at long range the r27er just eats any chance the f15 has, and at close range the su27 can almost always get off a r73 within 1km that most players don’t know how to deal with. F-15 can win consistently in close range if he’s REALLY GOOD but the average player won’t know how to deal with the Su27’s one circle advantage
su27 also has r27et which you dont mention when you say equal ir missiles

completely forgot about 27et, but it’s super easy to flare if you know it’s been fired, which to be fair is hard especially from range. r27er in a 1v1 y ou can multipath/just notch it, in a dynamic game, like arb, i would say su 27 is better becuase it’s a lot more chaotic and the 27ers shine. but in a mode like sim where 1v1s happen more often, f-15a would be better because you can force 1v1 + rwr is much superior (not to mention the fact that su27 is always at 14.0)

the r73 is the missile I talked about, not r27er, referring to close range
G loc is still really annoying. Lack of CM is becoming more and more noticeable. I might have to go for hit and run tactics if possible.

I got the F-15A, F-16C, and Su-33 within 10 days of each other so I’m a little low on SL and I don’t play much USSR so I’m still grinding out crew skill

Flying a Flanker, or really any top tier jet, without Expert or Ace crew sounds like hell .
i dont like getting expert because its alot of SL, is it really worth it for like the F-16C, Su-33, or F-14A IRIAF?

Even if you avoid dogfights without ace/expert crew you’ll die sometimes to blacking out for close range notches or late ones so its important even for BVR.

I expert every crew I have, although I also had like a surplus of at least 30 mil sl from just playing top tier for so long

aim9m and r73 are hardly equal imo, aim9m has fell off quite hard since launch, much like seeker shutoff, not that the r73 in a much better situation, both arent meta but i think r73 is more reliable.

I like the r73 a lot more, unlike r60 vs aim9l these aren’t your main missile so the range advantage doesn’t matter as much and having something that pulls off the rails for dogfights is more important than range in most cases. For shots over 2km obviously the 9m is much better, but on these planes you usually have much better options for those shots.
the dogfight stuff is cool and stuff, but really the r73 can do some insane close range flicks in headons and side shots, you can really make some incredibly unexpected shots with em
All i will say is i find both the F-15J and Su-27SM fun.
(Though i prefer the 29SMT over the 27SM just for the radar)
had a funny graphic thing where Su-33 engine nozzels were pentagons for a couple seconds
i dont have the f15jm although i imagine those aim4s are amazing, ive got f15c and whilst its a very good aircraft i have wayyy mroe fun in the su27sm.
