F-117 is unplayable!

How does Gaijin expect a slow jet that loses 50% of its speed while turning, with no guns or missiles, to perform against much faster fighter jets equipped with guns in 8.7 air-to-air battles? Please do something to make this plane more viable for new mission potential, or perhaps equip it with the features shown in the documents—which I prefer not to share—that would at least make it a minor threat to other jets at its BR.

The F-117 is never and will perform well at all in air battles as much as receives “new features” you might be talking about.

In the end it’s a plane that only relies on stealth to bomb targets. That’s it.

That’s why it is a squadron vehicle.

It’s a novelty aircraft for collectors, custom battle re-enactments and joyriding.

Like most ground attack aircraft. ARB is the worst possible place to try and play the F-117. I would advice playing it in SB, where it would stand a reasonable chance of making it too and from bases or other ground objectives. Though there is still a lack of decent objectives that would suit it. Its an incredibly niche aircraft that has little place within WT currently.

If they added EGBU’s to it that would help it a fair bit…those aren’t classified

The question then becomes GRB balance rather than ARB. With laser+GPS not being a thing until more like 11.3/11.7.

Might be too strong in GRB at 10.3?

What is needed is an RB EC gamemode for those not wanting to play ASB and for a new mechanic to be added to allow for GBUs to be more effective against bases. Like adding weakspots to bases that deal extra damage when hit with a GBU. Wouldnt just be a benefit to the F-117, but would add a reason to bring the GBUs on other aircraft, like on the Tornado. 0 reason to bring 4x GBUs over 12x regular bombs in something like ASB or ARB

The targeting pod inside the F117 can only work within little horizontal turning aka It can only keep lasering at a level flight right over the target; cannot fly sideways to keep distance. Laser+GPS won’t change that much, and we even have strela&OSA EVERYWHERE around 10.3 =D

Pure PvE gamemodes might be fun for the occasional match, but if Heli EC or the Assault gamemodes are any indicator. They’ll have very poor economies and wont be a viable way to research new vehicles. Also will likely get quite stagnant quite quickly.

A PvPvE gamemode would likely be the best for them to be used with that goal in mind. Air Sim needs some pretty major PvE overhauls, but hopefully that would come with an RB EC gamemode which Smin has confirmed is being looked into due to popular request.

ARB (Air Battles in general) is PvPvE but everyone gets upset when you want to do the PvE part of it.

I’d prefer that pure PvE gamemode over PvP any day of the week. They just need to implement it in a way that isn’t trash.

ARB’s small map sizes and single spawn nature generally makes the gamemode into a Team Deathmatch style gamemode, where the team to win is usually the last team standing. When you have a notable number of people base bombing on one team and few or maybe even none on the other then this creates quite a meaningful imbalance which I can imagine is very annoying as this means you are now fighting fighters 2 or maybe 3 to 1.

I use to see this all the time in the 5.7 Spitfires and would be matched against teams made up of mostly Ju-288Cs. What few fighters were on the other team just got destroyed instantly, it was rare to loose a match. the MM has since been changed to have more nations in the mix so you dont get US/UK vs Germany anymore (or at least not often)

As an Air Sim main these days. PvPvE is fine, if the maps are large enough and you dont have markers to reveal your position. Having to evade the enemy team, strike a target within enemy territory and then sneak back out again is some of the most fun PvE gameplay possible in game. I just wish the targets at the end were more varied

thats the thing… you dont you drop your bombs then dip out back to the airfield to rearm.

Btw the F in F-117 is actually a psyop done by the US military to entice pilots to fly them because it seems cooler (seriously that’s an actual thing, same thing with the F111). In reality its just a stealth bomber

F-111 was also meant to be a fleet defense fighter for the navy (F-111B)

That never got past the testing phase and wasn’t actually applicable to the airforce f111 and was eventually abandoned in favor of the F-14
