It absolutely can fire HEAT Spanishavenger Char 25 T Wrong Gun - Documented Ground Reports - War Thunder - Official Forum
i’d say their current BR is fine, except for the 25T as many pointed out
lowering their br means they would mostly meet M26/46, IS-2s and king tigers, which considering the fire power they have wouldn’t be very fair
I personnally have a lot of fun with this line up when i play it
Very funny how such clearly proven and i believe quite important report hasn’t been implemented in nearly 4 years now.
I know there are hundreds of such reports, but it really isn’t a lot of work to copy a shell from different tank in game and add it to another one. It doesn’t involve any remodelling and is highly impactfull to gameplay of said vehicle
Depends on the map and you confidence of your skill.
I have spots on maps that oversee points that I’ll camp at.
I also have tactics of hyper-aggression for some maps when I feel the confidence.
I’m a bad teacher, a terrible teacher, so sadly all I can do is point out that they exist.
I see~ Cos I do quite good games with my 7.7 lineup anyway especially with the Somua SM. But when I try to plat the AMX-30 Super in 9.3, damn… It goes hard, lol
Barely killing one guy before dying most of the times~
So yeah, the Somua SM is great where it is. But the Surbaissé should go down. It may have a bigger cannon, he has awful suspension, no stabiliser, and he should not be considered as an heavy tank, but more as a tank destroyer, since it cannot tank any shot.
The Somua SM is mid imo, it’s simply worse than the AMX-50 (TOA100) except in a full downtier. Worse mobility and reverse for armor that’s only helpful when fully downtiered.
AMX-50 Foch is fine at 7.3 IMO, it’s got great mobility for the weight class, good reverse, 15mm MG, and very good armor. It’s a casemate TD so the side armor is less relevant if you are playing it like a T95 or JT where you sit on a road in a city and camp. And it has one of the best AP shells in the game.
You bring up French ground vehicles BR problems, but use France 7.7/8.0 as an example?? What??
The real suffering lies with AMX-30/32…
if it was 6.7 or 7.0, sure you could compare it to the JT or T95. But at 7.3 you start seeing more and more 400pen heat shells that make your armor meaningless. Your side armor is VERY relevant considering the number of autocannon vehicles running around. At 60 degrees most fixed arc TDs can ignore those autocannons. you can’t.
‘one of the best AP shells’ is like saying ‘one of the best of the 3rd ranks’. You aren’t APFSDS or APHE and you aren’t HEAT or HE. There are still a bunch of UFPs you can’t pen and you don’t have the fragmentation to OHK without doing so.
15mm MG is useless except against exposed crew. It has no pen and can’t aim up very high.
Not in my experience, consistently killed me easily
Thepost pen spalling is bad only on lightly armoured vehicles. Heavier targets can usually be oneshot because the obus de rupture is just a good shell. I have not played the foch recently but the surbaisse has the same gun and I played that quite a bit. The only reason I can attribute the bad experience to would be a skill issue.
I was thinking about it, but I think the AMX-50 Surbaissé also deserves to be at a lover br bc the Surblindé exists. The Surblindé litteraly is like the Surbaissé, but better on every point. The thing is it’s the rarest tank of the game, and one of the most expensive. But I don’t think it’s the reason for having both at the same br when one actually is the same, but better.
Like, even if surely so little ppl plays the Surblindé, and so you barely fight it, I don’t think it legitimises is 7.7 br when the Surbaissé also is at 7.7. There’s should be a br diff between the two. And I’d lower the Surbaissé rather than increasing the Surblindé’s one I think.
The surbaisse is fine at 7.7. If the amx50 and lorraine 40t do well there . No reason to put it down if it has a sinilar reload and a 120mm cannon. No other high caliber at this br has such a fast reload.
I thought there are only 4 players with 1 be higher and there is no guarantee that it is a 2v2. So lets say I’m in 7.7, there is a chance that there will be 4 8.7 players on the other side and none in my team. The amount of 8.7 is maxed at 4, but rest of the players can be any br between 7.7 and 8.3
I’m pretty sure 7.7 France has given me more nukes than any other lineup. The 4 second autoloaders are absurdly good if you can put them into the right position, and they have the mobility to ensure you can get there.
Yeah, it’s not great when you’re uptiered, but there isn’t a single 7.7 lineup in the game (outside maybe the British) that does well when full uptiered. Blame the compression.
The BR changes at that tier confused me. The Char 25t was undeniably good. Having a short reload, low profile, highly mobile APHE slinger made it my favorite tank in the lineup. However, I don’t think that warranted the BR bump, and it definitely didn’t deserve that bump when it ends up at the same tier as the Object 906, which is effectively the same tank but with a stabilizer and the option for HEATFS.
Meanwhile, the AMX 50/90 is just a Char 25t but larger, making it less useful for the sneaky flanking the Char 25t excels in.
In my opinion, if any part of that lineup needed to move up, it was the Somua SM. It’s basically a 50/100 that trades a moderate hit to mobility for the hull armor of a Tiger II. It’s just cruel against lower tiered opponents, who have to aim for the small and volumetrically protected turret. This thing fights Pershings, just to put it into perspective, and they and everyone else using APHE have to aim for a small strip of armor just below the gun to pen unless a point blank range. Meanwhile, the Somua mostly just points and clicks with a four second reload.
Maybe it doesn’t need to move up, but at least decompress it away from 6.7.
