Pretty much everything beats em in a dogfight, and furthermore, alot of the same planes that have F-5 level dogfighting capability, are also faster than the F-5 whilst having far better missiles.
People who complain about the F-5 being too strong are simply bad players who want to win every fight by just holding S, like they did with the Yaks, Spitfires, and Zeros.
If we bring stock modification shits up
F-16A’s Missile are 10.3 material bc AIM-9L is first used on A-10A (10.3)
So we need to discuss fully upgraded modifications unless we talk about how bad the stock is.
He came up for derail topic with F-5 whine while we were discussing about F-5A/C.
Framing others as skilless noob which is violation of the forum guidelines itself. :/
Moving them down would present obvious issues (as mentioned a lot in this thread), but I would not be opposed to giving them Aim-9J/P, given that they already exist on other F-5:s. This is even if they are potentially fictional or ‘unnecessary’.
As it stands we have a premium plane which is objectively better than a tech tree variant. Standard tech tree planes should be as competitive as premium planes.
And this makes it special… how, exactly? It’s not like any of the other 11.0s have a good missile kit stock. It’s not even the worst of them.
The MiG-21 Bis is stuck with R-3Ss (Slightly worse AIM-9Bs) until tier 3.
The Mirage III E is stuck with AIM-9Bs until tier 4.
Same with the F-8E.
Stock grinds universally suck for missile tier jets. That’s not an excuse to move them down. Especially on a plane like the F-5E, which is such a strong dogfighter that not having it’s missiles doesn’t hurt it anywhere near as badly as an F-4 or F-104.
That’s a strange selection of opponents. Personally, I would have thrown in a MiG-21 Bis (even though I’d expect it to lose), since that’s the other 11.0 dogfighting focused jet.
