From BR I should start plaing sim

Hey, I’d like to give a chance and try a sim game. From which BR I should start playing to not be a sealcubed and not to get a bored quickly from flaying without purpose.

Already from US line I got almost everything between start and F16 and I have some experience from air RB. Also I have a joystick with hotas.

Any BR is fine but don’t jump straight to missile tiers.

Props can be tricky on takeoff because the propeller torque will pull your plane to the side and rotate it as soon as you lift of. But that’s a training thing.

In terms of flying, I would say early jets are the easiest to learn. The saber for example is really forgiving and a good beginner plane for SIM. And it has plenty of ammo, so you can practice a lot.

What you will need for SIM is something to look around. (Loose sight, loose fight is very true here)
The mouse is a bit unhandy with hotas, track IR is great, but expensive.
I started with a self build track IR and the open track software. Not perfect, but super cheap (I got away with under 20€).

I’m going to directly contrast what this guy said here and say that analog jets are the literal worst jets to learn on because they do jet speeds without jet assists that you will get later on. Aiming at guys going 750-1100kph while you are flying a jet at the same speeds without any computer assistance is extremely difficult in comparison to props (slower speeds) OR later jets (gen3+ generally) that have assists

I believe that even an Xbox/PS controller would work well. I’ve yet to test it in WT, but I have used a PS3 controller in IL-2: Wings of Prey and it worked well.

I’d bind one stick to look around, and the other to pitch/roll. Then I’d bind the triggers to the rudder movement. This way you can both look around and maneuver at the same time.

Any BR is fine.

However, lower BRs are cheaper to learn in as repair costs aren’t absolutely stupid. I personally find the most activity & enjoyment flying my 4.0 P-51 Mustang.

I’d personally recommend staying away from anything Tier 4/tier 5 unless you got premium OR a good SL income.

Taking out my F4U-4B costs 11k SL, my F2H2 15K SL. It’s hard to make the spawn cost back even once you kiiiinda know what you’re doing (can land consistently, can land shots on A.I, occasionally beat a player), much less if you crash on landings or miss all your shots.

Early props (tier 1) are a bad idea imho because slow and no trim, and I found having no trim makes control much less intuitive and easier to over-pull/spin out.

Yes. aiming is easier in rank 3, but takeoff, landing and turning is way more forgiving in a sabre than in a prop.

Thing is though,

Crashing a zero or a mustang will cost you ~3000 SL. Crashing a sabre will cost you 15000+. And torque can be relatively mindless to account for after you do it for enough hours.

You loose way more SL in rank 5 and 6. That could be a problem…

Maybe rank 3 is really the better choice.

But do yourself a favour and stick to smaller maps.
Afghanistan in rank 2 or 3 is like playing solo. You will never see anyone…

The WW2 maps (Ruhr, Stalingrad, Kursk, Maginot, etc.) are better if you don’t want to fly for 10-20 min without anything happening.

Early jets (6.7-8.3) are most fun by far.

Look at this table and stick to 64x64 and dover strait. It will make 300-400 km/h planes much more bearable for flight times to action zones.

Only issue with that is the awful repair costs for some jets (especially german ones).

But I do think the F80 is a decent plane, and it isn’t too expensive either.

@macon there isn’t a BR. It more or less just depends on what you’re allowed to bring.

I’m used to Sweden ones, so I never had too excessive spawn costs.

Personally I would recommend easy and stable aircraft like the P-38, P-40, Firebrand, and other really good ones. Reserve is also fun I love using my D. 371 HS.9. Zeros and 109s are easy too

Ok, but I assume he wants to do more than fly, especially since it’s still not EASY to fly analog jets seeing as how again, you have to manually fly a thing going 1000kph with no assist.

Personally I would start with a twin engined fighter because you won’t have to deal with (as much) prop torque. That being said, when I first started playing sim it was in the P-40E and it was pretty fun.

Don’t go to top tier (AMRAAM territory) right away but something like 10.0/11.0 is probably doable; 8.0-9.0 would be even better, probably. But save that for when you have a grip on sim controls, its expensive. Sometimes even with a positive KD I don’t break even at that tier.

Like I wrote before I already own a joystick with a hotas (thrustmaster warthog) and eye tracker (Tobii 5) so if comes to equiment I belive I’m ready :)

After a few yt clips and your opinions I think I will start from F3H-2 or Twin Mustanga.

I’d say start with running a test flight in sim mode so you can practice taking off, BFM and landing without risking SL.

Find out which speed your vehicle stalls at (by actually practicing a stall and recovery).

The most common mode of failure in sim is people stalling/spinning during a fight so avoiding that condition is key.

That’s a great equipment for SIM.

I just mentioned the saber because it’s very easy to fly and has a good cockpit visibility.

Just try different planes and play what is the most fun for you.
