Fox 3 Terrain Clutter

I die more to invisible trees being 70 meters tall and sudden sharp rocks being 40 meters tall than i do missiles. Just make terrain clutter be 50 meters and not 30 for the love of all that is holy. 30 meters is an arbitrary number pulled out of the sky anyway, so we might as well pull another one from the same source. 50 would allow for most pilots to dip in and out of the tree line without just crashing to evade missiles. Its honestly so obnoxious, I DONT WANT TO deny the enemies kill by self inflicted un-aliving.
But with the way these fox3s in game are behaving so irradicably it just happens.
And yes i know modern fox3s dont really have ground effect issues, but modern fox 3s are easier to chaff and notch than whatever the hek wizardry we have in this game haha (Yes i can evade the fox 3 spam at all altitudes and know how to hook a chaff into a notch and confuse most missiles, but with 16 players it doesnt really matter when you have 16 missiles launched at you does it?)
Rant over, yes I know, get good, lol.

Multipath starts at 60 meters homie.

they turned it down to 30 a while ago, if im not below 30 i get hit every time.

you can also tell when you are in multipath effect by the radar indication indicating you are below the multipath ceiling.

Do you have a source for this?

The ground radar indication is manually set by the player in game options.

below 30 is the only near guarantee, it starts at 60, but 9/10 times ive found i get hit above 30 meters. Its buried in a dev post from a couple months ago. if you arent getting hit all time flying between 30-60 id honestly say you have a broken version of warthunder, even my r77s hit people flying 31meters haha

Well I dont spend a whole lot of time trying to defeat missiles via multipath, but I have managed to defeat missiles by staying below 60m at least once in the last week, so YMMV.

Its 60m, and im easily able to stay way below that 99% of the time on any map. Im still wanting them to reduce it further, 40m would be the next logical step

it might start at 60 but im not lucky enough to never not catch a missile between 30 and 60. so i mostly fly under 30 when im using multipath.
As far as “40m being the next logical step” the actual logical step is to fix how radar missiles work and then remove it for missiles that werent effected by it. And then maybe we will see proper BVR combat once russia gets better fox 3s.
Yet the aim54, which is largely effected by multipath, with some estimates even up to 100 meters, is still stuck to “60” ( but yet once again i seem to only be able to use that when im below 30)

As far as I am aware, no Fox-3s were affected by MP at all and most SARH missiles above 11.0 would be the same.

The only issue I have with the Aim-54s is their warhead size can sometimes cause splash damage when it MPs

Not a primary source, but this states the Min alt for Aim-54C was 15m

They shouldn’t reduce it any more until all rank VII+ planes get stock chaff, and more decompression is done, atleast in my opinion.

Yeah, Stock chaff and further decompress definetly, but after that, they should just get rid of MP altogether (Make it historically accurate by missile)

I play sim mostly these days

this is an air rb topic btw

Does MP not exist in other gamemodes to RB?

That being said. I’ve spent most of today spading the F3 Late in ARB, no issue at all staying below MP height

Also I have more experiencec than you in either RB or SB

All you’ve played is the F-14A and not that well

you do know that most of the f14 rounds these days are against Aim120, AIm9m, R73, PL5E II slingers? Maintaining a 2.0 kd with 60 chaff flare, no rwr and no all aspect irccm missiles is quite difficult there. As you would know if you actually played the br where multipath is essential to survival if the plane lacks any of the other countermeasures like performance, rwr or countermeasure abundance.

As it stands with the Big Trees and the up/down movement of terrain + reduced multipath from a top down aspect we really need to go back. Either with reduced tree hit sizes or more area to navigate up and down that doesn’t send you flying into trees.

And if you have ever actually played any aircraft where the gameplay loop wasnt

  1. Climb
  2. fire off a Aim-54
  3. RTB

You would know that MP Destroys most BVR aircrafts primary weapon system. The amount of times i’ve had to try and gunfight a F-15 or Su-27 in a Tornado F3, because my AMRAAM or Skyflash ST slammed into the ground instead of just flying in a straight line to hit the target is insane.

You should not be immune to 50% of an aircrafts weapon systems just because you fly below 60m, which is stupidly easy to do 99% of the time. Especially with the R-alt telling you exactly what alt you are at.

its kinda on a spectrum, the lower you are the more likely multipathing will work

imho going cold/notching is still far more effective than MP. I usually go low when on maps that have a lot of water or lots of mountains (just because i love doing trench runs lol)

Yep, though god damn they need to fix BOL
