F-14A/B at 11.7/12.0 is too OP

Why would it be when F-15A is 12.3?

Which part of my comment was hard to understand? How come a missile that is so easy to dodge can be considered “OP”?

You can literally make this missile overshoot/undershoot at high speed barrel rolls if you can time it right. Notching it is a walk on the park too, take the missile to your 3 or 9 position and drop a couple chaffs while changing your altitude for more than 5 seconds, that’s it.

If you are (somehow) unable to notch the missile literally just turn away and fly for 30 seconds. Congrats! missile has no more energy to catch you.

Battle rating change to 12.7 ?

Gaijin might consider add x4 AIM-9M sidewinder & x6 AIM-7P Sparrow in the future ?

But change IR AAM stock instead x2 AIM-9L ?

People stopped complaining because they learned to fly low avoiding pitbulled phoenix. Additionally, the Mig-29 with ER’s came out which effectively countered high altitude F14 spam.

Now with the current match maker, F14’s often face zero ER’s to counter their high altitude tactics. The multipathing nerf means that people even hugging the ground have to notch. I agree this is a skill issue if you can’t figure out how to defeat a phoenix.

However, I’m sick of people using the fact they know how to defeat a phoenix as an excuse to keep the current BR and BR compression with respect to the F14A/B

The effect of the F14 merely launching phoenix places its entire team at a huge tactical advantage. BVR fights are all about pressure and the ability to stay hot vs. cold. Three F14A’s can force over 50% of the opposing team to notch/go cold. This gives time for F4’s, Mig23, etc. to close the distance (remaining offensive) to sling the next salvo of SARH missiles. So yes, experienced players are not going to die to the initial incoming phoenix salvo, but your team will almost certainly loose leading to even the best players dying in outnumbered dogfights.

Funny that the only Phoenix that missed is the one fired against a high altitude target. Almost as if it could see the massive smoke trail and take the appropriate measures. I rarely even bother launching against other players cruising at those altitude anymore because they will dodge the phoenix 99% of the time.

The aim-54 is only good at punishing clueless players(mostly in premium planes) hugging the deck and as you may expect and see in this clip they almost always carry a full load of bombs and rockets. They never even try to dodge it in any way.

Not only ground huggers are giving the missile free energy by letting it drop down on them from high altitude (I usually launch around 10k meters), they make multipathing even worse for them because it will arrive in a near 90 degrees angle.

I still think it’s too early to judge the impact of the multipathing nerf when the update is barely 2 weeks old. It will take time for the average player to figure out that the new meta is not going fast at tree level anymore. The playerbase didn’t suddenly start flying low after PD radars, it took some time and lot of deaths.

^^^This tbh^^^

However, If both F-14s moved to 12.0/12.3BR with the current loadout, they will be awful. At the least, they should get AIM-9L for the F-14A and AIM-9M for the F-14B.

That missile you launched at the high altitude player likely had a huge beneficial effect for your team. I’m typically that high altitude opponent in a Mirage-2000. Forcing me to go cold (perpendicular to the fight) to avoid your phoenix spam likely saved at least one of your teammates from eating one of my SARH missiles at the first merge.

Just like my post right above this one, merely launching phoenix gives you a tactical advantage that your opponents machinery can’t duplicate (unless it has an ER or ARH of its own).

easy to dodge missile wont have this KDA every match in the first minute,

“easy to dodge” is contradicting with high success rate therefore it is not easy to dodge.
it’s simple but you having hard time to understand it cuz grinding this game made your brain cells commit seppuku

if there’s something that easy to dodge it has to be R60, R60M, R73 or early SARH because a single flare/chaff is enough, not AIM 54, a single chaff release wont budge it.

Bro started to repost his own post from a few hours ago because he don’t want admits himself that he is one of the many premium grinders or bomberdads who skipped learning to dodge ARH/SARH without using multipathing 💀

He has never played F-14s in the game btw

Well you don’t need to stay in a notch position all the way through.
The F-14 can choose to either guide the phoenix to you or your teammates below, not both. As you see in this clip, whoever I launched my first phoenix at quickly notched and disappeared from my TWS. The F-14 radar is also that bad that just a measly 45 degree can suffice to notch it.

After that I start pointing my radar downward on low alt targets so the only thing the high altitude bandit had to do was changing direction to avoid the phoenix in IOG mode from tracking him.

At 50km away, he couldn’t have launched a sarh missile anyway. He most likely saw my phoenix contrail, saw the F-14 ping on its RWR, did 2+2 and notched my radar. Then he sees that my ping is gone because again I point my radar downward so he knows that it’s safe to engage again.

I dont think his post was bout him. He is showing that the Phoenix, like it or not, are effective at getting kills.

I will give you that his brain cell comment was a little course… albeit funny.

Agreed. Sometimes just level 45 degree cranking is enough to watch the phoenix start flying off to no where. Sometimes, I miss the one tiny smoke trail out of 16 that are coming at me until its pitbull… then I really do have to go completely cold/dive.

In any case, its still disrupting my ability to acquire targets for myself.

Then, Why didn’t you quote it like this or post the URL of your own post?

or

Grow up instead posting rant of 54s in forum

what?
why is that matter
maybe to you
but idc

If you want to disrupt a F-14 at high altitude, just launch a r-27ER at him. If I get a missile launch warning from a mig-29 or su-27 radar I just dip. That thing is so crazy fast it’s on you almost immediately. I either stop what I’m doing, notch and then go cold or just immediately launch all my remaining phoenix at random targets which usually gives a poor hit rate.

As you should. I commented earlier that the Mig-29 is partially responsible for the remission in F14 spam prior to last update. Er’s hard counter the F14’s high alt tactics. But F14’s often no longer fight Mig-29’s thanks to the knew match maker and BR spread. Instead, F14’s fight Mirage F1’s and Mig-23’s.

Last time i checked both Regular Mig-29’s and F-14B was sitting at 12.0, which means they will fight against each other.

Ive been abusing, I mean playing, the Mirage-2000 recently and many of the matches have 11.7 as top. Meaning no Mig-29s but plenty of F-14As.

My older brother and i played Tomcat B last night, almost every round we had at least 1-4 Mig-29’s on both teams.

You and your bro should do yourselves a favor and play only the F-14A. Its BR prevents it from seeing 13.0’s and if you do get an 11.7 match, you will be kings… besides Mirage-2000 ofc : ).
