I’ve had this issue for several games now, overall just since the launch of the major update. I can’t seem to reliably get a IR lock on a target, even at closer ranges using my stormbreakers on the F16CM. It keeps on going into GNSS mode instead of IR.

The bomb itself is very bugged and MITL doesn’t even work when every other munition with MITL works as intended

someone (I can’t remember where to look) made a bug report about the GBU-53 having incorrect FOV, and while that was sort of fixed, it cannot lock outside of it’s old FOV, so if you try to lock outside of that, it will lose lock and just glide like a dumb bomb.
I thought they would fix it by the time the update was released, but nope.
JAGM IRs also seem to have this issue but then it shows up as point but then it still tracks I think, against air targets for JAGMS it shows up as tracking.
Yeah, not only on the F16 but on the Golden Eagle, on the f18s and on the Pobit, too. So damn annoying.
It’s almost like the problems show up on other planes when using the same bomb
