Surprise!
It’s ok, it’s actually a swan! 😄
As long as the player base keeps buying this stuff, they’ll keep adding it.
This low tier stuff is fine for me, if only a single 189 sees the TT the it would be for me a perfect recipe of adding a premium.
Can’t say the same of some of these +70 dollars scams around the shop.
still cant even get a tech tree FW 189 both are locked behind pay walls lovely
except we have yet to recieve a tech tree version of the 189
Leave something for the tech tree eh?
On an ideal world the Fw-189 C would be the perfect premium variant, skippin it doesn’t make a whole lot, but if you want fun or simply be a collector you can pick it on the spot with that cheap price.
That ideal world has a TT Fw-189, which we don’t
But also we do see an increment in premiums per update
As written earlier by a fellow player - the dev server BR of 2.7 in Air RB kills this plane just due to the way too high BR.
-
Even if we talk about an attacker / strike aircraft with a forward air spawn - if you look at the competition at this BR like A-36s, Me 410s (strike fighters) or P-39s or just a plain Yak-7b (fighters) it is quite obvious that the guys responsible for a foreseen BR of 2.7 never play the game.
-
It is therefore rather sad that the efforts of the 2 mentioned war thunder players will not be rewarded adequately - as no sane person will buy this aircraft at this BR and subsequently these 2 players won’t get their well deserved revenue share.
-
Most players have never met of fought the already implemented (but ultra-rare) Fw 189 A-1. This plane has actually a bomber spawn and can use this altitude advantage combined with a very good turn quite effectively vs most enemy fighters. On top of that: The defensive MG 81 Z has an insane fire rate and a very large field of fire. But it sits at a BR of 2.3 in Air RB.
-
So if gaijin’s staff thinks a better armament would justify a higher BR of 2.7 they have not considered that the moderate success of the lighter event Fw 189 A-1 is just the result of the 3,500 meter bomber air spawn of this variant. A way heavier (armored) strike aircraft having an 1 km air spawn deserves therefore actually a lower BR as the ability to bring guns on target is decisive - and not the caliber of the guns.
-
So even if you see its primary role in Ground RB - the plane is in every metric significantly outperformed by the Swiss C-3604 at BR 2.7 in the German TT. So every player thinking about investing a few bucks for this aircraft should be aware of that putting a talisman on the C-3604 is way more effective.
-
In order to make this rather unique prototype aircraft even worth to consider you should think about 2 different BRs for this aircraft:
- BR 2.3 for Ground RB
- BR 2.0 for Air RB
- This would consider the actual combat effectiveness in both modes from a way more realistic pov and also the already existing aircraft in all TTs. Otherwise you just rob the 2 wt players (which invested blood, sweat and tears to create this plane) from any noteworthy financial rewards and German players from having a realistic fighting chance.
Have in mind that you can always increase BRs if planes become too effective - but if you prevent people from buying a premium due to non-competitive BRs nobody has a benefit.
In GRB and Sim EC, I think the Me 210 is way more user-friendly than the Me 410. Unlike the 410, the 210 actually has functional wing hardpoints, so you can carry four extra SC 50 bombs under the wings on top of the two SC 250s in the bomb bay. Drop them right and you can even destroy heavy tanks. It’s honestly better for CAS.
The Fw 189C can also carry SC 50 bombs, so if you have the skill to land direct hits on tanks, I think it’s quite usable up to BR 4.3 GRB.
except other ones already a premium so lets have this one as a tech tree then
It’s a shame I can only like this post once.
Thanks.
But without playing frequently playing BR 3.3(but Rank III planes) exclusively in Air RB it is rather easy for any gaijin employee to come to the wrong conclusions - the BR setting of gaijin is just the most obvious place for that.
Regarding the rare Fw 189 A-1:
-
Every 5-600 matches you see a full downtier to 2.3 and meet a battle hardened vet in a Fw 189 A-1 smoking 3-5 enemy fighters with just 2 offensive 7,92mm MGs whilst the plane is able to outturn 3.3 I-16s.
-
But - the plane is no serious threat for any experienced pilot as it is way to slow, underpowered and most of his opponents have heavier HMGs and 20mm cannons (ShVaks start at 2.0, same as Hisoano in P-400). And in opposition to real fighters the LER and MER is pathetic. A single hit with 12,7 or 20 mm disassembles the elevator granting you a kill.
Regarding German prop premium aircraft:
-
That gaijin has serious issues with a competitive BR setting of German TT aircraft up to Rank IV is not secret. What i do not understand is that they do this even for premium aircraft and hurt their own income due to this approach.
-
When i see that the Italian TT offers a German Rank III strike aircraft at BR 2.3 (Romanian HS 129 with better armament and payload) or the US a BR 2.3 fighter (XF5F - not bad) at Rank III (=both allow BP tasks and 2nd stage daily tasks) the advertised Fw 189 C at Rank I will end up as hangar queen.
-
Based on ~ 30,000 Air RB battles at WW 2 BRs i would even claim that besides the BR 3.0 captured Yak-1B and the BR 5.7 Do 335 B-2 spending GEs (or buying a pack) for German premiums is a waste of money as all others are seriously outperformed either in flight characteristics or armament - or both.
-
We can argue about the 3.0 Rank II Bf 109 T-2, the P-47 (without bombs) or even the Ju 288, but the first needs well trained pilots and the third saw countless open and hidden nerfs over the years.
In general:
Some premium planes have potential either by lowering the BR (like the 2 Fw 190s) or by granting the same 2 km air superiority fighter spawn like the UK/US night fighters (Ta 154 & He 219) but it looks like that players don’t care about competitiveness in Air RB as long as the planes can be used in Ground RB.
So as long as players don’t realize that voting with their wallets is their most powerful tool to convince gaijin to rethink their approach regarding German props nothing will change…
Its a known measure by Gajin. German Panzer IV and some Stug models are also just rank II to make them simply meh to play. While foreign IV’s and Stugs are offered as rank III units. The< really hate German TT. You have tons of 3.7 and even 4.0 German units, which are still stuck with rank II. Despite that high br.
I’d like to have rank III planes at 2.3 BR as well. But for Germany thats obviously unthinkable.
its almost as ugly as the amount of premium spam every update
Incorrect, revshare doesn’t preclude adding them to the tech tree, for reference here the two I remember:
He 177
Bv 138
Also, some cockpits from tech tree vehicles were community made:
He 111
Po-2
The Wiki has a selected list, which shows a bunch of premiums, some event, and the above-mentioned tech tree additions.
Uhu = owl, not duckling. I suppose for this new 189 C, will you add more payloads for it & the 189 A-1 since a bunch of their ordnance is missing? For example, it should have the SD 2, SC 10, SD 50, SD 70, AB 70, & S 125:

