Ill second that, usually when i lose lock after slinging an r27er ill try grab a target further away and not the same one it was on.
Seems to work okay but god damn the radar is dodgy, one minute its fantastic the next you cant get a lock on someone in perfect conditions.
has a very good radar, all aspect missiles and sparrows
most planes at 11.7/11.3 dont even have pulse doppler radars let alone all aspects
Next time I play I’ll send you a replay where the MiG-29 starts following me with its radar from the very spawn. I just don’t know how it does it.
Mig29 base picking you up the moment you take off from your airfield is the least of your concern. Idk why my man trying so hard to make it out like he gonna launch a 27ER across the map and take him down and he unable to do anything in return, is just absurd. The Mig29base is in no world better than the F/A-18 premium. Let alone the F15A.

The base MiG-29 model is bring hard carried by 27ERs.
If it didnt have those, i wouldnt touch it with 10ft pole nowadays.

You dont know how to play with or against these planes, and thats okay, but you should.focus on learning and getting better rather than coming here and saying theyre great planes etc.
Genuinely im enjoying it a lot but those R60s at 12.7 (or a 13.7 uptier) make me question reality.
End up going for gun kills over r60 kills

the mig23MLD is better in a dogfight than the F4E due to the additional wing slats, meaning it loses out on the rate fight, but claws it back on the AoA (instantanious turn)
However the gun isn’t that good, its mounted in a piss spot. R60Ms aren’t that handy any more, not like when R60s were intorduced.
as well as that, the F4E has pretty good sustained fighting, and longevity in an ARB match.
Over all, if you take a good F4E pilot and a good ML pilot, usually the F4 comes out on top, providing you dont headbut an R24

Anywhere you mount GSh-23 its gonna be shit. the gun is the problem, not placement. At least velocity-wise because when it hit at least it’s gonna be crit, and I am sure they are capable of making a 23mm variant of GSh-30-1 but they are not making it for some goddamn reason.

Though, I have had some mega fun dogfights with the mig29 man, like ive finished most matches with R60s unlaunched.
Though I have out done SU34s with the Mig29 and finished them off with an R60 to the side
you know the mig-29smt has a differnent radar from the one at 12.7

The GSH 23 isnt bad on the mig21s, but its also at a substantially lower BR we first see it appear, unlike the US Vulcan (or even the 20mms) the GSH is terrible to get used to , and even then once you stop using it even for a bit its brutal to use again, like u say teh velocity is just god awful with it.

And the F4E will never be able to launch the Aim9J period. So criticizing the bad R60M's is irrelevant. The MLD will both win in fast or long duel, and it also never has to duel in the first place because it is over 100kph faster in a straight line.
i played over 100 games of the F4E and F4EJ recently in preparation for the May Sale as I have tali on them from a long time ago. The 23 is far superior. The F4E is great in down tiers, just like the ML/MLA/MLD, but the only thing that kills am them is another one, or perhaps a JA37C/J8B very randomly sometimes.

The MLD does not win in the sustained fight… the mig23MLD loses the sustained fight with an F4E due to the addition of the wing slats on the MLD, as explained.
The MLD Maybe faster in a straight but it cant again sustain that speed long or it runs out of fuel.
as well as that the MLD you absolutely have to manage your wing sweep or you will lose as even more energy.
ive used both the M and MLD extensively, same as the F4E and match per match the F4E has more game impact than a mig 23ML .
How so? the aim9Js are quite easy to get a lock and launch, wether it hits or not isnt the main reason to do so, it makes the enemy panic / flare and breaks concentration on the fight.
The R60 can be used the same way but its FoV is much smaller as well as the actual locking FOV bigger.
1 - the Ml is worse than the MLD due to the fact it is missing wingslats.
the MLD is the best Mig23
2- the MLA I believe is similar to the 23M base model which is 11.0 and is objectively worse than the F4E bar in raw speed and the R60.
F4E is great even in 11.3 matches its probably one of the best phantoms per Br in game.
