lol just notch bro
That is not coded in this game according to devs.
holy shit, you know nothing
me when i lie
@MiGoon_Fox-3
I am repeating what a lead radar developer of War Thunder has said.
A video cannot prove datalink exists for a SARH missile.
That video does not show datalink because it can’t, all it shows is a SARH switching to a different radar return, which is what all SARHs do because that’s the technology of SARH missiles.
@Kingskofi If you think stepanovich is not being truthful, go say that to him, not me.
bruh.
The video literally shows data link in motion but you claim it doesnt.
@Kingskofi
No, the video shows radar locking in motion.
So unless you have evidence that proves a game developer that works on radars in War Thunder wrong, I’m going to trust him and the datamines over randoms online.

Datalink is literally part of what guides R-27ERs
look in the game files dude

@MiGoon_Fox-3
Datalink for R-27ER is when another separate aircraft locks a target, and the launch aircraft launches the missile, the datalink between the two aircraft allow the R-27ER to take the radar return from the other aircraft.
THAT is not modeled in War Thunder.
The datalink on SARH statcards mean nothing, because there is no buddy locking in War Thunder to allow for the feature to be used.
The ONLY things on the statcard that are used is IOG and SARH. IOG lets it go to the last known position & velocity of the target without a lock.
SARH missiles always require a hard lock to function.
the relocking with solid lock is literally how the game models datalink for Fox-1s
that’s how it works here
@AlvisWisla you look at this and tell me if literally any Fox-1 that does not have DL can hit the second shot, the seeker is literally pointing away from the second AI man
Wrong in every regard.
Sounds like a lotta skill issue to me
@mrr0
I don’t think that’s how datalink works.
Go read stepanovich’s post on datalink functionality in War Thunder.
Y’all are arguing against me for having literally no takes on this issue other than datalink is incorrect in War Thunder.
So unless you have proof that datalink is accurate, you’re not refuting any of my positions.
He is talking about a completely different missile type in the posts you shared
Fox-1 datalink works completely differently ingame compared to Fox-3s
You do not understand how this works at all do you
This is how datalink works for Fox-1s
it lets you relock any target you want even if they’re outside the missile’s seeker and the missile will go for them
Unlike for Fox-1s without datalink where the target needs to still be inside the missile’s seeker for it to work.
That’s how it has worked for Fox-1 missiles in war thunder for years
fox1 without DL cant relock at all even on the same target unless its done extremely fast after losing lock which may or may not be a bug