Achchewallie, that copy/paste piece of junk definitely does not count since it is a foreign, post-war rotorcraft, not an aircraft, WW2 vehicle, or German
They can keep the A-1 as premium as long as they give us the most produced model, the Fw 189 A-2 for the free tech tree:

Gaijin we are all still waiting for a Fw 189 A-2. Furthermore, someone should also make a suggestion for the Fw 189 A-4:

I do not know if that was deliberate or gaijin is just completely ignorant regarding the Hummel, but mark my words: IF the soviets ever receive a captured Hummel in this game, it will, by default, be superior to the very early model Hummel that gaijin stuck us (Germany) with:
We actually have two:

This is strictly a (nerf) problem with the game which has been reported time & time again without result. Look here:

Anyway, now that this competitor to the Hs 129 has been introduced to this game, will the Hs 129 itself be corrected to reflect its superiority over the Fw 189 C? For example, where is its missing ordnance such as the quad MG 17 pod, MG 131, MK 101, ETC 50 wing rack, SD 2, SD 4, SC 10, SD 50, SD 70, AB 250, Flam C 250, & SC 250 bombs?:

Not the first time for germany😶
But you know, the Fw 189C doesn’t really give off much of a “Uhu” vibe to me. It can’t fight at night, and it’s not capable of that kind of aerial combat where an owl hunts bats. “Uhu” is a nickname that suits the He 219 perfectly.
The animal that immediately came to mind when I first saw the Fw 189C was a Goose. So, “Gans(Rotgans)”. Geese are a size larger than ducks and a bit uglier.
Don’t you think the Goose rugged, chunky beak looks just like Armored Cabin?
I think the situation would change dramatically if the 3.7 cm Pzgr.18 APHE round were added to the ammunition options for the BK 37 gun pod.
