The overpressure formula for CM502KG has obvious errors. During the live broadcast, Mr. bvvd even used a truck as a target for the CM502KG, indicating that the production team might be aware of this issue but has not made any response or changes. We players have reason to suspect that the production team is deliberate and is targeting the CM502KG missile.
Well I mean we did say: This doesn’t look right cause the other SAP HE with similar explosive index can do a kill in the same place. But then they said u need to have sources, which is not correct because the point of the datamined info is just there to say: hey this is an ingame issue, nothing to do with IRL.
doesnt do anything, just tested it now, 6 missles at 6 different MBTs, and 5 out of 6 did absolutely no damge, only one killed the tank by hitting its commander optics by luck
The official attitude towards the issues with CM502KG is extremely perfunctory, with the vast majority being labeled as ‘not a bug’ or merely restating the issue content, which is a complete display of indifference. It seems that the development team has already decided to go their own way, which completely goes against the original intention of the game forum. Gaijin needs to reflect!
The CM502KG’s ballistic has significant issues; why does the LMUR, which has the same type of warhead as the CM502KG, have excellent ballistics and a large angle of incidence, while the CM502KG has a very, very small angle of incidence, with the HE warhead aiming directly at the main armor of the tank?
Looks like it’s no longer identical to the AN/APR-39(V)1 on the AH-1Fs but it has overall less bands of detection now (at this point in time, the Z-10ME RWR is LESS capable than the AH-1F’s RWR now - a helicopter from the 1970s)
I’m honestly not sure what criteria or metric the devs use to determine how PLA helicopters’ avionics perform.
the fire snakes are there, it seems to me that the first Z10 in the tree is also capable of firing them and the big rocket x19 pods are still missing for the FS70 rocket
I’ve had decent success using it when manually pitching up ~45° before firing giving it a much higher loft, kills MBT’s that aren’t covered in ERA almost 100% of the time
I didn’t get a screenshot before they changed it to HE but compared to a rocket of about the same weight and speed with a 11kg SAP-HE warhead the CM-506 does less damage for some reason
SAPHE penetrates and then explodes (like high-TNT equiv APHE shells that love to overpressure – think of BR-471B from IS-2, or the PzGr from Tiger H1). If it doesn’t penetrate, SAPHE then explodes like HE.
This explains the tracks (since it penetrates the tracks and then explodes the 30mm side armour of Abrams instead of just exploding when contacting the tracks), but I am not sure why the RP-3 kills Abrams with some portions of its turret cheek while CM-502 (with higher tnt equivalent and thus HE penetration) doesn’t.
The only reason I can think of is because CM-502 is bigger, and so the centre of explosion is much further away than that of RP-3’s.
SAPHE is definitely one of the best types of penetrator in the game, but its maximum kinetic penetration is almost always the issue:
Tracks / foliage / destructible objects don’t trigger it to explode (unlike HE or HEATFS)
It one-shots every time as long as you penetrate (unlike HEATFS / APFSDS)
It still retains high-explosive penetration (like HE), so even if it does not kinetically penetrate, it can overpressure outside of the vehicle too.
If they had more penetration, I would 100% say that it is better than other types such as APFSDS, high-caliber HE, or APHE.
Luckily, CM-502KG and LMURs both are top-attack missiles, so the low penetration that comes with SAPHE is not as troublesome.
But for the CM-502KG’s to have its SAPHE removed is quite tragic.
