General Japanese & JASDF General Discussion

Whats with the type 24s accuracy? Has it gotten the bmpt treatment or has it always been this bad. Also, nice being ammo racked while hulldown using the crewless turret, glad to see its consistent with the btr3.

Yup, all Bushmasters have the same basic dispersion of 0.08 degrees, this goes for the GI30 and the Mk.30-2 aswell.

(BMPT and the BTR-3 etc, have 0.2)
(Weirdly the most accurate 30mm is the Rarden with 0.05)

I have no source for this, I swear I remember something about dispersion being cumulative and it’s better to tap fire/fire in bursts/ But I can’t remember where I got that from.

Can confirm that does not work lol, not unless speed also effects it. Had my first round veer left on my first shot.

Thought i would put this here incase any of you know anything.

It’s wrong and it was corrected based on a CAD drawing released by the Japanese MoD

Ty

Hello is there any information on the 48 ton version of the Type 10 or any similar version that was ever built ?

Nope

But there is a new type 10 upgrade in development which will add 30mm RWS and most likely (very highly likely) Iron fist APS this will increase its weight closer to that.

But the specific version your asking for at least I’ve never heard or see the 48 ton version shown in public is r what it consists off

thank you

Gaijin needs to add the Type 90 prototype with the 135mm gun

The Type 10 with the mitsubichi aps

The Type 10 with iron fist and 30mm rws

And the new Type 10 with the extra roadwheel

These would be really meaty at top tier. Extra roadwheel is a bridge to far
Here is the upgrade package if no one posted about it.

Research on the Active Protection System (APS)

Main Description

In international peacekeeping and cooperation activities, rockets and similar weapons pose a serious threat. We are conducting research on equipment that protects armored vehicles and personnel from such threats. By using radar and optical sensors to detect incoming rockets and other projectiles at long range, and intercepting them with countermeasures that minimize collateral damage, the safety of armored vehicles and personnel can be ensured.

Bottom Text

Technology that protects the safety of personnel is one of the most important technologies for the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF). To ensure their protection, it is necessary to develop technologies that are equal to or superior to those of other nations.

The purpose of this research is to neutralize the threat posed by enemy warheads while also reducing the damage caused by our own interceptor projectiles. We aim to minimize this damage by making full use of Japan’s advanced materials and precision manufacturing technologies.

As a prototype, we are researching and developing the essential components of the system, including:

  • Sensors capable of detecting incoming rockets and verifying their trajectories,
  • Interceptor projectiles to evaluate the effectiveness of reducing collateral damage,
  • Launchers capable of rapidly firing interceptors toward the target.

Vehicle Compatibility System Design

A.1 Scope

This appendix, based on Section 2.2 of the main specification, defines the requirements for the system design that the contractor shall perform in accordance with this specification.

A.2 Scope of Work

The work shall be based on Table A.1, with the following details.

a) Study the installation requirements for the APS, the RWS, and the radar for the RWS, as well as the interface requirements with the vehicle systems.

b) Study the modifications required to accommodate the APS, RWS, and RWS radar, including measures to compensate for additional weight and increased electrical power demand.

At the same time, examine configurations that allow:

  • installation of both the APS and RWS/RWS radar simultaneously,
  • installation of only one of the two systems,
  • or installation of neither system.

c) Participate in the live-fire verification tests identified as GRD-Z000981.

Participation shall consist of two personnel.

Except for support relating to testing within the test range and entry into government facilities, the contractor shall arrange the transportation, lodging, and meals necessary for participation.

Further details shall be coordinated with the Development Division.

d) Give the highest priority to ensuring the safety of personnel operating the equipment on the vehicle.

e) If additional items requiring consideration arise during the work, they shall be adjusted through consultation with the Development Division.

f) Submit the results of the studies listed in Items 1–3 of Table A.1 as the System Design Report.

The System Design Report shall serve as the final report, and its detailed contents shall conform to Table B.1.

A.3 Equipment Subject to System Design

The equipment covered by the system design is as follows.

a) APS

The APS identified as GRD-Z000981.

b) RWS

The 30 mm Remote Weapon Station identified as GRD-Z000865, or an equivalent product.

c) RWS Radar

The radar identified as GRD-Z000909, or an equivalent product.

d) Vehicle

The vehicle on which the APS, RWS, and RWS radar are to be installed:

Table A.1 — Study Items and Contents

Item 1

Study Item

Installation requirements for the target vehicle.

Contents

Study the optimum installation requirements for the APS, RWS, and RWS radar on the target vehicle, and evaluate their effects on vehicle functions and performance.

Item 2

Study Item

Compatibility study with the target vehicle.

Contents

Based on technical drawings and technical documentation, study:

  • the compatibility required for installation and operation of the APS, RWS, and RWS radar,
  • the interface requirements with the vehicle systems,
  • the necessary countermeasures,
  • and the fundamental design considerations for the integration.

I have never seen the type 10 with the APS or 30mm so I think this was a project but who knows I don’t have all the information I got this off of reddit a while ago.

Pictures with APS tests with that pictures with 3D model is NOT related to the documents you posted

That pictures are about closed APS project from 2010s while this documents is about new APS project for Type 10 started 2024

interesting

Well that’s all I have on my hard drive concerning anything related to Japanese APS projects

Yeah there are two of them the pics (first ones) you showed was an earlier development of Japan trying to make their own APS.

But as of now there is a newer development where they will instead use a foreign design and a 30mm rws

If we get proof of the 30mm and if it gets of hard hitting rounds / maybe a time fuse for quadcopter drones that type 10 is going to be beloved by players. 30mm ap for light tanks time fuse for infantry mode.

APS is sort of a mature technology now cold war APS was kind of raw for what you where getting. Makes sense for Japan to get there hands on some though Quadcopter drones don’t seem to be effected by APS at this time so the value may be mixed.

What do you mean with “if we get proof”?
We have documents (which was posted by you also) that they plan to install 30mm on Type 10 - so it is needed to wait until they do it
From same documents we know they will use HEAT round (same as Ah-64 gun) and Proxy fuse ammo

It is the reason they place 30mm gun on tank

This is more of a does Gaijin provide it with the needed rounds / systems in game to make it work.

I hope one day we see the test vehicle with the APS and 30mm so Gaijin goes alright and give it to us.

Well I think we need to maybe not add somuch vehicle that are so close to others. Maybe the version with the extra roadwheel a modification, or the Type 10 APS or the Type-10 with the Mitsubishi APS.
And as for the type-90 130mm I vote yes with both hands
