You would need a unicorn scenario last patch for the F-16 to be able to rate long enough to get anything done without the introduction of the third party, the meta way to play it was as a starfighter which was absolutely miserable.
The air rb meta favored the Mig 29 because of the superior aoa, missiles, radar, and third party tactics, you are partially correct, in a 1v1 customs match, a block 10 F-16 would have handily won every time, but in air rb entering at the right speed, finding a Mig 29 that won’t just disengage, and staying alone long enough to secure the kill just wasn’t happening, the F-14b was the much better pick for the US, and even then it was worse than the Mig 29 in most areas and still has the Front-aspect only PD.

One can only hope the AN/APG-71 will be more fun to play with on the D variant of the Tomcat.

You know what the saddest thing about F-14D with AMRAAMs is? 12.3 - 12.7, maybe 13.0 IF F-15s are 13.3. Cause the airframe just can’t keep up. Also limited to internal countermeasures.

Also at high alt where GE engines shines, Tomcat D can certainly keep up with F-15’s.
It was never wired for AMRAAM as far as I’ve heard.

Aim-120 was trailed on Tomcat, although it was not the D model i dont see why it shouldnt get it.
With Aim-120+Aim-9M, Tomcat D will be unique and end of the line for Tomcat family.
The SU-27 needs to be coming with an F15 of some kind, it was Russia’s response to the F15 which makes a lot more sense than a MIG-29M or what not instead, the MIG-29 is the F-16’s counterpart, as the F-18 which one day will come has a counter part: the SU-30
gaijin must stick with direct counterparts to these aircraft, especially USA-USSR because thats 1. where most people look to measure, and 2. the 2 nations are the biggest rivals in aviation, it only makes sense.

SMT in its garbage 1996 configuration is most definitely not the counterpart to Block 50 F-16 with HMS
