Funny enough, realistic APHE would just be outright bad due to the fuse failing all the time. Especially against angled armor. It’d be identical to solid shot most of the time but in some cases slightly better.
Should also be noted that APHE overpressure is wildly overtuned. The explosive first has to overcome the thick walled cavity it’s confined to before increasing pressure in the fighting compartment. That’ll take a decent amount of energy from the detonation. Should require a pretty huge shell with a lot of filler (like 127mm to 155mm or larger) to enable APHE overpressure.
If you want your shell to be in any condition to explode the explosive cavity needs to stay intact or explosive and detonator will get separated.
They shot the plate at 0° impact. Which is the ideal scenario for the shell. Any slight angle and the shell will start to break appart.
Against highly sloped armor the striker will simply jam itself in place, due to the forces pushing the shell away from the direction of flight, instead of moving forward into the detonator, so also no effect behind the armor.
Yeah, this is even noticeable in the blast damage of aircraft shells.
I compared the destruction power of different shells against aircraft wings and Mineshells cause more structural damage compared to thicker walled explosives shells.
I’ve noticed a lack of respect from USA players towards the 341. It’s like something out of a movie. Lil bro calling over a big bro to try ambush the apex predator that doesn’t stand for said ambushes.
Haha, I have since replaced SturmTiger with Kugel. But to be fair, Allied CAS hasn’t been a real issue with all the 341 running around. I’ve been dropping those 2x2500KG bombs of the JU288, quite a bit though. I forgot how good that plane was. Though, to be fair, when I last used it - it didn’t even have access to the 2500kg bomb. The self-sealing fuel tanks and its ability to just put out fires in general. No wonder the bots use that thing to base bomb in ARB during events.
Rubbish. Especially the side armour. Heavy tanks don’t have universally heavy armour on all sides. Him reversing and exposing his side was the worst thing he could have done.
the only reason its even being played enmass right now is because of the bug and the op ass shell it shouldnt have gotten because again and i cannot stress enough IT NEVER EXISTED
no i complain about the 2s38 and i own it too but guess what i rarely touch it and the turm isnt that op to begin with it has no armor is light enough for a light tank classification and still isnt a light tank and it tends to struggle against russian vehicles so again only one coping here is you the 341 is an op aphe dispenser just as the 2s38 is an op apfsds dispenser if you have a problem with the turm go into the forum page about it and like you told me cry about it
That’s my main issue with auto cannons, their ability to find pixel sized armour holes or just spam you so hard the server gives up and just kills you so it doesn’t have to deal with it anymore.
The other issue is SPAAs being uptierd due to their anti tank capabilities to the point they struggle to deal with planes, the ZSU-57-2 and Falcon being the 2 best examples. If the ZSU got the same VT round as the Chinese one and went up to the same BR it would help.
If those 2 issues are addressed I would have far less issue with the SPAAs AP rounds.
But this is ridiculous and needs fixing:
Yes, a lot of people complain about the Flakpanzer 341 when they do this. Positioning is very important when fighting against this vehicle but even with good positioning, it can still be pretty hard to confront this vehicle. I made this thread to discuss the problem of it doing things it shouldn’t like destroying vehicles front-on that would be near impossible for other SPAA especially in the 5.3 to 8.0 range (With the BR changes 5.3 and 5.7 won’t have it anymore). I know a lot of people will point out the ZSU-57-2 having APHE and the ZSU-57 having HVAP with a lot of pen at 3.3 is “OP” but its the high rate of fire, APHE rounds with a lot of penetration, and protection that made the Flakpanzer 341 overpowered at its former BR (It still is OP at 7.0+).
