clemenceau and Jean Bart.
Also, depending on Gaijin’s logic of ‘similar appearance same tree’ happens to Mutsu and Amagi, Tosa better fits better on Fuso tree. And if Tosa comes, no other ships of Tosa class would be in game near future.
You made up some stupid rule saying it was want Gaijin wants. I asked where Gaijin said that. You said they didn’t ever say that. Congrats you have been proven wrong.
You also had to make it some extremely convoluted and specific condition as well because if you went any more broad like " in operational fit in WW2" then you would be proven wrong by Sevastopol and Genis. The reason they are currently all WW2 era ships is because a certain level of firepower is required to be competitive at Rank VI that most WW1 and Interwar ships don’t have, not because of some stupid rule that you made up in your mind and put in the mouth of Gaijin.
Okay so why would Japan be the only nation to receive a ship from 1921 while every other nation receives a ship from 1940 or later?
How come everything I’ve said has been correct despite no official statement by Gaijin?
And WHY are you so heated about this?
I mean it could work either way, simply because of the 410 guns.
But overall the later version of Nagato class wouldn’t make that big of a different considering the introduction of the newer battleship. It could be 1921 or it could be after 1940.
You aren’t correct about anything. The actual trend is that Gaijin is just doing sister ships of existing rank VI/VII ships for the premiums because it’s less work on their end than creating new models.
Maryland is sister to Colorado
Nelson is sister to Rodney
Gneis is sister to Scharn
Jean Bart is sister to Richelieu
Vit Ven is sister to Roma
Nagato is sister to Mutsu
That’s the simple answer and not some hyper-specific ban on adding interwar battleship designs that were converted to carriers before the start of WW2 as Rank VI premiums.
Someone disagreeing with you and calling you out on lying isn’t getting “heated”. You are just deflecting.
We’ve already had premiums that were the same/better as thet then end of the line TT ships with USS Helena and such.
Besides it’s likely going to happen either way, you really think they would miss out on making a premium Iowa?
I reckon a premium Musashi would sell better too, well, until potential buyers find out what the experience is like.
Its not about the Nagato class. It’s about the other options for a rank 6 premium.
1936 or later Nagato v. 1921 Tosa/Amagi class. Sure there’s no reason to not make one of them the pack instead, but if everyone else is getting ships from 1940 or later… that doesn’t really look good.
Especially since the new premium Jean Bart is probably going to be the best BB in the French tree. Only makes sense that they’d sell wartime Nagato (or possibly a Yamato) as the pack instead of one of the older, worse (worse than rebuild Nagato that is) battleships or battlecruisers.
Premium shoulda been Mutsu circa 1943, but w/e.
Really I’m just happy to finally get my girl, despite the outrageous price tag.
No. I’m fully expecting to see an event 1960s New Jersey, premium 1945 Missouri, and a TT 1980s Wisconsin.
Think that might be a contributing factor into Musashi not being a premium lmao
Gaijin caring about player experience and satisfaction? Can’t possibly be the case
Just like how the clothing brand selling stuff with their name on it along with outrageous price tag. Premium in warthunder work the same.
Why would they put Mutsu in the tech tree and put Nagato as a premium pack ? Why would they pick Nelson as premium pack and not Rodney ? Sure most of the premium are essentially a copy of it tech tree counter part with some visual change.
Let be honest here , why would they pick Tosa ? Or any of the canceled project that the jap had during the interwar year ? Im sorry but Gaijin clearly doing this for maximum profit, it doesn’t matter if it is unique or not. Nagato is clearly the best option for Gaijin to make money , she actually served , unlike her sister and her 3rd turret situation and other canceled project are , well , canceled. They don’t have any mark on WW2 beside being a footnote in the interwar year for the IJN.
Your logic is completely strange. Considering how Gaijin currently distributes premium ships, it’s logical that Nagato will be a premium ship, not Tosa.
As has been said before, other nations are already receiving ships from the 1940s and beyond, even if they’re still in their design stages.
Why should Japan be exempt from the rule and be given Tosa instead of a modernized Nagato?
This question hasn’t been properly answered with a “why” answer.
Because with a premium Nagato it means we won’t have a Japanese 16" armed battleship with any kind of semidecent AA freely available.
Yes, it follows the obvious trend of adding an AA refit of an existing ship. But it is the only Battleship of that callibre with AA left. So it’s a bit of a shame that the researchable tech tree will not see any AA heavy battleships anymore.
Edit: just remembered that Japan already had a precedent with a non AA premium, Yamashiro!
Granted the context of its introduction was different as at the time the premium battleships had to be 6.7. with Fuso being 7.0 a “worse” version of its class was all they could do to keep up the appearance that they “don’t sell top tier premiums”
On top of what Rowan said, Nagato might also be the best Japanese battleship overall, as she wouldn’t be very prone to explosions like Yamato.
Musashi would’ve been a good pick if they wanted to add a famous ship with AA.
Like, we’re already at the end of the line for battleships. It’s not like there’s any stronger battleships they can add, and it’s pretty likely we’ll get a premium Iowa some day, so might as well get it over with while we’re at it.
But now they’re locking Nagato behind a big paywall, and because of their policy of 1 ship = 1 configuration, we won’t have a TT counterpart for the foreseeable future.
GAIJIN’s traditional practice was to place ships with better AA firepower behind paywalls without offering free copy, and this has been the case since Fletcher and Cowell. I don’t like this. It’s a very serious P2W.
