F22 Even Possible in War Thunder?

How can the F22 possibly be balanced in War Thunder? It’s widely considered the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world. Problematically almost all details regarding the jet are heavily classified. Beyond pride and politics, releasing this vehicle into War Thunder would require Gaijin to severely downgrade the vehicle for it to be a fair to play against. The jet is also one of the first true stealth jets making RCS modeling a nightmare. The same goes for the aim9x but that’s a different conversation.

In your heart you already know, Gaijin will inevitably release it unrealistically nerfed in every single aspect…

We have Rah-66 and F-117 you can test stealth with them
but F-22 would be very strong and no idea how gajin will even balance it

The only thing notable about the F-22 is its stealth. and Im guessing that whilst it will be harder to detect at extreme range, it will be perfectly trackable at most ranges in WT (Like at 50-80km), let alone IRST tracking. otherwise it would just be a stupid addition, especially when you consider talk of adding advanced ARH missiles (like Meteor) to the 4.5s.

Well not to mention that the F117 is supposed to be invisible to radar so the fact you CAN lock it proves gaijin is willing to release nerfed vehicles.

You can say this about every single modern gen fighter out there

Yes, but the F22 is the F22. To even propose its addition is ludicrous.

im curious as to what the detection ranges on the f-117 is vs asea radars in game now are, kinda hard to find a vid of anyone testing that

F22 has a pretty reduced IR signature I believe it’s like 60% reduced compared to a f15C

and I still think that older IRST system can detect it at like 40-50km

what are you even basing this on? even jets we have in game now arnt showing up on irst at 50km

Because IRST are artificially limited to 30km? range. Most, if not all, should be significantly higher

IRL IRST systems are fairly good at range, stuff like the F-14’s has 185km of range against a target with afterburner enabled. IRST ranges are heavily handicapped in game.

Trying to balance top tier is basically impossible, so fun times ahead.

Not to mention absurd flight performance…

Stealth doesn’t mean invisible lol. Plenty of top tier radars can detect it just fine. I find that sometimes ARH missiles will miss though.

It’s only really a problem at the start of games. Once the game naturally devolves into a close range furball then it gets easier to deal with, especially since it only has a limited quantity of missiles compared to everyone else

Most modern IRST systems (Eurofighter, Rafale, Su-30, etc.) can detect at higher ranges in every aspect, it’ s game limit thing.

Yes and no. its good, but not necessarily that far ahead of anything we already have in-game. And if it does start to beat the Typhoon too much, we can just get AMK

Lmao

Sorry, I thought it was so funny how quickly you came to defend even the notion of the Eurofifghter being toppled in the flight performance category.

Anyways, the F-22 is superior in pretty much every category. Straight line? Faster to accelerate than F-15E, turn performance? Probably not going to be a eurocanard at speed but at 700-800? Best of its class, even better than Su-30SM2. Hell, it even has superior super cruise capability, because staying on afterburner just eats fuel (iirc it’s roughly 6 mins of flight time on a full tank if full afterburning the entire time? crazy.)

Yep PIRATE is something like 50-80km but maybe as high as 150km under optimal conditions. I assume that is front-aspect figures, so side and rear would be even higher.

Even with the F-22s thermal diserpation, I think 40 or so km detection range would not be unreasonable for the PIRATE, and that is an IRST from the 1990s. Litening V and the upgraded PIRATE more than likely have that beat by quite a bit

And I think its funny the US mains think they are just going steamroll every single match without contest.

More than likely the stealth tech wont make it invisible, Probably gunna be heavily mitigated as its a game, meaning im certain that AESA radars will be able to quite happily detect it at most ranges found in-game, they’ll just have an easier time defending. This is supported by the fact that Gaijin is rumoured to be planning to add next Gen ARH to non-stealth top tier aircraft. Such as Meteor to the Typhoon. If Stealth was going to be really good, then IIR missiles would be the more valuable addition

Typhoon firing Meteor vs F-22 firing Aim-120C5s seems like a reasonable fight to me in BVR and I think the F-22s WVR performance is exagerated like all US aircraft are. Im also gunna assume the F-22 wont be coming with HMD either.

well then i say add the plane if its not gonna be all that good then
