[WARNING: This will be a VERY lengthy post that will go over a single issue that particularly pisses me off]
You wanna know another thing that grinds my gears and that I think has gotten PAINFULLY obvious with the new addition of the F-16C PoBIT?
For those who have already read my posts you likely know at what I’m hinting at, but for the sake of introductions I’ll elaborate.
Ever since I joined the forums as an active participant I’ve dedicated my time to researching avionics, mostly MFD’s, as I find that part fascinating as it gives you an insight into how different companies and Air Forces solve the problem of conveying information to the pilot.
Things such as the Stores Management System, fire control radar display modes, HUD, RWR displays, Sensor Fusion and many other aspects are often SO SLOPPILY HANDLED FOR CHEAP GENERAL SOLUTIONS WHICH TAKE ANY CHARM, PRACTICALITY AND FUNCTION FROM THE AIRCRAFT
And this personally bothers me because there is source material for MOST aircraft, and even those that are rare have records, descriptions, mentions in books and aviation magazines, etc.
However, ever since the PoBIT got released it BAFFLED me how Gaijin could just add it as it was.
Which was, either have and ADI display and TWO RADAR SCREENS, or… THREE RADAR SCREENS
Keep in mind that this is the same aircraft series that has been seen to be implemented with an HSD in its modern variants, with a proven SMS, and many more, yet we got this disgrace…
And the worst part of this is that, this is not exclusive to just the F-16, other aircraft like the Kfir family of aircraft, MiG-29 Sniper, Eurofighter, Rafale, Mirage 2000, and many more suffer this exact problem and this leads me to the next point.
How is it possible, that a company such as Gaijin with the amount of developers and researchers are incapable of delivering fully fledged MFD’s, and often reports of these missing capabilities are shoved under the rug or just sitting on pending for implementation until the “right time” comes.
And the incredible thing is that, this isn’t an issue when it comes to sources, because MOST Air Forces pride in showcasing their equipment in videos and promotional material.
Like, this isn’t the case of Air Forces in decadence that constantly recycle video footage (such as the Ecuadorian Air Force does) in ever release, BUT EVEN THEN YOU CAN STILL GET VALUABLE SNIPPETS FROM IT.
On the internet you can find footage from simulators, pilot’s recordings of their cockpits, official documents, statements, standalone pictures, and despite ALL THIS, we still get MFD’s such as these I’m about to present:

And the worst part is that, if these changes and features were just a matter of decoration or consensual reluctant historical accuracy one would not find this issue, however, these MFD modes are part of the official capabilities of every platform, which are key to the aircraft’s performance, quality and comfort, specially in SIMULATOR BATTLES.
