R-77 is not a good missile at all, it has very limited range and u can barely get a kill at 20km with some luck.
R-77-1, by the other hand, has way more range while keeping that “50G” u’re talking about, and can be used extremely effectively at 30km or 50km if the target multipaths.
I decided to return to my old Su-27SM cumulating dust and hop into some matches, and guess what: i got more kills with R-27ER against targets flying high than with R-77 trying to give them some loft.
Not true, on that evading part
Or are you trying to say all other fox 3’s have same flight performance.
In 10Km shot 77 is more easily to be dodged compared to 120b
But it is all the same to try to convince people who only see that 50G pull on stat card.
In 10Km shot 27ER is far bigger threat compared to 77 any day and it has “only” 35g pull.
But because in paper some simulated shots it is so awesome it has to be awesome.
At those ranges you’re relying more on the enemy being a complete doofus monkey rather than the missile being good
Yes it is, for the reasons I mentioned before
Not to mention that the one downside of the missile (being range) is completely countered by the fact you get the R-27ER.
I hardly think 10 games is a good enough sample size to prove anything
Dud u read the “multipath” part or u forgot it exists?
No it isn’t, and it’s not countered by the fact u get R-27ER cuz while u need to keep a lock, ur enemy doesn’t. I bet u can get multiple kills at 13.7 with R-27ER without playing the Su-30SM2 and it’s broken radar.
There’s a little nuance that I’d like to add, and its the missile acceleration and speed.
An R-77 accelerates faster than an AIM-120 and gets its top speed faster, but it bleeds its energy absurdely quicker, and as we know, a faster missile is, by definition, harder to notch.
That, along its overload performance turns it into a good missile for close to medium range, making it a very meta missile for the 13.3 matchmaker.
I’d also like to add one more thing, in those 10 games you played, you died
In every one
So in addition to the very small sample size, your performance in those 10 games make me highly doubt you are actually able to give a proper rating on how or what makes a missile good
U truly don’t know how toptier/Fox-3 work, right? Multipathing targets are easiest to kill by obvious facts compared to a target flying at the same altitude as u.
I invite u to prove me wrong by playing the same vehicle with the same loadout for 10 matches, i want to hear u say what i have said.
Dying in a match is mostly inevitable, u can’t escape from a MICA-EM at 3km launched into ur blind spot, or an IRCCM missile launched at point blank, u can’t say someone’s performance is bad just cuz he died, better to see the kills per death than just deaths.
Most of my A2A kills in the Su-30SM came from multipathers, they are ez prey.
If u didn’t know, Fox-3s have internal radar, and multipathing makes the radar to get interference, but if the missile comes from above, it needs to go for the plane before the ground, that’s how Fox-3s work, u’re welcome for the class.
