While creating my previous suggestions, I noticed that many other aircraft around these battle ratings have also been overlooked. I donโt want these aircraft to be forgotten, as many of them still have potential to be improved.
This discussion is here as a place for players to share their thoughts on aircraft between 11.3 and 12.3 and discuss possible changes that could improve balance across these battle ratings.
Whether itโs missing equipment, outdated loadouts, or battle ratings that no longer fit the current game, this is an opportunity to highlight aircraft that deserve more attention and discuss how they could be improved.
If the Phantoms receive these buffs and quality-of-life improvements, then the Mirage F1 should be moved down to 11.7.
Itโs still a decent aircraft, but itโs been largely forgotten about. Either that, or Gaijin sees players making good money by bombing bases and assumes the aircraft is performing well because of the Silver Lions itโs earning. That isnโt a good way to judge its actual effectiveness in air combat.
This would be a simple and justified BR change. The Mirage F1 reminds me a lot of the MiG-23ML and MLD. You get two excellent missiles, but once youโve fired them, youโre left relying on mediocre ones for the rest of the match. The magic 2s are 50 to 45% of the aircraftโs firepower.
Iโve also seen people argue that because the Tornados sit at a similarly high battle rating, the Mirage F1 should stay where it is. I donโt think thatโs a strong argument. All it does is justify Gaijinโs inconsistent BR placements. The Tornado strike aircraft are also overtiered and should be moved down in Air Battles as well.
Iโd move the early Tornados down to 11.0 in Air Battles, and the later variants down to 11.7. As they stand, these aircraft just arenโt capable of changing the outcome of a match. If you try to focus on ground targets, youโll probably get swatted out of the sky by someone looking for an easy kill.
Iโm trying to understand Gaijinโs reasoning here, but I imagine theyโre worried that a four-player squad could load into a match and wipe out every ground target with the Tornadoโs huge bomb load, ending the game almost immediately, like how AD-4s might be able to at 6.0. In reality, though, Air Battles donโt really play out like that, especially with how vulnerable the Tornado is while carrying bombs.
