F-15 vs Flanker battlefield

Mostly talking about how they’re gonna be modeled in game, considering we don’t know if aim 120d/d3 get a new motor, it might just be more battery upgrades so it might just be a aim 120c5 with better lofting and guidance. Irl I agree yes aim 120d/d3 is vastly superior to r-771 due to range, but for wt range isn’t as important as being able to fire your missile off bore sight and get into the notch quickly in which the r-77 family is the second best at doing that in the game due to their insane turning ability at close range

its physically impossible for an unmodified motor amraam to achieve the increase in range the aim120d does, range isnt as important right now cause the seekers are universally bad and the missiles get slow, if we get longer range missile which are still very fast at range and have semi realistic seekers(we will get the upgrades to seekers mind you its a matter of time) then the meta will shift. but yeah if we’re talkign currently, r-77-1 is the best missile no contest, mica only competes cause the su30sm cant take full advantage of the r-77-1 mach 4 capability. on a su35s r-77-1 would shine

Other than the range increase on paper there’s no evidence for a new motor though, at least for r-77m it literally got longer by around 35 ish cm so it makes sense it gets a new motor, aim 120d/aim 120 c8 from what I can tell just added 2 way datalink, gps and seeker improvements, which are super easy for gaijin to model. Range was increased, but the docs publicly available don’t tell us how so it might’ve just been battery for all we know

unless the us is grossly overextimating the range of the missile(would be a first its usually the contrary) there is no way an aim120c-5 motor can achieve 160/180 km of range

Idk where you’re getting aim 120d/c-8 gets 160 km of range, maybe aim -260

thats the numbers.

Can you show them, I’ve never seen 180 km or even 160 km for aim 120 d, 160 km is believable for d-3 though

180km is something you see floating around im not sure how credible it is but its a relatively common number you see, 160km is also a very common number, generally you hear percentages, aim120c-7 is said to have 110km of max range its the most common figure you see, and aim120d is said to increase it by 50%.

remember this is the currently in service missile of the USAF and USN, you aint getting accurate numbers anywhere.

Okay did some preliminary research and now I agree yeah there’s almost no way the 120d doesn’t get a new motor, it literally gets “50%” more range than the 105/110km of the 120 c-5, if it’s really just a battery upgrade I would be surprised so now yeah I agree

imagine lol, they claim 50% max range increase but just improved the tracking so that it goes like 100mph at impack. literal landmine. that would be insanely funny

The only thing I’ve seen with any sort of authority is 140km. Now obviously it says larger than or equal to but I’d assume that is pretty much the max range u can achieve with a single pulse 177mm rocket, same with PL15E which is slightly bigger but that does come with a more drag.

Not really

J-16 will not have TVC and radar wise I would argue that the Irbis-E is better (for WT) albeit I don’t know what radar the J-16 has

Source being? There arent any official numbers on it, what is said is that it has 50% longer range than aim120c7, we know the missile can hit 160km as that was done already.

Tvc is pointless, it has better engines

So does the Su30sm2
It gets the Al-41 from the Su35

I forgot the sm2 upgrade encorporated the al41 it originally didnt, still the j16 is lighter and it has an aesa radar(although wt doesnt modell aesa well in the slightest)

I think it needed to so that there is enough power available for the Irbis-E and the new avionics / weapons

Iam not sure on this tho, but it would make sense to me

Ss far as i know initially the sm2 didnt have al-41 it was something they started doing back in 2022

It’s one of the US airforce PDFs, might even be the one earlier that had 260 in it.

im not seeing the logic
